James Robert “Candy” Myers
James Robert “Candy” Myers age 64 of Sulligent died Wednesday Dec. 7, 2005 in the Northwest Medical Center Winfield, Al.
A native and life long resident of Lamar County, he was the son of the late Robert Lee and Llewellyn Knight Myers. He was of the Baptist Faith and a Brick Mason.
Survived by Five Daughters, Kathy (David) Dean, Cindy (Keith) Kerr, Candy (Lacy) Avent, Wendy Myers and Hollie Myers. Four Sons, Lee (B.J.) Myers, Kevin Myers, Tyler Myers and Jade Myers. Three sisters, Grace (Fred) Rushing, Juanita (Larry) Butler, Cynthia Myers. Four Brothers, Wayne Myers, Jerry Myers, Richard Myers, Larry (Sharon) Myers. Nine Grandchildren, Lindy, Myers, Paige and Laura Ashley Dean; Nathan and Katie Kerr; Christina, Michael and Kendall Avent. 18 nieces and nephews, 26 great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a wife, Linda Kilgore Myers and his parents, Bobby and Llewellyn Myers.
Funeral Services 2 PM Friday December 9, 2005 from the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel with Burial Sulligent City Cemetery with Bro. John Nicholson officiating.
Jeremy Rushing, Heath Butler, Haig Butler, Dustin Myers, Jeff Rushing and Greg Butler served as pallbearers.
Honorary Pallbearers, Keela Myers and Jane Davidson.

Gurley Swanigan
Gurley Swanigan age 49 of Sulligent, AL died Saturday, December 3,2005 in Atlanta, GA.
Born in Guin, AL he is the Son of the late Mae Ella Wright and Asker "Bud" Swanigan Sr. He had lived in Guin and Sulligent most of his life. He had worked for 3-M Company, was a member of the White Rock Church Of Christ and was a Volunteer Football Coach for Marion County High School for the past 14 years.
He is survived by his Wife, Elaine Hackman Swanigan of Sulligent, AL, 4 Daughters, Tonya Allen of Hoover, AL, Nadia Swanigan of Huntington, WV, Ashley Swanigan and Brittney Swanigan of Birmingham, AL, 5 Sons, Kelvin Swanigan of Guin, AL, Santino Swanigan of Hamilton, AL, Gareith Swanigan and Brandon Swanigan of Birmingham, AL, and Cameron Blanchard of Winfield, AL, 2 Sisters, Laura Allman of Guin, AL and Sarah (Terry) Salter of Hamilton, AL and a Brother, Asker (Vivian) Swanigan, Jr. of Douglasville, GA, A Grandchild, Alexis Swanigan, Several Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles and Friends.
Services held Thursday, December 8, 2005 2:00 PM from the Marion County High School Gym with burial in the Beaver Creek Cemetery. Bill Rayburn, Bishop Foster Wallace and Elder Murray Johnson officiating.

Florence Beasley
Florence Beasley age 86 of Sulligent, AL, passed away Friday December 2, 2005 at her residence.
Born in Lamar County to the late Dewitt Talmadge and Lillie Morris Guyton and the wife of the late John W. Beasley. She was a resident of the Sulligent area most of her life and was a charter member of the Sulligent First Assembly of God Church were she had served as church secretary as well many other leadership position's. She had retired from McCoy and Reltoc Manufacturing Companies as a seamstress.
Survived by One Daughter: Carol Jean (Richard) Mixon, and One Grandson: Richard Jayson Mixon and A Sister In-law: Grace Beasley all of Sulligent, AL and a Host of Nieces and Nephews.
Preceded in death by Four Brothers: Dewitt Talmadge Guyton Jr., Herman Clayton Guyton, Billy Burt Guyton, and Bobby Gene Guyton, an infant Son: Miles Talmadge Beasley and an infant Grand Daughter: Sonya Leigh Mixon.
Services were held Monday December 5, 2005 at 2:PM from the Sulligent First Assembly of God Church with burial in the Sulligent City Cemetery. Bro. Jerry Oakes, Bro. Billy Ray Adams, and Bro. Charles Flippo officiating.

Dalt Markham age 72 of Guin, AL died Thursday, December 1, 2005 in the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield, AL.
Born in Guin, AL. He is the Son of the late Troy and Selma Williams Markham. He had lived in Guin all of his life and was a member of the Mt. Olive Free Will Baptist Church. He was a Mens Softball Coach for many years and was an avid Red Raider Fan.
He is survived by his Wife, Shirley Barnes Markham of Guin, AL, A Daughter, Sally (Dwaine) Tucker of Guin, AL, 3 Sons, Winfred (Teresa) Markham, Danny (Charlotte) Markham all of Guin, AL and Josh (Meredith) Markham of Birmingham, AL, 7 Grandchildren, Beau, Brett, Jessie, Tyler and Tara Markham, and Rachel and Mollie Tucker, A Sister, Doris Threadgill of Guin, AL and A Brother, Houston (Ardell) Markham of Guin, AL.
He was also preceded in death by a Sister, Katherine Eads and Two Brothers, Norman (Sonny) Markham and Don Markham.
