Helen M. Austin
Helen Mae (Smith) Austin, 77, of Huntsville died Sunday at a local hospital. Laughlin Service Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Mrs. Austin was born in Jasper, Mo. She retired from the University of Alabama at Huntsville and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Smith.
Survivors include her husband, Waldo E. Austin, Sr. of Huntsville; one daughter, JoAnn Smith Thomas of Florence; one son, T.C. Smith of Carrollton, Texas; three stepsons, Bill Austin of New Market and Waldo Austin Jr. and Chris Austin, both of Mobile; three stepdaughters, Marquerite Norman of Warwick, R.I., Zoe Kuschel of Houston and Charlotte Ball of Madison; one brother, Joe Simmons of Huntsville; and 17 grandchildren, eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association. Audrey R. Bennett Audrey Robinson Bennett, 81, of Huntsville died Saturday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Laughlin Service Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Harold Dowler officiating.
Burial will be in Valhalla Cemetery.
Mrs. Bennett was a member of the Friendship and Hospitality Club since 1964. She was also active in church and the Red Cross, and served as a Girl Scout leader.
Survivors include three daughters, Candy Warden and Jill B. Hall, both of Huntsville, and Denise Martin of Birmingham; one brother, Earl Benton Robinson of Hobe Sound, Fla.; and three grandchildren.
Visitation is today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to First Christian Church or a favorite charity.
Leonard E. Blaylock
FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. - Leonard E. Blaylock, 82, of Quick School Road died Sunday at a Fayetteville nursing home. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Gallant Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Charles Jones officiating.
Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery in Lincoln County.
Mr. Blaylock was a native of Lincoln County and was an U.S. Army veteran. He also was a retired machinist for NASA and a Methodist member.
Survivors include one niece and two nephews.
Visitation is today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Winford G. Brock
ATHENS - Winford Glenn Brock, 77, died Sunday at an Athens hospital. Limestone Chapel Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Tyson L. Brown
RAINSVILLE - Tyson Lee Brown, 13, died Saturday in a Memphis hospital. The funeral is today at 2 p.m. at W.T. Wilson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Jerry Henegar and the Rev. Freddie Waldrop officiating.
Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
Mr. Brown was a student at Plainview High School.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Eunios Brown.
Survivors include his parents, Connie Henegar of Rainsville and Mack Brown of Browntown; two brothers, Johnny Brown and Steven Brown, both of Rainsville; his grandparents, Aleene Newmons of Rainsville, Frank Henegar of Sylvania and Iona Brown of Browntown; and one great-grandmother, Grace Green e of Rainsville.
Velma H. Clift
Velma H. Clift, 94, of Huntsville died Tuesday at a local nursing home. A graveside service was to be held today at 2 p.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Dalton B. Styes officiating.
Mrs. Clift was the oldest member of Holmes Street United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Clift.
Survivors include one niece, Louise Clift of Huntsville.
Louise M. Cobb
Louise M. Cobb, 78, of Huntsville died Monday at a local nursing home. Laughlin Service Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Mrs. Cobb was a native of Huntsville and a lifelong member of First Cumberland Presbytarian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Bill R. Cobb of Huntsville and Al T. Cobb of Nashville; two sisters; two brothers; and three grandchildren, six nieces and five nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Shelby C. Cole
Shelby C. Cole, 78, of Huntsville died Saturday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Laughlin Service Funeral Home chapel.
Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Cole was owner of Shelby Cole Mobile Homes and a member of the First Baptist Church of Huntsville.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Grubbs Cole of Huntsville; one son, Charles "Chuck" Cole of Huntsville; one brother, Ray Cole of Decatur; one sister, Lucille Kelly of Connecticut; two daughters, Joyce Selah of Birmingham and Karen Totten of Huntsville; one stepdaughter, Melba Davis of Huntsville; and two grandchildren.
Helen L. Coleman
TONEY - Helen L. Coleman, 81, died Saturday at her home. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Edward T. Fuell.
Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Coleman was a member of Thalia Lynn Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, Va., and was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Green sboro.
Survivors include her husband, William E. Coleman Sr.; one daughter, Jacqueline Coleman of San Diego; one son, William Coleman Jr. of Toney; one sister, Kloise Daniels of Blacksburg, Va.; and one grandchild.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Nellie J. Dowell
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Nellie Johnson Dowell, 85, died Friday at her home. Laughlin Service Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Eddie Lynn Dowell Finch of Charlotte; one brother, Billy Johnson of Toney; one sister, Ruth Johnson Hamilton of Sweet Water; and two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
James L. Harvey
DAWSON - James L. "J.L." Harvey, 40, died Saturday at his home. The funeral was to be today at 1 p.m. at W.T. Wilson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Billy Alexander officiating.
Burial was to be in Corbinville Cemetery.
Mr. Harvey was a lineman with the electric company and a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Survivors include his fiancee, Anita Owens of Boaz; one son, Michael Harvey of Fort Payne; his parents, Bud Harvey of Fort Payne and Sarah Trautman of Dawson; and one brother, Thomas "T.E." Harvey of Fort Payne.
Viola I. Kelley
ELKMONT - Viola Ivalee Kelley, 76, died Sunday at a Huntsville hospital. Limestone Chapel Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Floyd D. Lang
HORTON - Floyd Dalton ''Doc Lang, 76, of 661 Big Springs Brow Rd. died Saturday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Today at 2 p.m. at Nixon Chapel Methodist Church.
Burial will be in the Bethany Cemetery with Adams Funeral Home of Albertville directing.
Survivors include his wife, Iva Lang; two sons, Allen D. Lang and Steve Lang, both of Horton; five sisters, Flossie Gibbs of Walnut Grove, Audrey Wallace of Snead; Pluma Johnson of McClarty, Vivian Stanley of Russellville and Eunice Bowen of Georgia; a brother, Earbie Lang of Ca.; and seven grandchildren.
William A. Parton
RYLAND - William Arlie Parton, 87, died Saturday at a rehabilitation center. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Shelby Gurley and the Rev. James George officiating.
Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery.
Mr. Parton was a native of Jackson County and a long time resident of Madison. He was a retired heavy equipment operator from Ashburn & Gray and a member of Wears Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Parton of Ryland; one daughter, Kathryn Atchley of Huntsville; one brother, Grady Parton of Bessemer; and two grandchildren, Becky McBride and Keith Atchley, both of Huntsville; and two great-grandchildren, Matthew McBride and Mick Atchley.
Visitation will be today from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Iris C. Roberts
ALBERTVILLE - Mrs. Iris C. Roberts, 84, of Albertville died Saturday at a Crossville health care center. The funeral will be Tuesday at noon at the New Harmony Baptist Church with the Rev. Glen Stewart officiating.
Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Castleberry of Rossville, Ga., and Bobbie Goza of Fort Payne; two sisters, Roxie Hall of Albertville and Verba Williams of Boaz; five brothers, Robie Evers of New Orleans, Doyle Evers of Hayward, Calif., Rex Evers of Arab, and C.M. ''John Evers and Jay Evers, both of Albertville; and five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Newton Sims GRANT - Newton Sims, 60, died Saturday at his home. Grant Memorial Chapel Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Mr. Sims was owner of Triple-K Restaurant in Grant.
Roy H. Smith
BOAZ - Roy Hill Smith, 89, of Boaz died Saturday at a Gadsden hospital. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Albertville Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy Parris of Albertville; four sons, James Smith and Horace Smith, both of Boaz, Harold Smith of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio,and Kenneth ''Butch Smith of Jackson; and 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
David Lindsey Wiley
TOWN CREEK - David Lindsey Wiley, 74, of Town Creek died Saturday at his residence. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home in Decatur with the Rev. Bruce Lancaster, the Rev. George Sawyer and the Rev. Sandra Locke-Godbey officiating.
Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery.
Mr. Wiley was a Navy veteran of World War II, a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and owned and operated Wiley Outdoor Sports.
Survivors include his wife, Mecey Wiley; one daughter, Lisa Mize of Columbus, Ga.; one son, David L. Wiley Jr. of Decatur; one sister, Katherine Ann Wiley of San Francisco; two brothers, Frank A. Wiley of Decatur and Dr. Thomas M. Wiley of Fort Myers, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
