ARAB - Lewis Alfred Absher, 76, died Saturday at a local hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Gober Funeral Home in Arab.
Burial was to be in Hebron Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine Absher; one daughter, Rosemary Ware of Georgia; four sons, Herbert Absher of Georgia, Garry Absher of Ryan and Jimmy Absher and Johnny Absher, both of Boaz; two sisters, Ruby Johnson of Arab and Myra Woodall of Hulaco; and 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Caroline P. Barrett
Caroline Powell Barrett, 20, of Huntsville died Sunday in Atlanta. Laughlin Service Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Miss Barrett was a 1996 Huntsville High School graduate and was attending college in Atlanta. She was an honor student.
Survivors include her mother, Donna Barrett Schremsher of Huntsville; her father, Thomas Powell Barrett of Roswell, Ga.; her stepfather, Robert Schremsher of Huntsville; her stepmother, Terri Barrett of Roswell, Ga.; one sister, Hannah Elizabeth Schremsher of Huntsville; two brothers, Thomas Joseph "T.J." Barrett and Alex Barrett, both of Roswell; and her grandparents, Helen Thompson of Tampa, Fla., and Florence and Marshall Barrett of Millington, Tenn.; step-grandmother, Annie Pearl Schremsher of St. Cloud, Fla.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

L.D. Berry
RAINSVILLE - L.D. Berry, 81, of Rainsville, died Friday. The funeral was Sunday at Rainsville Church of God with Revs. Gary Haymon, Alvin Nabors and James Berry officiating.
Burial will be in Mountain View Memory Gardens with Rainsville Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Berry; one daughter, Sue Everett of Fort Payne; one son, Randall Berry of Rainsville; two sisters, Novella Jones of Rainsville and Ola Mae Smith of Jackson, Miss.; and seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

James T. Branch
James T. Branch, 79, of Huntsville died Saturday at his home. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. Edd Edger and James Phelps officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Branch was a lifelong resident of Madison County, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a former military police officer.
Survivors include three brothers, Felix "Buck" Branch and W.T. Branch Sr., both of Huntsville, and Alvie Branch of Estelle Springs, Tenn.; five sisters, Nannie Cobb, Louella "Helen" Sanderson, Gladys Branch and Barbara Branch, all of Huntsville, and Mary "Mae" Willard of Harvest; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is today at the funeral home.

Fred Carter
CHATTANOOGA - Fred Carter, 62, died Friday at his home. The funeral was Sunday at Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar with the Rev. Rodney Hammonds officiating.
Burial was in New Home Cemetery in Rosalie, Ala.
Mr. Carter was a Baptist and was a retired employee of Eclipse Corp. and a member of Eagles Fraternal Order of Aerie No. 2942.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbi Carter; one daughter, Kimberly Gilbert of Chattanooga; one stepdaughter, Toni Overby of Chattanooga; his mother, Artie C. Carter of Pisgah, Ala.; one sister, Dorothy Wicks of Milton, Fla.; four brothers, Hugh Carter, Troy Carter, Gene Carter and Zack Carter, all of Pisgah; and one grandson and two step-grandsons.

Ava D. Cochran
ALBERTVILLE - Ava Dell Cochran, 75, of 1310 Highway 75 North died Saturday at a local nursing home. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Albertville Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Burial was to be in Marshall Memorial Garden.
Survivors include her husband, Etsell Cochran; one daughter, Charlotte Smith of Albertville; and four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

John H. Combs
SCOTTSBORO - John Howard Combs, 75, died Saturday at his home. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at the Broad Street Church of Christ with Johnny Mack Young officiating.
Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery with Rudder Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Combs was a World War II veteran in the U.S. Army Air Corp, a retired owner and operator of C & C Appliance in Scottsboro and a member of the Broad Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ruth Combs; three daughters, Linda Cunningham of Scottsboro, Cheryl Ellis of Grant and Brenda Price of Highland, Tenn.; one son, Tom Combs of Scottsboro; five sisters, Mary Peden of Marietta, Ga., Kathleen Deutrich of Bush, La., Mina Benedetto of Hialeah, Fla., Shirley Scola of Lady Lake, Fla., and Bobbie Penny of Wetumpka; three brothers, Prentiss Combs of Scottsboro, Glen Combs of California and Jimmy Combs of Montgomery; and 9 grandchildren.

Warden H. Cook
Warden Harold Cook of Huntsville died Saturday at his home. The funeral was to be today at 1 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Drs. Mel A. Strain and William G. Cockrill officiating.
The graveside service will be today at 4 p.m. at Florence City Cemetery with Laughlin Service Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Cook was a retired chemical engineer and had continued to work as a gemologist and a personal property manager. A native of Eskridge, Kan., he graduated from Kansas State College and the Gemological Institute of America, where he also taught and lectured.
He was a World War II veteran and served in the European theater with the 311th Ordinance Battalion of the 9th Air Defense Command. He attained the rank of lieutenant colonel. He was a member of the Rotary Club, the Appraiser Association of America, the Decorative Arts Trust and the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts. He was also an associate member of the Textile Museum.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine Trousdale Cook of Huntsville; four nephews, James P. Cook of Tucson, Ward Harold Cook of Topeka, Kan., and Preston Simson Trousdale Jr. and Albert Johnson Trousdale, both of Florence; and one niece and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or a favorite charity.
Visitation was to be today from noon to 1 p.m. at the church.

Lutie W. Dean
ATHENS - Lutie W. Dean, 87, died Sunday at her home. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home in Athens with Calvin Havens and Dee Lauderdale officiating.
Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Dean was a homemaker, a charter member of Friendship United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, G.J. ''Jack Dean.
Survivors include one daughter, Joann D. Rochester of Athens; four sons, Charles J. Dean of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Billy R. Dean of Nashville, Don W. Dean of Athens and Edward Dale Dean of Huntsville; one sister, Gladys W. Beavers of Athens; and 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County or to Building Fund, Friendship United Methodist Church.

Sandra F. Faiss
Sandra Faye Faiss, 47, of Huntsville died Saturday at her home. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel in Rainsville.
Internment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
She was an antique collector and was preceded in death by her father, Robert Blackburn.
Survivors include her husband, Glen Faiss of Huntsville; two sons, Jason Stevenson and Kyle Faiss, both of Huntsville; two daughters, Ginelle Stevenson and Vanessa Faiss, both of Huntsville; her mother and stepfather, Lois and Buel Mays of Ider; and two brothers, Don Blackburn of Ider and Larry Blackburn of Akron.
Visitation is today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Twickenham Funeral Home South and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at W.T. Wilson Funeral Home.

Annie Hereford
Annie Lee Douglas Hereford, 85, of Huntsville died Friday at her home. The funeral will be Tuesday at noon at Indian Creek P.B. Church with the Rev. Timothy Rainey officiating.
Burial will be in Indian Creek Cemetery with Nelms Memorial Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include two daughters, Ollie Sallings and Elnora Jeffries, both of Huntsville; and one son, Amos Hereford of Nashville.

Eddie G. Hockaday
Eddie G. Hockaday, 94, of Huntsville died Saturday at a local hospital. The funeral was today at 11 a.m. at Valhalla Memory Gardens with the Rev. Bobby Tillman officiating.
Valhalla Funeral Home is in charge of burial.
Mr. Hockaday was retired from Redstone Arsenal after many years as a foreman. He also served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Tillman Hockaday of Huntsville, and several nieces and nephews.

L.B. Hughes
HARVEST - L.B. Hughes, 67, died Saturday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Taylor-Ardmore Funeral Home with the Revs. Earnest Hill and Richard Reynolds officiating.
Burial will be in Fowlkes Cemetery in Monrovia.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Knox Hughes of Harvest; one son, Michael Anthony Hughes of Harvest; one daughter, Lisa Hughes Ingram of Huntsville; and two grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation is today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral.

Harvie P. Jones
Harvie P. Jones, 68, of Huntsville died Saturday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Mel Strain officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Jones was a native of Madison County and was a principal in the firm of Jones and Herrin Architecture/Interior Design for 31 years. His projects include Alabamas Constitution Village, Weeden House, the Huntsville Depot Museum, various Burritt Museum and Park buildings, homes and churches in historic districts and many preservation and restoration projects in Alabama, Tennessee and Savannah, Ga. He received more than 30 design awards for architectural excellence.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn "Lynn" M. Jones of Huntsville; three daughters, Anne Nieman of Tallahasee, Martha Lofty of Huntsville and Evelyn Ferrero of Round Rock, Texas; one son, Steven Jones of Huntsville; two stepdaughters, Steve-Anna Stephens of Boston and Jennifer Lynn Aylesworth of Framingham, Mass.; one stepson, William Daniel "Dan" Stephens of Alpharetta, Ga.; two sisters, Dr. Edith Ledbetter of Rogersville and Emily Good of Las Cruces, N.M.; one brother, Howard C. Jones, Jr. of New Market; and three granddaughters and three grandsons.
Visitation is today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Bobbie C. Moore
MARIETTA, Ga. - Bobbie Cope Moore, 66, died Sunday at her home. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Laughlin Service Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Emerson Lyle officiating.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Herring of Marietta and Anissa Morton of Huntsville; two sisters, Estelle Henley and Geneva Vassar, both of Huntsville; and two granddaughters.
Visitation is today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to Whitesburg Baptist Church Women/Widows Ministry.

Basil K. Poole Sr.
GUNTERSVILLE - Basil Keith Poole Sr., 67, died Saturday at a localhospital. A graveside military service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m.at Marshall Memorial Garden.
Carr Funeral Home of Guntersville will be in charge of burial.
Mr. Poole was retired from the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Postal Service.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Poole; one son, Basil K. Poole Jr. of Prattville; and two grandchildren.

Ruth N. Satterfield
TRUSSVILLE - Ruth Nagenuia "Jeanie" Satterfield, 69, formerly of Dawson died Sunday at an area hospital. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ray Kittle officiating.
Burial will be in Mountain View Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Satterfield was a native of DeKalb County and was a member of Springville Road Community Church and the Christian Womens Club.
Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Sims of Birmingham; two grandchildren, Kyle Sims and Amanda Laughlin; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Clifford N. Smock
SCOTTSBORO - Clifford Nathan Smock, 73, of Scottsboro, died Saturday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Rudder Funeral Home with the Rev. C.W. Blazak officiating.
Burial will be in Pinehaven Memorial Gardens in Hollywood.
Mr. Smock was a retired chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars organization, the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Fraternal Order of Moose.
Mr. Smock was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Smock.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Beaty of Scottsboro and Connie Fisher and Judy Fratus, both of Waukegan, Ill.; one son, Clifford Gene Smock of Scottsboro; his mother, Mary Smock of Litchfield, Ill.; two sisters, Joann Davis and Freda Wanger, both of Litchfield; and 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Jessie L. Sweat
GUNTERSVILLE - Jessie Lois Sweat, 84, of 2405 Mulberry St. died Sunday at a Huntsville hospital. The funeral was to be today at 3:30 p.m. at Carr Funeral Home in Guntersville.
Burial was to be in Marshall Memorial Garden.
Survivors include one daughter, Fay Davidson of Guntersville; two sons, Danny Sweat of Guntersville and John P. Sweat of Georgia; four sisters, Tommie Latham of Georgia, Imogene Lambert of Albertville, Edna Rice of Guntersville and Louise Snow of Huntsville; and 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Florence Teeples
HARTSELLE - Florence Teeples, 89, of Hartselle died Sunday at her home. The funeral will be Tuesday at noon at Spry Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. John Elliott officiating.
Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Teeples was a native of Lincoln County but had spent most her life in Madison County. She was a member of College Park Church of God.
Survivors include one son, Donnie G. Teeples of Hartselle; two daughters, Margie O. Widener of Huntsville and Margaret Edgemon of Laceys Spring; one sister, Josie Smith of Athens; and eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation is today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Edith Wharton, 70, of Huntsville died Saturday at a local hospital. Valhalla Funeral home will announce funeral arrangements.
