Bernice I. Acklin
Bernice I. Acklin, 82, of 402 South Plymouth St., died Thursday at her home. The funeral will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Briar Fork C.P. Church with the Rev. Theodis Acklin officiating.
Burial will be in Indian Creek Cemetery with Royal Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include one daughter, Susie Acklin of Huntsville; four sons, Luther Acklin, Edward Acklin, Rogers Acklin and Ricky Acklin, all of Huntsville; one sister, Willie Mae Ervin of Huntsville; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Alma N. Brooks
TRUSSVILLE - Alma H. Nelson Brooks, 81, of North Chalkville Road, formerly of Athens, died Thursday at a Trussville nursing home. The funeral will be today at 3 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Jimmy Clark officiating.
Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery.
Mrs. Brooks was a member of Bethel Church of Christ.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to the Bethel Church of Christ.

Lavoy Buntley
LEWISBURG, Tenn. - Lavoy Buntley, 92, of 473 Colburn Drive died Friday at a Lewisburg hospital. The graveside service will be today at 3 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Fayetteville with Bro. Charles Williamson officiating.
Mr. Buntley was a native of Lincoln County and a member of Church Street Church of Christ. He was retired from Bordens and the Marshall County, Tenn., Co-op.
Survivors include one daughter Beulah Ann Whorley of Lewisburg; one granddaughter, Rebecca Ann Hutcheson of Fairview, Tenn.

Hallie Dunham
MADISON - Hallie Dunham, 89, died Friday at a Huntsville hospital.
The graveside service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery with the Rev. William B. ''Billy Ealy officiating.
Spry Funeral Home will be directing.
Mrs. Dunham was a native of DeKalb County, Tenn., a resident of Huntsville since 1920 and a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include one brother, Henry Dunham of Huntsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Michael Givens Sr.
WEATHERFORD, Texas - Michael ''Mike Givens Sr., 48, died Thursday at his home. The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. in the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel in Weatherford with Ernie Hewett officiating.
Mr. Givens was a retired locksmith, a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and worked with the Boy Scouts.
Survivors include his wife, Mabel Givens; one daughter, Suzanne Willingham; one son, Michael Dewayne Givens Jr., both of Weatherford; his father, George Clark Sr. of Huntsville; his sisters, Anita Chapman and Karen Childers, both of Clyde, Texas, Linda Dodson of Austin, Texas, Catherine Monroe and Sue Morris, both of Abilene, Texas, and Trisha Blazauskas of Fairfield, Ohio; one brother, George Givens Jr. of Huntsville; and one grandchild.

William Holliday
NEW CARROLLTON, Md. - William ''Bill Holliday, 87, formerly of Huntsville, died Friday in New Carrollton. Laughlin Service Funeral Home will announce the arrangements.
Mr. Holliday was retired from Huntsville Manufacturing and was a member of Hillsboro Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Ila Myers of New Carrollton; three granddaughters, one great-granddaughter and one great-grandson.
Visitation will be at Laughlin on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Crystal D. Kurzban
Crystal Dawn Kurzban, 14, of Huntsville died Wednesday at a local hospital. Valhalla Funeral Home will announce arrangements.
Ms. Kurzban was a student at Buckhorn High School.
Survivors include her parents, David and Yiye Cherney of New York City and Stephen and Cely Kurzban of Huntsville; one sister, Angela Kurzban of Huntsville; and her grandparents, Rosemary and Malcolm Kurzban of Miami Beach, Fla., and Tissie Doblada of Huntsville.

Janet C. Obiyor
Janet C. Obiyor, 65, of 2400-F 12th St. died Nov. 6 at a local hospital. The funeral will be today at 11 a.m. at Royal Funeral Home with Dr. Wendell Thompson officiating.
Burial will be in Obiyor Cemetery in Owerri, Nigeria, with Royal Funeral Home directing local arrangements.
Survivors include three daughters, Esther Igwe of Lagos, Nigeria, Naozi Nrwazema of Owerri and Joy Obiyor of Jos, Nigeria; six sons, Chief Mike Amaike of Aba, Nigeria, Ike Obiyor, Chuks Obiyor, Godwin Obiyor and Chemizie Obiyor, all of Owerri, and George Obiyor of Huntsville; and 20 grandchildren.

Steve Purdy
BAYTOWN, Texas - Steve Purdy, 49, formerly of Huntsville, died Friday at a Texas hospital. The funeral will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home in Baytown with Dr. Richard Steel of Cedar Bayou Baptist Church.
Burial will be at Cedarcrest Cemetery in Baytown.
Mr. Purdy was a native of Huntsville. He was a homebuilder and a member of Cedar Bayou Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Purdy; one son, Alex Purdy; one daughter, Carrie Marie Webb, both of Baytown; his parents, Henry and Marie Purdy; one brother, Alan Purdy, all of Huntsville; and one grandchild, Kerrigan Brooke Webb of Baytown.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ellen D. Sledge
Ellen Darnell Sledge, 41, of 5001 Lumary Drive in Huntsville died Wednesday at a local hospital. The funeral will be today at 1 p.m. at Victory Church of God in Christ with Elder Bobby R. Sledge officiating.
Survivors include one daughter, Veronica Pleshette Sledge of Huntsville; two sons, James Lavar Sledge and Demeco ONeal Sledge, both of Huntsville; her mother, Mattie King Sledge of Huntsville; four sisters, Martha Ellen Anderson, Nancy Louise Davis and Evelyn Lenore Sledge, all of Huntsville and Alice Marie Smith of Rogersville; four brothers, Charles Payton Sledge, Jimmy Lee Sledge and Johnny Lee Sledge, all of Huntsville, and Milton Lee Sledge of Louisville, Ky.; and one granddaughter.
Her body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

Howard T. Tapscott
SOMERVILLE - Howard Taft ''Shorty Tapscott, 73, of Somerville died Wednesday at a Morgan County nursing home. The funeral will be today at noon at Reynolds Funeral Home with the Rev. George Franklin officiating.
Burial will be in Garner Cemetery.
Mr. Tapscott served in the Army during World War II and was a member of Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Howard Tapscott Jr. of Detroit and William Tapscott and Anthony Tapscott, both of Seattle; one daughter, Denice Tapscott of Seattle; one brother, Arby Tapscott of Hartselle; three sisters, Carolyn Leamon of Huntsville, Lula Draper of Valhermoso Springs and Edith Williams of Hartselle; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

George E. Thomas
BRIDGEPORT - George Elmer Thomas, 55, of Bridgeport died Wednesday. The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson with the Rev. Waymon Love and the Rev. Ronnie Case officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Survivors include his stepfather, Howard Gothard of Henagar; two sisters, Crystal Parham of Chattanooga and Ruby Mayo of South Pittsburg, Tenn.; and two brothers, Howard Gothard of South Pittsburg and Robert Gothard of Chattanooga.

Evie Wilks
ARAB - Evie Wilks, 89, died Friday at her home. The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church.
Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Gober Funeral Home of Arab directing.
Survivors include two brothers, Howard Wilks and Ellis Wilks, both of Arab; two sisters, Ozetta Johnston of Oxford and Vergie Nell Lanford of Huntsville; and several nieces and nephews.
