Katie M. Anerton
ATHENS - Katie McClellan Anerton, 87, of Hobbs St. died Friday at an Athens hospital. A graveside service will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Athens City Cemetery with Jimmy Clark officiating and Spry Funeral Home directing.
Miss Anerton was a native of Limestone County, a member of Bethel Church of Christ and a homemaker.
Survivors include two sisters, Ellen Louise Acuff of Athens and Betty Aldridge of New Market; two brothers, Charles L. Anerton of Arab and Nick Norman Anerton of Huntsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Clara O. Baker
Clara O. Baker, 83, of Huntsville died Thursday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. Melvin Kilpatrick officiating.
A graveside service will be at Anniston Memorial Gardens at 3:45 p.m. that day.
Survivors include one son, James E. Baker of Titusville, Fla.; one daughter, Elizabeth Gail Blanks of Huntsville; one sister, Mary Alice Phillips of Nashville; one brother, John Edward Howell of Mapleton, Ga.; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Rosalie M. Carter
Rosalie McMeans Carter of Oster Drive died Thursday at a Huntsville hospital. The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Gallant Funeral Chapel with Byron Laird and Tim Rice officiating.
Burial will be in Charity Cemetery.
Mrs. Carter was a Tennessee native, a Redstone Arsenal retiree and a member of West Huntsville Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon Carter; one son, Rod Carter of Bowling Green, Ky.; one sister, Raye Graves of Groveland, Ill.; and two grandchildren.
Arlene Cooper
Arlene Fisher Cooper, 85, of Huntsville died Tuesday at a local nursing home. The funeral will be today at 1 p.m. at Progressive Union M.B. Church with the Rev. Wayne Snodgrass officiating.
Burial will be in Northside Cemetery with Nelms Memorial Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include a daughter, Muzett Baxter of Huntsville, one grandson; and three great-grandchildren.
Her body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.
John F. Dillon IV
ALEXANDER CITY - John Forrest Dillon IV, 68, died Friday. The graveside service will be Sunday at Alexander City Cemetery at 4 p.m.
Mr. Dillon was an attorney and Alexander City civic leader. He served as attorney for Alexander City, the Alexander City Board of Education, Central of Georgia Railroad and Norfolk-Southern Railroad.
Mr. Dillon was president of the Tallapoosa County Bar Association. He was a past director of the Alexander City Chamber of Commerce and a first lieutenant in the Army where he served in Korea. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth M. Dillon.
Survivors include his second wife, Robbie G. Dillon; one daughter, Breck Wheeler of Nashville; one stepson, Andy Gothard of Panama City, Fla.; one stepson, Honey Haynes of Alexander City; one brother, William Dillon of Huntsville; one sister, Virginia D. Gorman of Montgomery and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be today at Radney Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to St. James Episcopal Church in Alexander City.
Kenneth W. Eubanks
ATHENS - Kenneth Wayne Eubanks, 53, of Madison St. died Monday at his home. The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Roger Jackson officiating.
Burial will be in Miller Cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Eubanks was a native of Limestone County, an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and Vietnam Veterans of America. He was a member of Northside Church of God.
Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer Ann Eubanks of Athens; one son, Dr. Kenneth Dewayne Eubanks of Tuscumbia; three sisters, Pansy Eubanks Franklin of Ludlow, Ky., Linda Eubanks Watson of Athens and Edith Eubanks Eastep of Lewisburg, Tenn.; one brother, John W. Eubanks Jr. of Ardmore; and five grandchildren.
R.J. Gore
ARAB - R.J. Gore, 75, of 511 7th St. NE died Thursday at a local hospital. The funeral will be today at 4 p.m. at Arab Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Arab Memorial Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Donna H. Gore; two daughters, Sandra G. Bales and Donna G. Kirkland, both of Arab; one sister, Essie Gore of Gadsden; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
William Kelly
William Timothy "Tim" Kelly, 30, of Huntsville died Friday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Twickenham Funeral Home East, 6262 U.S. 431 South.
Visitation is Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Eva Mae McDole
ATHENS - Eva Mae McDole, 94, of 1310 Stephens Ave. died Friday at an Athens hospital. The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny McMullins officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Eloise Tingley and Lucille Philpot; one brother, Leonard McLemore, all of Athens; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Marian L. Reilly
Marian L. Reilly, 89, of Huntsville died Thursday at a local rehabilitation center. Arrangements will be announced by Twickenham Funeral Home.
Irene J. Roan
Dr. Irene J. Roan, 72, of Huntsville died Thursday at her home. The funeral will be Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Faith Presbyterian Church with Dr. Henry Pope officiating.
Burial will be at 5:30 p.m. in Guntersville City Cemetery with Laughlin Service Funeral Home directing.
Dr. Roan had a private pediatric practice and was chief of occupational medicine at Redstone Arsenal before she retired in 1988. She was an adjunct faculty member at the local medical school. A supporter of the Charlotte Drive branch library, she was also a member of Faith Presbyterian.
Visitation will be at the church an hour before the funeral.
Memorial donations may be made to Faith Presbyterian Church or the Charlotte Drive branch library.
Cushman Roberson Sr.
ATHENS - Cushman A. Roberson Sr., 71, of Ripley Road died Thursday at his home. The funeral will be today at 11 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Bobby Marks officiating.
Burial will be in Sunnyhill Cemetery.
Mr. Roberson was a World War II veteran and a Methodist.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Rochell Roberson; three sons, Cushman A. Roberson Jr. and Marty D. Roberson, both of Athens, and Gary Wayne Roberson of Bowling Green, Ky.; two sisters, Mavoline Wilbanks of Athens and Teresa Jewell of Rogersville; one brother, Franklin Roberson of Athens; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Dile Shoemaker
ATHENS - Dile Shoemaker, 86, of 1600 West Hobbs St. died Thursday at a Limestone nursing home. The funeral will be today at 4 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with Jack Freeman officiating.
Burial will be in Poplar Creek Cemetery.
Mrs. Shoemaker was a native of Trinity, a resident of Athens for 80 years and a member of West Highland Baptist Church for 32 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave Shoemaker.
Survivors include one son, Owen Bloodworth of Athens; one daughter, Clara Reba Ferrell of Cairo community; six grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Romer Spears
OXFORD - Romer Spears, 90, of Oxford died Thursday in an Anniston hospital. The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Albertville.
Burial will be in Lathamville Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Spears.
Survivors include two daughters, Sara White of Huntsville and Mildred Bright of Georgia; one son, Charles Spears of Oxford; four sisters, Louise Prater of Florida, Alma Prater of Georgia, Myrtle Ogle of Albertville and Corene Cothran of Centre; two brothers, Hugh Cothran of Centre and J.T. Cothran of Boaz; and five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Michael E. Sweeney
Michael Edward Sweeney, 63, of Huntsville died Thursday at his home. The funeral will be announced by Laughlin Service Funeral Home.
Mr. Sweeney was a longtime radio reporter in the Tennessee Valley. He won the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Huntsville Advertising Federation for his commercial work.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara S. Sweeney of Huntsville; and several cousins.
Visitation will be Sunday at Laughlin from 5 to 8 p.m.

Inez Towry
FAYETTEVILLE - Inez Washburn Towry, 85, of 60 Pleasant Grove Road died Friday at a nursing home. The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Langford officiating.
Burial will be in Kirkland Cemetery.
Mrs. Towry was a Lincoln County native, a homemaker and a member of Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Kelby Towry; two sons, Wayne Towry and Weldon Towry, both of Fayetteville; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Higgins.
LeRoy H. Willy
LeRoy H. Willy, 65, of Huntsville died Thursday at a local hospital. A memorial service will be held in Indiana with Laughlin Service Funeral Home in charge of local arrangements.
Survivors include four daughters, Lorraine Borden of Delphi, Ind., Liza Lotz of St. Joseph, Mich., and Trudy Willy and Leah Willy, both of LaGrange, Ky.; and five sisters, one brother and a special friend, Ann Furlough.
Skylar Yates
ARAB - Skylar Ty Mitchell Yates, infant son of Terry and Amy Yates of 4255 Eddy-Scant City Road, died Thursday at a Birmingham hospital. The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Arab Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Arab Memorial Cemetery.
The infant is survived by one brother, Jordan Yates of Arab; his grandparents, Janice and Sherman Smith of Cullman and Robert and Sandra Hardin of Arab; his great-grandparents, Marshall and Dorothy Hardin of Arab, John and Shirley Snow of Texas, Henry and Madeline Allen of Oklahoma, Eunice Akin of Falkville and Elmer Akin of Cullman; and his great-great-grandmother, Virgie Tannehill of Oklahoma.
