Irene N. Ausban
Irene N. Ausban, 69, of Huntsville died Wednesday at her home. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with Lowell Sallee officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Ausban was a native of Lawrence County, but spent most her life in Madison County. She was retired from Huntsville City Schools after 14 years there.
Survivors include two daughters, Reene A. Hodges of Huntsville and Kathy L. Lamb of Gurley; one son, Stephen D. Stolz of Harvest; one sister, Earline Jenkins of Huntsville; one brother, Tim Nichelson of Huntsville; and five half sisters, four half brothers, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Edward B. Black
GURLEY - Edward Benson Black, 86, died Tuesday at his home. The funeral will be Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Gurley City Cemetery with the Rev. Boots Peace officiating.
Spry Funeral Home will be in charge of burial.
Mr. Black was a native of Jefferson City, Texas, but spent most his life in Madison County.
Survivors include his wife, Mary O. Black of Gurley; two sons, Gene Black of Huntsville and James Black of Gurley; one sister, Jewel Medlen of Huntsville; and 30 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dave M. Brown
Dave Monroe Brown, 80, of Huntsville died Tuesday at his home. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, Miss., with Bro. Tommy Whaley officiating.
Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery.
Mr. Brown was a retired Navy veteran and was a survivor of Pearl Harbor. He lived in Huntsville more than 35 years and was a retired partner of Brown and Roden Television. He was a member of Woodland Hill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jeannine Edwards.
Survivors include two sons, David W. Brown and Dennis Brown, both of Huntsville; one brother, Henry Brown of Nettleton, Miss.; two sisters, Velma Shackleford of Madison and Annie Mae Varnell of Nettleton; and a special friend, Doris McDonald of Huntsville.
Visitation was to be today from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Family Care or to American Cancer Society.

Jo A. Burchfield
Jo Ann Burchfield, 66, of Hampton Cove in Huntsville died Tuesday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Church of the Nativity Episcopal with the Rev. Jack Wilson officiating.
She lived in the Huntsville area 34 years and was retired as principal of Chaffee Elementary School.
Survivors include one daughter, Renea Burchfield Mason; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the church after the funeral.

Grady M. Burt
CROSSVILLE - Grady Montford Burt, 62, of 275 Pea Ridge Road died Wednesday at his home. The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Carr Funeral Home in Guntersville.
Burial will be in Pine Grove No. 1 Cemetery.
Mr. Burt was Marshall County commissioner for District 4 for 12 years.
Survivors include his wife, Lillie Burt; two sons, Bobby Breedwell of Union Grove and Donnie Breedwell of Huntsville; two sisters, Frances Lang of Guntersville and Sissie Ledbetter of Grant; and four grandchildren.

Lillian B. Cobb
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Lillian Benson Cobb, 84, died Wednesday in Green sboro. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home in Huntsville.
Burial will be in Charity Cemetery.
Mrs. Cobb was a member of Heritage Baptist Church for more than 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy James Cobb; and one son, Thomas Earl Cobb.
Survivors include two daughters, Sue Smith of Green sboro and Margie Stephens of Flint, Mich.; one son, Terry Cobb of Chattanooga; two brothers, Marvin Benson and Calvin Benson; one sister, Ruby McKenzie; and 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

James G. Freyder
James G. Freyder, 65, of Huntsville died Tuesday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Latham United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Ward and the Rev. Grad Tanner officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery with military honors and with Laughlin Service Funeral Home in charge,
Mr. Freyder was a member of South Huntsville Kiwanis Club, Latham United Methodist Church, Huntsville Genealogy Computing Society and Coachmen Caravan Chapter No. 393. He was a retired lieutenant colonel with the Army and was also retired form USBI.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Freyder of Huntsville; three daughters, Elizabeth J. Bolger of Ambler, Pa., Suzanne V. Freyder-Jordan of Montevallo and Catherine P.F. McClurkin of Evans, Ga.; one sister, Joan M. Freyder of Chicago; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Latham United Methodist Church memorial fund or to the Huntsville chapter of Meals on Wheels.

Jennie H. Goosby
FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. - Jennie Hester Goosby of Circle Drive died today at a Lincoln County nursing home. The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. David Spray officiating.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Goosby was a housewife and a member of Molino Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Rufus Goosby of Fayetteville and James Goosby of Shelbyville, Tenn.; and two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Gilbert A. Green haw
ATHENS - Gilbert Archie Green haw, 67, of 15168 Dawson Dupree Road died Tuesday at a Huntsville hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with Van Bowers officiating.
Burial was to be in Myers Cemetery.
Mr. Green haw was a native of Limestone County, a member of Craigs Chapel Church of Christ, a Navy veteran and retired estimator from State Farm Insurance Co.
Survivors include his wife, Dean Beasley Green haw; three daughters, Linda Wagner of Chicago, Janet Nix of Lester and Judy Kirkland of Huntsville; one son, Brad Green haw of Athens; his mother, Ethel Green haw of Athens; three sisters, Clara Lewis, Mary Elmore and Mildred Beddingfield, all of Athens; one brother, David Green haw of Athens; and four grandchildren.

Roger Haggermaker
BESSEMER - Roger Dale Haggermaker, 48, died recently in Bessemer. The funeral was to be today at 1 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home in Athens with John Norman officiating.
Burial was to be in Bottom Cemetery.
Mr. Haggermaker was a native of Limestone County, a cabinet maker and an Army veteran.
Survivors include three sisters, Margaret Louise Holt of Wosso, Mich., Joyce Ann Williams of Louisville and Dora Marie Berzett of Elkmont; and two brothers, Clifton Edward Haggermaker of Elkmont and Luther J. Haggermaker of Madison.

Jewell W. Hayes
Jewell Wayne Hayes, 56, of Huntsville died Monday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Hayes was a native of Hopkinsville, Ky., and was a Vietnam veteran. He had recently moved to Huntsville from Marion, Ind.
Survivors include three sons, Richard Hayes, Jewell W. Hayes II and Tim Hayes, all of Huntsville; one brother, Danny Hayes of Marion, Ind.; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Patricia M. Holt
Patricia Mathy Holt, 67, of Huntsville died Tuesday at a local hospital. New Hope Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Mrs. Holt was a retired Huntsville City Schools math teacher. At the Senior Center she was in the Almost Dead Poets Society and Senior Singers and played softball. She held a bachelor of science degree from DePaul University.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward C. Holt.
Survivors include one sister, Michaeleen Schommer of Clintonville, Wis.; one brother, John P. Mathy of LaVerne, Calif.; and eight nieces and eight nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to Huntsville/Madison County Public Library, the Humane Society, The Ark or the Senior Center.

Allen H. Jones
GURLEY - Allen Hall Jones, 78, died Wednesday at a local hospital. Spry Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Gussie Patterson Jones of Gurley; one son, Patrick Allen Jones of Huntsville; one daughter, Elizabeth Renae Jones of Gurley; one stepdaughter, Kay Holt Lewis of Harvest; one sister, Ailene Willett of El Dorado, Ark.; and two step-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Thomas P. McGehee
OWENS CROSS ROADS - Thomas P. McGehee, 68, of 274 Worley Drive died Wednesday at a Jackson County hospital. The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at New Hope Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dewayne Martin officiating.
Burial will be in Kennamer Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Dora McGehee of Owens Cross Roads; two sons, Jerry Thomas McGehee of Rome, Ga., and Robert Wayne McGehee of Owens Cross Roads; one sister, Earlene Law of Pisgah; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Daljonne D. Nance
Daljonne Domminique Nance, 22 months, of Huntsville died Tuesday at a local hospital. The graveside service will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Indian Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Milton Brown officiating.
Royal Funeral Home will be in charge of burial.
Survivors include his parents, Jacqueline Pugh and Antonio Pugh, both of Huntsville; grandmothers, Nettie Nance and Ella Pugh, both of Huntsville; and grandfather, Kilbert Nance of Huntsville.

John G. Polatty Sr.
Retired Air Force Maj. John Gleeson Polatty Sr., 79, of Huntsville died Tuesday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. John Rutland officiating.
Entombment will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
Maj. Polatty was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and had served in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He retired from the Air Force with 27 years of service. He was a member of Alabama State Defense Force, Scottish Rites, the Masons and the American Legion.
Survivors incldue his wife, Mary E. Polatty of Huntsville; three daughters, Mary Clarice Stamper of Stone Mountain, Ga., Jackolyn Marie Straatman of Madison and Margaret Elizabeth Harbin of Huntsville; one son, John Gleeson Polatty II of Harvest; one sister, Nancy Polatty of Reno, Nev.; one brother, Thomas Polatty of Clarion, Pa.; and eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church.

Aubrey Prince
ARAB - Aubrey Prince, 84, of 47 12th Ave. N.E. died Tuesday at his home. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Gilliam Springs Baptist Church.
Burial was to be in the adjoining cemetery with Gober Funeral Home of Arab in charge.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey Prince; two daughters, Dianne Prestridge of Arab and Pam Evers of Birmingham; one sister, Rena Weaver of Decatur; and four grandchildren.

Bonnie A. Smith
MADISON - Bonnie Ann Smith, 60, died Wednesday at her home. The funeral will be Friday at 12:30 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. E. Rodney Bowling officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was a native and life-long resident of Madison County. She was a member of Flint River Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Robert Charles Smith of Madison; one sister, Wilma Nix of Piqua, Ohio; one brother, James Hodge of Huntsville; and one grandson.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Frank W. Stone Jr.
OCALA, Fla. - Frank W. Stone Jr., 72, formerly of Huntsville died Sept. 29 at his daughters home in Plymouth, Ind. The memorial service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Liberty Chapel of Hollywood Memorial Garden Cemetery in Hollywood, Fla., with the Rev. Scott Paulding officiating.
Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home in Plymouth is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Stone was a native of Huntsville, where he went to public schools as a child.
Survivors include his daughter, Linda G. Baker of Plymouth; two sons, Larry W. Stone of Ocala and Randall C. Stone of Huntsville; six brothers, William U. "Duke" Stone of St. Thomas, Pa., Ray J. Stone of Jacksonville, Fla., David Stone of Kissimee-St. Cloud, Fla., William "Bill" Stone of Fulton, Ga., and Richard Stone and Charles Stone, both of Hollywood, Fla.; and seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to Marshall County Hospice, 112 South Center St. Suite C, Plymouth, Ind., 46563.

Mary L. Turney
TONEY - Mary Lee Turney, 72, of 10664 Wall Triana Highway died Wednesday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Penny Lane Church of Christ with Bro. John Branch officiating.
Burial will be in Faith Memorial Cemetery with Royal Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include three daughters, Odis Marie Turney and Gloria Ann Turney, both of Huntsville, and Linda D. Turney of Hartselle; four sons, Marvin G. Turney of Huntsville, Earnest Turney of Albany, Ga., and William L. Turney and Jessie J. Turney, both of Toney; one sister, Earline Patterson of Decatur; and 26 grandchilden and 24 great-grandchildren.
Her body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

OWENS CROSS ROADS - Jennie C. Walls, 88, of Wilson Mann Road died Tuesday at a local hospital. New Hope Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
