Valena Mae Dove
Valena Mae Dove age 81 of Gattman, MS passed away Tuesday March 14, 2006 at the Care Center in Aberdeen, MS.
She was born in Tremont, Mississippi on June 22, 1924 to the late Alvis Monroe and Maudie A. Leech Suggs and the wife of the late J.B. Dove. Had lived most of her life in Gattman, Ms, was a member of the Gattman Baptist Church were she served in the Church Women’s Ministry and a member of the Gattman Homemakers Club. She retired after 28 years of service from McCoy Manufacturing as a seamstress. She enjoyed her gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survived by Two Daughters: Nelda Jean (Robert) Doss and Pamma Lynn (Gary) Sandman of Aberdeen, MS, One Son: Rex (Patricia) Dove of Athens, AL, Nine Grandchildren, Tony Easter and Alicia Johnson of Haughton, LA, Kim Shrock of Amory, MS, Todd Dove of Sharpsburg, GA, Chris Woods of Amory, MS, Angela Smith of Acworth, GA, Shaun Butler of Athens, AL, Robbie Doss and Stanley Doss of Aberdeen, MS and Fifteen Great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her Parents and a Brother: John Douglas Suggs.
Services were held Thursday March 16, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. from the Gattman Baptist Church with burial in the Lockhart Cemetery. Bro. Truman Carter and Bro. Dennis Sullivan Officiating.
Pallbearers were Ruben Shrock, Shaun Butler, Todd Dove, Johnny Northington, Sammy Mitchell, Brantley Hill and alternate Tommy Johnson.
Honorary Pallbearers were the caregivers of the Care Center of Aberdeen, MS and Gilbert Hospice.
The body will lie in state Thursday from Noon until 1:00 pm at the church.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6 - 8 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the Gattman Baptist Church, P.O. Box 8, Gattman, MS 38844

Doris McKay
Doris McKay age 83 of Guin, AL died Thursday, March 9, 2006 in the Marion County Nursing Home in Hamilton, AL.
Born in Wedowee, AL. She is the Daughter of the late Rev. John Pierce and Doris Maxwell West and the Wife of the late James Shelton McKay. She was a life long member of the Philadelphia United Methodist Church. She was actively involved in the United Methodist Women’s group, also had a card ministry and used many rolls of stamps to offer congratulations of sympathy to friends and relatives. She supported Vacation Bible School and with her time created V.B.S curriculum. Worked as a secretary at the Guin Elementary School and was always ready to listen to the children’s problems and help them with a hug or a band aid, she made sure no school child went hungry.
She is survived by Two Daughters, Anne McKay (Larry) Odom of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Jane McKay Spooner of Guin, AL, Two Sons, James S. (Heather) McKay Jr. of Culowhee, NC and David E. (Dana) McKay of Jacksonville, FL, 7 Grandchildren, Merry Spooner Kuchle, April Odom Hargraves, Dallas McKay, James Odom, Miranda McKay, Patric Spooner and Victoria Spooner, Two Great Grandchildren, Will Kuchle and Nicole Kuncle. Two Sisters, Frances West (Charlie) Reeves of Hueytown, AL and Rachel West Shelton of Knoxville, TN and A Brother Pete West of Childersburg, AL. Two Sisters – In Law, Floy and Gaitha Webb. Special coffee break friends Fred and Inez Brown.
She was also preceded in death by a Brother Charles West and a Sister Mary West Erwin.
Services held Monday, March 13, 2006 3:00 pm from the Philadelphia Methodist Church with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Bro. Shane Harris and Bro. Steven West officiating.

Frances Smith Stuart age 78 of Florence, AL formerly of Guin, AL died Tuesday, March 07, 2006 in the Cogburn Nursing Home in Huntsville, AL.
Born in Guin, AL. She is the Daughter of the late James Milton and Laura Wilma Springfield Smith. She had lived in Russellville most of her life and was a member of the Christ Chapel in Florence.
She is survived by Two Daughters, Beth Keller of Florence, AL and Becky Butler in Gurley, AL, 8 Grandchildren, Missy Kimbell, Gracie Clark, Jason Butler, Bethany Butler, Micah Butler, Benjamin Butler, Josiah Butler, and Isaac Butler and 5 Great Grandchildren, Brandon Kimbell, Ethan Butler, Elise Butler, Joshua Butler, and Abigail Butler.

Pam Wilemon age 35 of Tuscaloosa, AL formerly of Guin, died Wednesday, March 1, 2006 in the Brookwood Hospital in Birmingham, AL.
Born in Waukegan, IL. She is the daughter of Joann Sanderson Whitehead and the late James D. Whitehead. She had lived in Tuscaloosa since 1990 where she was a member of the University Church of Christ. She had taught Math at West Blockton High School the past 3 years, taught part time at Shelton State College, and was part time Business Counselor at the University Of Alabama, and was a private tutor for many students.
She is survived by her Mother, Joann Whitehead of Guin, AL, A Sister, Annette (Kerry) Killingsworth of Auburn, AL, A Brother, David Wilemon of Guin, AL and Two Nieces, Kristen and Allison.
Services held Saturday, March 4, 2006 at 2:00 PM from the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Berea Cemetery. Bill Rayburn officiating.
