Funeral for John Pearson, who died Saturday, June 21, 1997, at Huntsville Hospital, was held Monday, June 23. The 2 p.m. ceremony was held at Owen Chapel and was officiated by the Revs. Clyde Goodlett and Amos Hood.
Burial was in the adjacent cemetery with Elliott Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Pearson was born in Holly Springs, Miss., to Odie and Penola Flannigan Pearson. He was an employee of the Alabama Highway Dept. in Decatur.
Survivors include his wife, Bernie Pearson; one daughter, Margaret Hampton of Moulton; one brother, Henry Pearson of Moulton; two sisters, Armanda Hood and Annie Hamby, both of Moulton; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Kyle Terry, Gary Hamby, Larry Hood, Billy Lovett, Michell Dutton and Hillard Blankenship.

Lurlie A. Green died Saturday, June 21, 1997, at Hendrix Health Care.
The funeral was held Monday, June 23, 1 p.m., at Pine Tucky Baptist Church in Double Springs with burial in the adjoining cemetery with Nichols Funeral Home directing. The Rev. Melvin Williams officiated.
She was a member of Pine Tucky Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Rollie Luther Green and Jimmy Edward Green, both of Birmingham and Billy Terrell Green of Double Springs; one daughter, Mary Jo Cofield of Birmingham; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, Roy Shewart of Double Springs; two sisters, Myrtle McCullar of Thach and Maybelle Hood of Moulton.

A graveside service was held for Masum Phillip Morris at Moulton Memory Gardens on Thursday, June 19, 10 a.m., with the Rev. Jackie Shelton officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.
The infant died Tuesday, June 17, 1997, at Decatur General Hospital.
Survivors include his parents, Mitchell and Robbie Morris of Moulton; a brother, Drew Morris of Moulton; grandparents, Phillip Morris of Courtland, Bob and Diane Hale of Moulton; great-grandmother, Hazle Pearson of Moulton and Mable Hampton of Five Points.
James Loveral Parker

Funeral for James Loveral Parker was held Friday, June 20, 2 p.m., at Bethany Baptist Church with the Revs. Larry Crumpton and Phil Waldrep officiating.
Burial was in the Black Ground Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Parker died Tuesday, June 17, 1997, at Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield.
He was born in Lawrence County, was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and a member of AFL-CIO Local #366. Mr. Parker was also a veteran of the Vietnam War and was employed by the Tennessee Valley Authority.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Ann Parker; a son, Henry Parker of Town Creek; two daughters, Patty Mears of Town Creek and Mary Sharp of Bridgeport, Ill.; three stepdaughters, Pat Simbec of Loretta, Tenn., Brenda Horton and Glenda Butler, both of Leighton; a brother, Winford Parker of Town Creek; a sister, Ruby White of Town Creek; six grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jack Murphy, Robert Murphy, James Murphy, Michell Parker, Freddie Parker, Leroy parker and Tommy White.
Bessie Brooks Gillespie

Funeral for Bessie Brooks Gillespie of Plant City, Fla. was held Friday, June 20, 11 a.m., at Parkway Funeral Home with the Revs. Marvin Gillespie and Bill Wiley officiating.
Burial was in the Morris Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Gillespie died Friday, June 13, 1997, at her residence.
She was born in Alabama to Dave and Annie Brooks.
Survivors include three sons, Eugene Gillespie, Belmont Gillespie and Wiley Gillespie, all of Plant City; two daughters, Ola P. Bennett of Moulton and Shirley Kinard of Plant City; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Pruitt Gillespie, Charles Gillespie, Vernon Austin, Flint Gillespie, Fred Gillespie and Joe Gillespie.

Mr. Kirby died Sunday, June 15, 1997, in Decatur.
He was born in Decatur to Jesse C. and Melba Coleman Kirby. Mr. Kirby was employed by Country Gas in Moulton.
Survivors include three sons, Timothy Lee Kirby, Tony Eugene Kirby and Michael Leon Kirby II, all of Town Creek; one daughter, Heather Michelle Kirby of Town Creek; his father of Decatur; his stepmother, Juanita Kirby of Decatur; two brothers, Johnny E. Kirby of Decatur and Douglas J. Kirby of Hartselle; three stepbrothers, Delin Moses of Oceanside, Calif., Glenn Moses of Midway and Dana Moses of Decatur.
Pallbearers were Lamar Welch, Chris Burns, Frankie Hinkle, Rex Hensley, Fred Allen and Scott Cox.

A graveside service was held for infant Olivia Kay McElrath on Sunday, June 22, 3 p.m., at East Lawrence Memorial Gardens with Marcus Lipscomb officiating and Parkway Funeral Home directing.
The infant died on Friday, June 20, 1997, the day of her birth, at Decatur General Hospital.
She is survived by her parents, William and LouAnn McElrath of Trinity; grandparents, G. P. "Buddy" and Jackie McElrath of Decatur, Sandra Mizell and Wayne and Norine Mizell, all of Trinity.
Scottie Blake Hampton

Funeral for Scottie Blake Hampton was held Monday, June 30, 11 a.m., at Parkway Funeral Home with the Rev. Jackie Camp officiating.
Burial was in the East Lawrence Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Hampton died Saturday, June 28, 1997, when his mobile home burned.
Mr. Hampton was born in Decatur. He attended East Lawrence High School and enjoyed fishing, hunting and searching for arrowheads. Mr. Hampton worked as a meat cutter, truck driver and manager at his father's business, Autumn Farms. He also did construction work.
Survivors include his mother, Joyce Diane Hayes of Decatur; his father and stepmother, Charles Rayburn and Shirley Hampton of Trinity; one sister, Monica Fry of Athens; two stepsisters, Paula McCary and Rhonda Dodd of Mount Hope; and his grandparents, Omie Hampton and Mrs. C. K. Wiggley of Trinity.
Uncles and friends were the pallbearers.

Mr. Terry died Wednesday, June 25, 1997, in Decatur.
He was born in Lawrence County and worked for Decatur City Schools.
Survivors include a son, Stetson Allen Terry of Moulton; a daughter, Jessica Ann Terry of Moulton; his parents, Marion and Mary Terry of Courtland; a brother, Randy Marion Terry of Moulton; three sisters, Shelia K. Sivley and Angelia Delene White of Moulton and Renita Joyce Clemment of Courtland; and grandmother, Opal Terry of Moulton.
Pallbearers were Thomas Ray, Scotty Ray, Timmy Hammond, Randall King, Stacy Wilson and Brandon Gardner.
