Hollie Flippo age 89 of Guin, AL died Sunday, July 1, 2007 at her residence..
Born in Guin, Alabama, She is the daughter of the late James Walter and Jala Lee Adkins Gann. She graduated from Marion County High School and Harding College in Searcy, Arkansas. She had lived in Guin most of her life, and was a member of the Guin Church Of Christ.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, J.D. Flippo of Guin, AL, Two Daughters, Elizabeth Thompson of Detroit, AL and Jackie Tidwell of Guin, AL, 7 Grandchildren, Benjamin Joseph Tidwell, Amanda Elizabeth Thompson (John) Bomba, William Jay (Heather) Tidwell, Jala Leigh Thompson (Johnny) Echols, Walter Andrew (Keri) Tidwell, Jeremy Lang (Valerie) Tidwell, and Marvin Tyler Tidwell, and 8 Great Grandchildren, Alisha Denise Tidwell, Hayden Blake Tidwell, Devyn Jakob "D.J." Tidwell, Andrew Dale Tidwell, Walter Neal Echols, Dory Elizabeth Bomba, baby Tidwell and baby Bomba due in November and December. A Sister In Law, Jean Gann of Sylacauga, AL.
She was also preceded in death by a Brother, John Henry Gann.
Services held Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at 3:00 pm from the Guin Church Of Christ with burial in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens in Gu-Win.
Visitation Tuesday, July 3, 2007 1 - 3 pm at the church.

Jean Irvin
Jean Irvin age 78 of Detroit, AL passed away Saturday June 9, 2007 at the Care Center in Vernon, AL after an extended illness.
She was born in Detroit, AL. to the late Horace Burton and Allie Mae Stephenson Knight and was the wife of the late James Verlon Irvin. She had lived in the Detroit, AL area most of her life and was a member of the Detroit Baptist Church. She was retired from the McCoy Manufacturing Plant as a Seamstress and she loved Quilting and spending time with her family.
Survived by Three Daughters: Cheryl (Steve) Wilson of Sulligent, AL, Carolyn (Jerry) Hall and Connie (Phil) Frye both of the Splunge Community. Two Sons: John (Debbie) Otts and Jim Otts both of Sulligent, AL, Three Sisters: June King and Frankie Channell both of Detroit, AL, and Ann Gosa of Sulligent, AL, One Brother: Bobby Joe Knight of Detroit, AL, Seven Grandchildren: Lisa (Tim) Clark of Sulligent, AL, Jennifer Otts of Moline, IL, Holly (Tyrone) Stewart of Guin, AL, Chrissy Otts of Moline, IL, Jaime (Damon) Coleman of Sulligent, AL, Christopher (Kristen) Hall of Smithville, MS, and Brandon Hall of the Splunge Community. Seventeen Great-Grandchildren.
Preceded in death by one Brother L.B. Knight, two infant Brothers James and Billy Knight, one Sister Eleanor Frederick and two infant Sisters Jewell and Verleen Knight.
Services held Tuesday June 12, 2007 at 4: 00 P.M. from the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Bro. Danny Stanford, Bro. Tim Markham and Bro. Kelvin Price officiating.
Visitation Monday from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home.

Rev. Dr.Jerry Herston
Rev. Dr. Jerry Thomas Herston age 56 of Ft. Payne, Alabama formerly of Guin, died Monday, June 4, 2007 in Huntsville, AL.
He was born May 18, 1951 at Elgin Crossroads, Lauderdale County, AL. He is the son of the late Thomas Bud and Ruby Pearl Springer Herston. He attended Sweet Gum Elementary School and graduated from Lexington High School, Class of 1969. He married Martha Clark on May 28, 1976. He had worked at National Floors in Florence, AL for four years as well as the 3M Company in Decatur, AL. He felt the call for the ministry and entered pastoral ministry in the United Methodist Church in 1975. He graduated from the University of North Alabama in 1979, and Asbury Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity in 1982 and Received his Doctor of Ministry Degree from Memphis Theological Seminary in 1996. Dr. Herston was ordained as a Deacon in the United Methodist Church in 1981 and Ordained Elder in 1985. He celebrated 32 years in pastoral ministry while serving Asbury United Methodist Church in Fort Payne, AL. He was a member of the North Alabama Conference of the United Methodist Church, a Volunteer Chaplin at DeKalb Baptist Hospital, a member of Fort Payne Ministerial Association, served on the Gadsden District Board of Ordained Ministry, a member of the Board of Directors for Dekalb Faith Free Medical Clinic and a member of the Masonic Lodge # 437 of Fort Payne. His hobbies were fishing, making cushions and his favorite, spending time with grandchildren.
Survivors are his wife of 31 years, Martha Clark Herston of Fort Payne, AL, a daughter, Mary Herston of Florence, AL, a Son, Jonathan (Katie) Herston of Tuscaloosa, AL, a sister, Jane (Charlie) Quigley of Rogersville, AL, a twin brother, Rev. Terry (Vickie) Herston of Rogersville, AL, two grandchildren, Cari Abigail and Samuel Joshua Herston, Nieces and Nephews, Dana (George) Crummie, Kristi (Scott) Nix, Jeremy (Shelly), Matthew and Jenni Herston. Several Aunts, Uncles, Brothers and Sisters-In-Law, Cousins and a host of friends and church family.
Services held Thursday, June 7, 2007 at 6:00 pm from the Guin First United Methodist Church with burial in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Tremont, MS. Rev. Jonathan Herston, Rev. Terry Herston, Bro. Jacob Wilkerson and Bro. Brad Linville officiating.
Visitation Thursday 3 - 6 pm at the church
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 11, 2007 at 2:00 pm from the Asbury United Methodist Church in Fort Payne, AL.

Anne Brown
Anne Brown age 70 of Guin, AL died Sunday, June 3, 2007 in the North Mississippi Medical Center in Hamilton, AL.
Born in Montgomery County, Alabama. She is the Daughter of the late Bird Fuller Dailey Watson and the late James Marvin Dailey II. She was a graduate of Escambia County High School in Atmore, AL and attended Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL. She fought for Civil Defense Monitors in schools, worked for Earthquake Consortium in Memphis. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and was a Certified United Methodist Lay Speaker.
