Callie Edwards

Callie Edwards age 75 of Sulligent, AL passed away Thursday April 6, 2006 at the Walker Baptist Medical Center in Jasper, AL.

She was born in Sulligent, AL to the late Gurley and Annie McClendon Wilson. She had lived in the Sulligent area all of her life and was a member of the Revelation Holiness Church. Retired from McCoy Manufacturing Plant as a seamstress.

Survived by her husband Lee Edwards of Sulligent, AL, Two Daughters: Veronica (David) McCluskey of Sulligent, AL, and Mary (Carlos) Wiggins of Oakman, AL, Three Sons: Jeff (Barbara) Smith and Ray (Wanda) Smith of Vernon, AL and Tommy (Marie) Smith of Pontotoc, MS, Three Sisters: Irene Box and Agnes Mckay of Sulligent, AL, and Dottie Adams of Pensacola, FL, Nineteen Grandchildren and Twenty Great-Grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her Parents, first Husband Clarence J. Smith, and a Son Michael A. Smith, and a Brother Junior Wilson.

Services held Saturday April 8, 2006 at 2: 00 PM from the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Wofford Cemetery. Bro William Kirkman officiating.

Grandsons were Pallbearers.

Max A. Burleson

Max A. Burleson age 83 of Guin, AL passed away Thursday March 30, 2006 in the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield, AL.

Born in, Guin AL he was the Son of the late James Albert and Ruth Merle Hughes Burleson. He was a Veteran of World War II having served in the U. S. Army Air Force. He served as Mayor of Guin for 2 years, retired as Postmaster of Guin after 25 years of service with the Post Office, was a member of the Guin Masonic Lodge and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Guin.

He is survived by his Wife, Fredia McGuire Burleson, of Guin, AL, 4 Daughters, Fran Harden of Little Rock, AR, Carol (Rudy) Walters of Warner Robins, GA, Kathy (David) Peoples of Killen, AL and Corrine (Terry) Franks of Guin, AL, A Son, Max Albert (Cathy) Burleson, Jr. of Boone, NC, 8 Grandchildren, Mark (Sheena) Harden of Austin, TX, Amy Harden of Memphis, TN, Chad (Christy) Walters of Atlanta, GA, Reed Walters of Athens, GA, Patrick Peoples of Huntsville, AL, Ginger (Jammy) Byars, Janene (Scott) Cole and Heath Franks all of Guin, AL, 4 Great Grandchildren, MaKenzie Cole, Jordan Byars, Mitch Cole and Jule Anna Byars, A Brother, Leon Burleson of Panama City, FL.

He was also preceded in death by a Sister, Mary Springfield and a Son - In - Law, Bob Harden.

Services held Saturday April 1, 2006 at 3:00 PM from the First United Methodist Church with burial in the Guin City Cemetery. Rev. Arthur Rowe officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church P.O. Box 515 Guin, AL 35563.

Edsel Flippo

Edsel Flippo age 73 of Guin, AL died Sunday, March 19, 2006 in the Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham, AL.

Born in Marion County, Alabama. He is the Son of the late Emmitt and Etta Mae Franks Flippo. He had lived in the Pea Ridge Community all of his life, was a Veteran of the Korean War, a member of the VFW and American Legion. He had retired from Alabama Power and was a member of the Guin First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his Wife, Peggy K. Flippo of Guin, AL, A Daughter, Terri Richardson of Guin, AL and A Son, Kenneth R. (Janet) Flippo of Madison, AL, and 4 Grandchildren, Ben and Beth Anne Flippo and Trista and Tyler Richardson.

Services held Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 2:00 PM from the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens in Gu-Win. Bro. Benney McKinney officiating.

Audie Black

Audie Black age 97 of Beaverton, AL died Wednesday, March 15, 2006 in the Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Guin.

Born in Lamar County, Alabama. She is the Daughter of the late Addie Lee and Savannah Young and the Wife of the late Richard V. Black. She had lived in Beaverton all of her life and was of the Free Will Baptist Faith.

She is survived by Special Family, Keith and Kim Spencer, Brandy and Stacy Spencer all of Brilliant, AL, Uncle, J.C. and Faye Young of Beaverton, AL and Several Nieces and Nephews and Cousins.

Services held Friday, March 17, 2006 at 7:00 PM from the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel with Burial in the Love Joy Cemetery. Bro. William L. Atkins officiating.
