Oliver Clark
ARDMORE, Ala. - Oliver "Lloyd" Clark, 47, died Tuesday at an Athens hospital. The funeral will be Friday at 12:30 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with Chester Jones and the Rev. Mike Clark officiating.
Burial will be in Charity Cemetery.
Mr. Clark was a native of Madison County and worked at Martin Industries.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Clark of Ardmore, Ala.; one son, Rodney Clark of Ardmore, Ala.; one stepdaughter, Kristen Pylant of Ardmore, Ala.; three sisters, Peggy Faulk of Ardmore, Ala., Jane Kelley of Chrestview, Fla., and Sue Hargrove of Toney; and three brothers, Daniel Clark and Hueston Clark, both of Toney, and William "Tiny" Clark of Mayesville.
Visitation will be today from 3:30 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Maymie Forrester
GUNTERSVILLE - Maymie Forrester, 83, died Wednesday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Carr Funeral Home in Guntersville.
Burial will be in New Friendship Cemetery.

Joseph G. Griffith
TULLAHOMA, Tenn. - Joseph Gordon Griffith, 90, died Wednesday in Tullahoma. The funeral will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Tullahoma Funeral Home with the Rev. John Kirk officiating.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Griffith was a retired civil engineer.
Survivors include one sister, Evelyn Brown of Nis Kayuma, N.Y.; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Susan S. Grosser
Susan Strong Grosser, 86, of Huntsville died Tuesday at her home. The graveside service will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery with Dr. William H. Bostick Jr. officiating.
Laughlin Service Funeral Home is in charge of burial.
Mrs. Grosser was a lifelong resident of Madison County and a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Qui Vive Club. She graduated from Florence State Teachers College and taught at Joe Bradley and East Clinton elementary schools. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Goldsmith Grosser.
Survivors include three nieces, Joanna Van Gohren of Montgomery, Jane Johnston of Chicago and Sally Johnston of Switzerland.
Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church or Hospice Family Care.

Barbara C. Hamilton
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Barbara Craig Hamilton, 51, died Wednesday in Jacksonville. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Arlington Park Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
Burial will be in Arlington Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Hamilton of Jacksonville; one daughter, Kim Hamilton of Jacksonville; two sisters, Vicki Coffey of Gurley and Pam Maddox of Hazel Green ; and two brothers, Terry Craig of Madison and Tim Craig of Huntsville.

Nannie M. Hanners
GERALDINE - Nannie M. Hanners, 84, died Wednesday. The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church with the Revs A.D. Stephens and Wes Lowrey officiating.
Burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens with Harris Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Robinson of Geraldine; three sons, Max Hanners and Joe Hanners, both of Geraldine, and Roger Hanners of Guntersville; one sister, Laura Turner of Anniston; one brother, Gaines Henderson of Boaz; and nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Spencer U. Hardin
DECATUR - Spencer Ussery Hardin, 67, died Tuesday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Revs. Martha Hardin and Estus Hardin officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Hardin retired as an ironworker for Daniel Construction Co. after 27 years.
Survivors include his wife, Vera Terry Hardin of Decatur; two sons, Rick Hardin of Seattle and Billy Joe Hardin of Decatur; two daughters, Judy Hardin Welch of Moulton and Linda Ratliff of Decatur; one brother, Edward Hardin of Somerville; four sisters, Edith Troncon of Somerville, Retha Bowling of Hartselle and Zella Price and Clarie Powell, both of Decatur; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

William D. Hayle Sr.
William David Hayle Sr., 72, of Huntsville died Wednesday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel.
Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens.
Mr. Hayle was a lifelong resident of Madison County.
Survivors include two sons, William David Hayle Jr. and Joseph Gregory Hayle, both of Huntsville; two sisters, Doris Cothren of Paint Rock and Virginia Batey of Huntsville; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

James O. Hendricks
ALBERTVILLE - James Owean Hendricks, 79, died Tuesday at a Marshall County hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove Church with the Rev. Gary Ford and Bro. Gene Lambert officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery with Albertville Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Hendricks was preceded in death by his wife, Verna Wilkerson Hendricks.
Survivors include one son, Jimmy Hendricks of Albertville; two brothers, Joe Beryl Hendricks of Albertville and Thomas Hendricks of Arab; and two sisters, Ruth Hill of Huntsville and Willene Dickerson of Albertville.

Donald L. Horvath
MADISON - Donald Lewis Horvath, 67, died Monday at a local hospital. The funeral will be today at 8 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Alan Weatherly officiating.
Burial will be in a cemetery in Atlanta.
Mr. Horvath was a native of Ohio, a 1956 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and a member of the Huntsville Chapter of Navy Alumni. He lived in Huntsville 15 years, retired as a general engineer with MICOM and was a Methodist and a member of the Eagle Club.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Horvath of Madison; two sons, William "Bill" Horvath of Huntsville and D. Malcom Horvath of Atlanta; and two brothers, James Horvath and Gerald Horvath, both of Ohio.
Visitation will be today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., or to American Heart Association.

Virgie G. Howard
BOAZ - Virgie Gilliland Howard, 93, of Boaz died Tuesday at a local nursing home. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Carr Funeral Home in Boaz.
Burial was to be in Old Clear Creek Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter-in-law Ruth Howard of Boaz; and one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

L.G. Kirkland
GRANT - L.G. Kirkland, 72, of 6436 Simpson Point Road died Tuesday at a Tuscaloosa hospital. The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Grant Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Free Home Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Glenna Franks of Grant; five sons, Larry Kirkland, Dwight Kirkland, Keith Kirkland and Jason Kirkland, all of Grant, and Jerry Kirkland of Scottsboro; one sister, Carolyn Byrd of Grant; and 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation begins today at 5 p.m.

William E. Lackey
BOAZ - William Earl ''Bill Lackey, 70, of 204 Henderson Road died Tuesday at his home. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Carr Funeral Home in Boaz.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Survivors include five sons, Tony Lackey, Timothy E. Lackey, William J. Lackey and Forest L. Lackey, all of Boaz, and Jeffrey J. Lackey of Florida; one sister, Gloria Green of Georgia; one brother, Dan Lackey of Boaz; and nine grandchildren.

William Lawhorn Jr.
LANGSTON - William T. ''Bill Lawhorn Jr., 68, died Wednesday at a Scottsboro hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at the Langston United Methodist Church with the Revs. Emily Penfield and Eric Brown officiating.
Burial was to be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Scottsboro.
Mr. Lawhorn was a retired civil engineer and bicentennial volunteer for the Tennessee Valley Authority, a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of the Langston United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lois Lawhorn; one daughter, Phyllis Thornton of Athens; four sons, Jim Holloway of Ooltewah, Tenn., and Douglas Lawhorn, Eddie Lawhorn and Joey Lawhorn, all of Rainsville; one sister, Chloe Moore of Sylvania; and several grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to the Langston United Methodist Church Building Fund.

Frank H. Locker
FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. - Frank H. Locker, 79, of 344 Eldad Road died Tuesday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Cole and the Rev. Tommy Graham officiating.
Burial will be in Stewarts Cemetery.
Mr. Locker was a native of Lincoln County, Tenn., and a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Jewell Williams Locker of Fayetteville; two sons, Billy Locker of Fayetteville and Rocky Locker of Murfreesboro; one sister, Willodene L. Hopkins of Huntsville; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be today at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Miles O. Martin Sr.
ELKMONT - Miles Olin Martin Sr., 93, of 17273 Pettusville Road died Wednesday at his home. The funeral will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at McConnell Funeral home with the Rev. Wayne Blankenship officiating.
Burial will be in Pettusville Cemetery.
Mr. Martin was a native of Clay County, a resident of Limestone County for 57 years, retired from the Limestone County school system where he was employed in the bus garage, was a member of Pettusville Methodist Church, was a disabled veteran and a U.S. Air Force veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Martin.
Survivors include one son, Miles O. Martin Jr. of Elkmont; two sisters, Ida Lee Lyland Francis Harwell, both of Decatur; and three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Carrie Moore
TRIANA - Carrie "Susie" Moore, 72, of 115C 4th St. died Friday in Triana. The funeral will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Mount Zion P.B. Church with the Rev. Mylon Burwell officiating.
Burial will be in Royal Cemetery in Madison with Royal Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include one daughter, Bertha Mae Fletcher of Madison; two sons, Deacon Willie Fletcher of Madison and Deacon Charlie Fletcher Jr. of Louisville, Ky.; one sister, Mae Lizzie Jordan of St. Louis, Mo.; and 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Daniel NeSmith
GUNTERSVILLE - Daniel NeSmith, 78, of 1315 Coplin Ave. died Saturday at his home. The funeral will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Mount Zion P.B. Church with the Rev. Grover Robinson officiating.
Burial will be in Warrenton Cemetery in Guntersville with Royal Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. NeSmith was a Vietnam War veteran and a member of Mount Zion P.B. Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Evette NeSmith and Nina NeSmith, both of Nashville; one son, Darrell Childress of Huntsville; his father and stepmother, David and Earline NeSmith of Guntersville; three sisters, Dessa Brown of Hazel Green, Joyce Talley of Flint, Mich., and Gwen Tucker of Stone Mountain, Ga.; and five grandchildren.
His body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

Bertha F. Noble
ARAB - Bertha Frances Noble, 79, of Arab died Tuesday at a local hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at New Brashiers Chapel Methodist Church.
Burial was to be in the adjoining cemetery with Gober Funeral Home of Arab in charge.
Survivors include three daughters, Olene Hill and Cathy Hill, both of Guntersville, and Doris Nelson of Ashville; one son, Melvin Noble of Florida; one brother, Elmer Pierce of Guntersville; and eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Margie E. Pence
WOODVILLE - Margie Ellen Pence, 61, of 5851 Butler Mill Road died Wednesday at her home. The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Cedar Point Baptist Church with the Rev. Verlon Stiefel officiating.
Burial will be in Kennamer Cemetery with New Hope Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Pence was a member of Cedar Point Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Larry Pence of Woodville; one daughter, Shirley Pence of Indiana; five brothers, Dave Bates of Florida, Don Bates, Glen "Fuzz" Bates and Leland Bates, all of New Hope, and Ollie Bates of Grant; one sister, Sadie Clark of New Hope; and one grandchild.
Visitation will be today from 4 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Thomas R. Scales
Thomas Richard Scales, 84, of Huntsville died Wednesday at a local hospital. Laughlin Service Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Mr. Scales was a member of SAE fraternity and retired from Redstone Arsenal. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Scales of Huntsville; two sons, Dwight M. Cleveland of Montgomery and John R. Scales of Huntsville; and six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to The Salvation Army.

Lillian M. Spray
HAZEL GREEN - Lillian Mathias Spray, 76, died Tuesday at a local hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Taylor-Ardmore Funeral Home chapel.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Michael R. Taylor of Hazel Green ; three grandchildren, Crystal Taylor, Jamie Hartman and Ashley Taylor, all of Hazel Green ; and two great-grandchildren.

Cora G. Ward
Cora G. Ward, 86, of Huntsville died Wednesday. The funeral will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Larry Bishop officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Ward was a lifelong resident of Madison County and a member of Five Points Baptist Church for more than 30 years.
Survivors include her husband, Charles T. Ward of Huntsville; one daughter, Ruby C. Neeley of Huntsville; two sons, James Clay of Huntsville and Billy Joe Clay of Sorrento, Fla.; one sister, Beulah Russell of New Hope; three brothers, Herbert Gibbs of Toney, Alferd Gibbs of Sylacauga and J.D. Gibbs of Huntsville; and six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
