James F. Akin
SCOTTSBORO - James F. ''Busy Akin, 86, died Sunday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Pinehaven Memorial Gardens in Hollywood.
Mr. Akin was preceded in death by one daughter, Faye Akin; and one son, Kenneth E. Akin.
Survivors include his wife, Bertha Lee Akin; one daughter, Shirley Thacker of Georgetown, S.C.; two sons, Jerry W. Akin of Zephyrhills, Fla., and James L.Akin of Bridgeport; one brother, Bill Akin of Scottsboro; and 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was to be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Gracie Beech
HINDSBORO, Ill. - Gracie Lee Odell Beech, 85, died Friday at her home. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Taylor-Ardmore Funeral Home in Ardmore, Ala., with Pastor Horace Honea officiating.
Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Abrom Beech of Charleston, Ill.; six daughters, Nancy Jean Ryan of Effingham, Ill., Frances Oween Lemons of Manchester, Tenn., Coye Fuller and Merle Dee Ingram, both of Charleston, Bonnie Lee of Birmingham; and Charlotte Young of Hindsboro; four sisters, Hattie Pirtle of Fayetteville, Tenn., Zana Puckett of Ardmore, Ala., Lola Wilburn of Huntsville and Katie Hillis of Charleston; and 30 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Donald G. Bryant
ARAB - Donald Glen Bryant, 32, of 248 County Road 1866 died Saturday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Arab Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Baileyton Cemetery.
Survivors include his mother, Dixie Baxter of Guntersville; father, Glen Bryant of Laceys Spring; his fiance, Rhonda Baxter of Arab; grandmother, Odell Bryant of Fairview; one step-brother, Lester Paul DuPre of Hazel Green ; and one step-sister, Molly Camp of Guntersville.
Visitation will be today from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity in memory of Don Bryant.

Homer C. Daniel Sr.
Homer Clifton Daniel Sr., 79, of Huntsville died Sunday at a local hospital. Laughlin Service Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Daniel was a deacon at First Baptist Church, an advocate of the Lurleen B. Wallace Center, a member of the TROA and had served on foreign mission trips.
Survivors include his wife, Milbra Grayce Daniel of Huntsville; one daughter, Ouida Dickinson of Huntsville; four sons, Homer C. Daniel Jr. of San Anselmo, Calif., Scott Clay Daniel of Huntsville, Michael Lamb of Nashville and Patrick Lamb of Pacifica, Calif.; four sisters, Wilma Gattis, Betty Willis and Ola Bean Stiles, all of Huntsville, and Margaret Reeser of Tampa, Fla.; and nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church building fund.

Viola J. Davies
GUNTERSVILLE - Viola Jackson Davies, 75, of 194 Meadowbrook Drive died Saturday at a Huntsville hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Guntersville Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Burial was to be in Marshall Memorial Garden.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Jordan and Elmer Jordan, both of Guntersville; one stepson, George T. Davies of Birmingham; one sister, Laura Hipp of Madison; one brother, Julius Jackson of Guntersville; and two grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Marshall County.

Deward C. Hargrove
ARDMORE, Tenn. - Deward Clark "Duddie" Hargrove, 74, of Union Hill Road died Sunday at his home. The funeral will be Tuesday at noon at Taylor-Ardmore Funeral Home chapel.
Burial will be in Elliott Cemetery.
Survivors include two brothers, Lonnie "Sonny" Hargrove of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., and Winfred "Dickie" Hargrove of Salem; four sisters, Sadie Scoggin of Pulaski, Tenn., Alberta Bates of Ardmore, Tenn., and Doris Oliver and Mavis Ann Amith, both of Ardmore, Ala.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dorothy J. Herrmann
Dorothy J. Herrmann, 79, of Huntsville died Saturday at a local hospital. No funeral is planned. Visitation will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Laughlin Service Funeral Home.
Mrs. Herrmann was PTA president at Cannady School in East St. Louis, Ill., and a member of Fairview Heights Church of Christ in Illinois.
Survivors include one daughter, Sherry D. Herrmann of Madison, and many nieces and nephews.

Alfred Holliday
Alfred Holliday, 87, of 2708 9th Ave. died Saturday at his residence. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Albertville Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Burial was to be in Hibbs Cemetery.
Survivors include four daughters, Carolyn Smith of Birmingham, Neta Lang of Albertville, Margaret Hancock of Boaz and Kate Holliday of Huntsville; one son, Donald Holliday of Boaz; three sisters, Julia Quarles, Gracie Smith and Bertha Burns, all of Gadsden; one brother, Ralph Holliday of Boaz; and nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Alvie D. Jean
Alvie Donald Jean, 60, of Huntsville died Friday at his home. The funeral was to be today at 1 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. John Thweatt officiating.
Burial was to be in Plainview Cemetery.
Mr. Jean was a native of Madison County and a retired truck driver. He was a member of Highland Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his first wife, Patsy Jones Jean; and one daughter, Joyce Ann Jean.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Owens Jean; two daughters, Kathie Jean and Linda Dumont, both of Huntsville; one son, Jimmy Jean of South Carolina; one stepdaughter, Debbie McCarver of Smithfield, N.C.; one stepson, Gary Harbin of Peachtree, Ga.; his mother, Lillie Belle Jean of Huntsville; three sisters, Mildred Smith of Memphis, Margaret Weeks of Huntsville and Peggy Crutcher of Ardmore, Tenn.; one brother, Austin Jean of Huntsville; and nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be sent to the Highland Baptist Church building fund or to Hospice Family Care.

Birtia G. Jefferson
MADISON - Birtia G. Jefferson, 95, of 106 Perry St. died Friday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Tuesday at noon at St. Elizabeth C.P. Church in Madison with the Rev. John Holden officiating.
Royal Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Jefferson was a native of Madison and a member of St. Elizabeth C.P. Church.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Her body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

Annie F. Jones
ARDMORE, Ala. - Annie Florence Jones, 70, of Gatlin Road died Saturday at a Pulaski, Tenn., hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Taylor-Ardmore Funeral Home chapel with Bro. G.K. Woods officiating.
Burial was to be in Gatlin Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Wayne Moss of Ardmore, Ala.; two sons, Ernest Jones and Billy Jones, both of Ardmore, Tenn.; two stepsons, Christopher Moss and Jimmy Moss, both of Ardmore, Ala.; two daughters, Betty Sims of Nashville and Sharon Jones of Ardmore, Ala.; one brother, A.C. Brown of Athens; five sisters, Louise Stewart and Mary Ashby, both of Taft, Tenn., Alma Jaco of Fayetteville, Tenn., Frances Wood of Ardmore, Tenn., and Jannie Patterson of Coldwater, Tenn.; and two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

Paul A. Jordan
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Paul A. Jordan, 83, died Sunday. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Fred Jordan officiating.
Burial will be in Charlotte Memorial Gardens with McEwen Funeral Home Mint Hill Chapel in charge.
Survivors include his wife, Rachel Whitener Jordan of Charlotte; one son, Timothy A. Jordan of Huntsville; one daughter, Tina J. Boals of Cedar Grove, Tenn.; three sisters, Dorothy J. Whisant and Helen J. Hooks, both of Charlotte, and Mary J. Goodwin of Ashville, N.C.; and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to Hickory Grove United Methodist Church, 6410 Hickory Grove Road, Charlotte, 28215.

William J. Lee
William J. Lee, 80, of Huntsville died Sunday at a local hospital. Laughlin Service Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens.
Survivors include his wife, Callie Lee of Huntsville; one son, William J. Lee Jr. of Huntsville; one sister, Bethol Miller of Huntsville; and one granddaughter.

Hiram T. Richey
BOAZ - The Rev. Hiram T. Richey, 89, died Sunday at his home. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Rainsville Funeral Home with the Rev. John Satterfield and the Rev. Verlon Stiefel officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
Rev. Richey was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Shirley Richey.
Survivors include two daughters, Maxine Graves of Anniston and Majory Beam of Grove Oak; one son, Kenneth Richey of Boaz; one sister, Flora Raines of Georgia; two brothers, Audren Richey of Grove Oak and Donald Richey of Albertville; and seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation was to be today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ralph B. Smith
Dr. Ralph Benton Smith, 79, of Huntsville died today at a local nursing home. Laughlin Service Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Miriam Smith of Huntsville; two sons, Ralph Benton Smith Jr. of Columbia, S.C., and Alan Randolph Smith of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and two grandchildren.

Louise Stiles
Louise Stiles, 62, of Huntsville died Sunday at her home. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery.
Spry Funeral Home will be in charge of burial.
Miss Stiles was a lifelong resident of Madison County, a member of American Legion Post No. 276 Ladies Auxiliary and was retired from the office of Dr. Truman W. Johnson after working there 32 years.
Survivors include one daughter, Alethea K. "Cricket" Sanders of Albertville; one sister, Marie Adams of Ardmore, Ala.; one brother, Robert Stiles of New Market; and one granddaughter.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Family and friends will gather at the cemetery.

Ruth J. Taylor
NEW MARKET - Ruth Jacks Taylor, 81, of Walker Lane died Sunday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Union Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Donnie Amason, the Rev. Harold Fanning and the Rev. Rodney Bowling officiating.
Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery with Gallant Funeral Home of Hazel Green in charge.
Mrs. Taylor was a Madison County native, a housewife and a member of Union Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, J.H. Taylor of New Market; one daughter, Laura Eickholt of Meridianville; three sons, Bob Taylor and Bill Taylor, both of New Market, and Tom Taylor of Montgomery; and nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation was to be today at 2 p.m. at Mrs. Taylors home.
Her body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

Charles Wallace
HAZEL GREEN - Charles Wallace, 70, of Dixon Road died Sunday at his home. Gallant Funeral Home of Hazel Green will announce funeral arrangements.

Joan C. Zelickson
Joan Carol Zelickson, 65, of Huntsville died Saturday at a local hospital. The gravesdie service was Sunday at Maple Hill Cemetery with Dr. W. Goldberg officiating.
Laughlin Service Funeral Home was in charge of burial.
Mrs. Zelickson was a member at the Senior Center and Etz Chayim Synagogue.
Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey Zelickson of Huntsville and David Zelickson of Long Beach, Calif.; one daughter, Renee Zelickson of Huntsville; two sisters, Rosalee Lobel of New York City and Dorothy Sax of California; and four grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to Etz Chayim Synagogue, 7705 Bailey Cove Road, Huntsville, 35801.

Paula Kissinger
NEW YORK - Paula Kissinger, the mother of former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, has died. She was 97.
Mrs. Kissinger, who held the Bible at the 1973 White House ceremony in which her first-born son assumed the countrys highest Cabinet post, died Sunday at Manhattans Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center.
Fleeing the Nazis in Germany, Mrs. Kissinger arrived in the United States in 1940 with her husband and two young sons. She quickly learned the language and became a cook and caterer to supplement the familys income.
She returned to Germany a few times, once to see her son awarded an honorary degree.
First you get chased away, and then you get treated like royalty," she said.
