Mattie M. Ballard
Mattie M. Ballard, 61, of 3120 Adonna Drive in Huntsville died Saturday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at First Church of God in Christ with Elder Curtis E. Banks officiating.
Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens with Royal Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Ballard was a member of First Church of God in Christ for 40 years. She was a secretary, a choir member, a Sunday school teacher and the manager of Sally Beauty Supply.
Survivors include two daughters, Cassandra Ballard and Bernadette West, both of Huntsville; five sisters, Ethelene Purnell, Janice Elliot, Anita Smith and Cynthia McComb, all of Huntsville, and Mary Langford of Laceys Spring; and two grandchildren.
Her body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.
Winnie D. Bohning
PONCHATOULA, La. - Winnie Davis Bohning, 94, died Tuesday at a Louisiana hospital. The funeral was today at 10:30 a.m. at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home chapel.
Burial was in Wetmore Cemetery.
Mrs. Bohning was co-founder of Bohnings Super Market in Ponchatoula. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Frank Bohning.
Survivors include three daughters, Elaine B. Kowle of Ponchatoula, Mary B. Morgan of Decatur and Margaret B. Price of Huntsville; two sons, William Bohning and John Bohning, both of Ponchatoula; and 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation started today at 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Ida Campbell
CROSSVILLE - Ida Vell Bruce Campbell, 84, of 17551 Highway 68 died Monday. The funeral was today at 11 a.m. at Albertville Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Burial was in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include one son, Tommy Campbell of Crossville; one sister, Lena Hamblin of Tennessee; and two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
William Coonrod Sr.
William Coonrod Sr., 77, of 4800 Aubrey Circle died Friday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Royal Funeral Home chapel with Pastor T.C. Johnson officiating.
Burial will be in Meadowlawn Garden of Peace.
Survivors include five daughters, Virgia Coonrod Robinson, Margaret Wherry, Patricia Coonrod and Florence Holman, all of Huntsville, and Bettye Washington of Atlanta; two sons, Billy Roy Coonrod of Huntsville and William A. Coonrod Jr. of Lexington, Ky.; and 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Lottie S. Holcomb
BOAZ - Lottie Savannah Holcomb, 94, of 9210 Highway 168 died Monday at a local hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Carr Funeral Home in Boaz.
Burial was to be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Boaz.
Survivors include two daughters, Carrie Bottenfield of California and Ann Jones of New York; one son, Charlie C. Holcomb of Boaz; two brothers, Roy Price and Clarence Price, both of Georgia; and five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
David A. Keiser
David Alan Keiser, 51, of Huntsville died Saturday in Florence. The memorial service will be today at 7 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with Lee Roy Hoekenschnieder Sr. officiating.
Mr. Keiser was a native of Pawtucket, R.I., and had lived in Madison County 13 years.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth R. Keiser of Huntsville; one daughter, Tasha Marie Keiser of Huntsville; two brothers, Kenneth Robert Keiser of San Francisco and Raymond Alburton Keiser of Seekonil, Mass.; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Lillie A. Ledbetter
NEW HOPE - Lillie Ann Ledbetter, 80, of 333 Race Track Road died Tuesday at her home. New Hope Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Hock Tai Louie
Hock Tai Louie, 93, of 111 Hunter Brown Road in Huntsville died Saturday at his home. The graveside service will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Meadowlawn Garden of Peace with the Rev. John R. Bailey officiating.
Royal Funeral Home will be in charge of burial.
Mr. Louie was born in China and came to the United States to serve in World War II and to become an American citizen.
Survivors include his care-givers, Delores Bailey, John Bailey, John Bailey Jr., Brian Bailey and Kimberly Bailey, all of Huntsville, and Vanessa Sales, Michael Sales, Dejon Sales, Jay Sales and Michael Sales Jr.
Dorothy C. Moore
ATHENS - Mrs. Dorothy ''Dot Cole Moore, 73, of 1309 Tommy Lane died Tuesday at a local hospital. A graveside service will be Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at Athens City Cemetery with Steve Yarbrough and Robert T. Stegall officiating.
McConnell Funeral Home will be in charge of burial.
Mrs. Moore was a native of Limestone County and a member of the First Christian Church. She was retired from Athens-Limestone Hospital, where she was a registered nurse for 30 years, and a 1947 graduate of Nashville General School of Nursing.
Survivors include one son, Barry Moore of Elkmont; two brothers, Robert Cole of Ashville and Paul Cole of Athens; one grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Limestone County or the American Cancer Society.
Leonard E. Parker
Leonard E. Parker, 51, of 4223 Keith St. died Friday at a local hospital. The funeral was today at noon at Royal Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Billy Jones officiating.
Burial was in Pennys Cemetery.
Survivors include one sister, Bessie Hereford of Huntsville; and one stepbrother, Leemore Thomas of Huntsville.
E.H. Proctor
SCOTTSBORO - E.H. Hugh Proctor, 84, died Monday at his home. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Hollands Chapel United Methodist Church with Revs. Donna Airheart and Burt Brewster officiating.
Burial was to be in Proctor Cemetery with Scottsboro Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Pearl Dean Proctor; one son, Tommy Proctor of Scottsboro; and two granddaughters and one great-granddaughter.
W. Shelton Ray
BATON ROUGE, La. - W. Shelton "Shel" Ray, 75, died Monday in Baton Rouge. The memorial service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Unitarian Universalist Church in Huntsville.
Mr. Ray was a former resident of Brownsboro and Huntsville and was a retired technical writer for Chrysler Corp. He was preceded in death by one son, Gary Shelton Ray.
Survivors include his wife, Mavis M. Ray of Brownsboro; two daughters, Stephanie C. Hobbs of Arab and Cheryl A. George of Hammond, La.; one son, Ronald R. Ray of Brownsboro; and seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Arthur Smith
Arthur Smith, 63, of Huntsville died Monday at a local hospital. Twickenham Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Tia D. Sossamon
JOPLIN, Mo. - Tia D. Sossamon, 37, died Tuesday at a Missouri hospital. The funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Forest Park Baptist Church with the Rev. John Swadley officiating.
Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Parker Mortuary funeral home of Joplin in charge.
Ms. Sossamon moved to Joplin from Huntsville five months ago. She was head coach of UAH womens basketball team for five years and had played college and professional basketball.
Survivors include her parents, Bhurle and Pat Sossamon of Joplin; one brother, Matt Sossamon of Carl Junction, Mo.; one sister, Toi Conway; her paternal grandmother, Hazel Grace Sossamon of Fort Smith, Ark.; and two nephews.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
James J. Welden Jr.
McMINNVILLE, Tenn. - James N. Welden Jr., 46, died Monday at a local hospital. The funeral was today at 11 a.m. at the New Bethel Baptist Church in Ider, Ala., with the Rev. Arland Welden officiating.
Burial was in Welden Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Marissa Nichole Welden of Trenton, Ga., and Amy Rebecca Welden of Soddy Daisy, Tenn.; his mother, Wilma Dodd of McMinnville; one sister, Pam Rosson of Franklin, Tenn.; one brother, Adam Dodd of McMinnville; and his grandmother, Lena Mae Sanderson of Lebanon, Tenn.
