Myrtie Batchelor
HALEYVILLE - Mrs. Myrtie Batchelor, 88, died Thursday at a Decatur hospital. The funeral will be today at 11 a.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home with Bro. Terry Bentley officiating.
Burial will be in Winston Memorial Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin Batchelor, and her daughter, Jeanette Batchelor Martin.
Mrs. Batchelor was a native of Haleyville and a member of the Haleyville First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Horace Batchelor of Marietta, Ga., Tommy Batchelor of Rockwood, Tenn. and Jack Batchelor of Huntsville; one brother, Guy Johnson of Tuscaloosa; one sister, Glywnell Baker of Bangor, Maine; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Julia C. Collins
ATHENS - Mrs. Julia Catherine Collins, 90, of 611 West Market St. died Thursday at a Athens nursing home. The funeral will be today at 11 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Bobby Turner and Brad Collins officiating.
Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery.
Mrs. Collins was a member of the Market Street Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William James Collins, and a son, J.W. Collins.
Survivors include one son, J.T. Collins of Athens; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Loyd H. Franklin
Loyd Hatchett Franklin, 84, of Huntsville died Thursday. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. Guy Patterson officiating.
Burial will be in Madison Cross Roads Cemetery.
Mr. Franklin, a native of Madison County, was a retired bookkeeper and a member of Madison Cross Roads Presbyterian Church where he was a elder and song leader. He was also an American Red Cross volunteer at Huntsville Hospital for 17 years.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Roller of Huntsville; one grandson, Thomas F. Coats of Weston, Fla.; and one great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Annie M. Gates
TONEY - Annie Mae Gates, 85, died Friday at her residence. The funeral will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Taylor-Ardmore Funeral Home with Bro. Chester Jones officiating.
Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery.
Mrs. Gates was a member of the Community Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie R. Gates, and a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Collins.
Survivors include two sons, Bobby Gates of Linares, Mexico and Jessie Gates of Ardmore; two brothers, Silas Eckstein of Decatur and Fred Eckstein of Bethel; one sister, Leola Young of Toney; and 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Irene Klutts
Irene Klutts, 80, of Huntsville died Friday at a local hospital. Laughlin Service Funeral Home will announce arrangements.
Mrs. Klutts was formerly of Jonesboro, Ark. and a longtime member of Memorial Southern Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Lesley ONeal of Huntsville; three daughters, Lois Carson of Atlanta, Joyce Klutts and Pat McCay, both of Huntsville; and six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Jeanette B. Loomis
Mrs. Jeanette Bailey Loomis, 76, of Huntsville died Friday at a local hospital. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Laughlin Service Funeral Home.
Mrs. Loomis was a registered nurse who graduated from Danbury (Conn.) Hospital. She served as a nurse in India and China during World War II and then in Huntsville and San Juan, Texas. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, J. Mort Loomis, Jr.; two daughters, Joan Bell and Karen Crawford, both of Huntsville; three sons, Jay Loomis of Huntsville, Tom Loomis of Austin, Texas, and Rick Loomis of Nashville; one brother, Francis DiNapoli of Danbury; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer vigil at 6 p.m.
Irene Martin
DECATUR - Mrs. Irene Martin, 73, died Friday at a Decatur hospital. A graveside service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Crestwood Cemetery in Gadsden with Rev. Phillip Ellen officiating and Crestwood Funeral home in charge.
Mrs. Martin was a member of Decatur Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Robert L. Martin; two daughters, Beverly Burfield of Trinity and Belinda Palmer of Decatur; one stepson, Bobby Martin of Atlanta; two brothers, Charles Thomas and Marvin Thomas, both of Gadsden; one sister, Evelyn Roberts of Gadsden; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ruth Olive
LEXINGTON, Texas - Ruth Olive, 96, died Dec. 12. The funeral was Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Lexington.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Palmer Cottrell of Huntsville; one son, Bill Olive of Lexington; one brother, James Maggard of Sour Lake; two sisters, Clara Maggard of Houston and Leila Knox of Bellflower, Calif.; and five grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and several nieces.
Jessie Lee Richardson
ROGERSVILLE - Jessie Lee Richardson, 90, died Thursday at his residence. The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home in Athens with Terry Herston and Jimmy Cox officiating.
Burial will be in Romine Cemetery.
Mr. Richardson was a retired farmer.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Lou Springer, Robbie Kelley and Bonnie Lee Birdwell, all of Rogersville; two sons, O.E. ''Mutt Richardson and Doyce Gene Richardson, both of Rogersville; and 22 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
William G. Yack III
William George Yack III, 48, of Huntsville died Tuesday in Arlington, Texas. The funeral will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home.
Mr. Yack was a native of Washington, D.C., and had lived in Madison County seven years. He was a member of Solar Masonic Lodge and Cahaba Shrine Temple.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Yack of Huntsville; three sons, William George Yack IV, James Yack and Thomas Yack, all of Huntsville; three sisters, Alida Crowley of Hancock, N.Y., Alana Renz of Sebastian, Fla., and Cheryl Keelev of Palm Bay, Fla.
Visitation is today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
