Syble Ray Robison Jeffreys age 85 of Guin, Alabama died Friday, March 19, 2004 in the DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Born in Detroit, Alabama. She is the Daughter of the late Claude and Hester Isbell Robison and the Wife of the late Lee Wright Jeffreys. She had lived in Detroit most of her life and was a member of the Union Ridge Free Will Baptist Church. She had lived in Guin the past 5 years.

She is survived by A Daughter, Nena McDonald of Guin, AL, A Son, Daniel Ray Jeffreys of Detroit, AL, A Brother, William Robison of Detroit, AL, 9 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a Son, Jimmy Jeffreys, and 3 Great Grandchildren.

Services held Sunday, March 21, 2004 at 2:00 pm from the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Cooper Cemetery. Bro. Dale Ford and Bro. Rickey Gattis officiating.

Richmond Pollard

Richmond Pollard age 87 of Guin, Alabama died Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at his residence.

Born in Guin, Alabama. He is the Son of the late Kelcy Moman and Bell Dora Franks Pollard. He had lived in the Pea Ridge Community all of his life, was a member of the Free Water Free Will Baptist Church and a Member of the Brilliant Masonic Lodge over 50 years.

He is survived by his Wife, Edgar Irene Wilson Pollard, A Daughter, Pat (Joe) Taylor, and A Son, Byron (Wanda) Pollard all of Guin, AL, Six Grandchildren, Brett (Tena) Taylor, Michele (Tim) Taggart, Eric Pollard, Elesha (Jason) Guin, Miranda (Cory) Phillips and Tyson Lawrence. Three Great Grandchildren, Taylor Taggart, Tyler Pollard and Carly Taylor and A Sister, Elsie Pollard Wilson of Hamilton, AL.

He was preceded in death by Eight Brothers, Jasper, Jessie, Henry, Grady, Cecil, Julius, Aaron, and Kelcy Pollard and Three Sisters, Lezzie Tidwell, Kizzie Pearce Mann and Willie Vee Pollard.

Services held Friday, March 12, 2004 2:00 PM from the Free Water Free Will Baptist Church with burial in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens. Bro. M.H. Hollis, Bro. Roger Akers, and Bro. Benny McKinney officiating.

Joe Dill Barker

Joe Dill Barker age 80 formerly of Lamar County died Wednesday March 3, 2004 in Birmingham, AL.

Born in Lamar County, he was a Veteran of World War II serving in the Navy, a professional barber and taught his profession at Northwest Alabama State Technical College.

He was the son of the late Ira and Katie Brown Barker, husband of the late Bobbie Jean Crawford Barker and father of the late Terry Jo Barker.

Survived by a daughter, Katie Lou Ciampa, Everett City, MA

Three Grandchildren and Five Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by Four Brothers, Rex, Jim, Frankie and Otto; Three Sisters, Nina Hill, Julia Fay and an infant sister.

Funeral Services Saturday, March 6, 2004 11:00 AM from the Taylor Springs Free Will Baptist Church with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Bro. C.C. Berryhill officiating.

Sabra Newell Sudberry age 41 of Detroit, Alabama died Wednesday, March 03, 2004 in Winfield, Alabama.

Born in Columbus, Mississippi. She is the Daughter of Johnnie Ruth Lockhart Newell and the late Hugh Lee Newell. She had lived in Detroit most of her life and was a member of the Gardendale First Baptist Church. She received a B.S. Degree from M.U.W. a M.A. Degree from University of Alabama both in Special Education. She was Chairman of the Lamar County Heritage Book Committee, Past Regent Major, Thomas Hubbard Daughters of the American Revolution, Schools Chairman Daughters of 1812, Past President of Lamar County Genealogical Historical Society, Member of Kappa Delta Pi, and Honorary Education Society University of Alabama.

She is survived by Three Daughters, Heidi Rester, Betsy Welsh, and Chloe Sudberry all of Detroit, AL, A Son, Joseph Welsh of Detroit, AL, Mother, Ruth Lockhart Newell of Caledonia, MS, A Brother, David Newell of Mooreville, MS, A Half Sister, Pamella Butler Bennett of Tucson, AZ, and Special Friends, Bryan Frederick and April Steele.

She was also preceded in death by Paternal Grandparents, Houston and Ida Beard Newell and Maternal Grandparents, Walter Lockhart and Bertie Lockhart Ruffin.

Services held Friday, March 5, 2004 at 2:00 pm from the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Cooper Cemetery. Bro. Randy Wright officiating.
