Ellie J. Ambrose
REFORM - Ellie Jackie Ambrose, 72, died Thursday at a Birmingham Medical Center. The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Reform United Methodist Church with the Rev. Alan Head officiating and the Rev. Chester Free assisting.
Burial will be in Reform Cemetery with Stabler-Robbins Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Ambrose was a member of Reform United Methodist Church. She was also a surgical nurse for over 39 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Ambrose.
Survivors include three sons, Bill Ambrose and Rodney Ambrose, both of Huntsville, and Barry Ambrose of Reform; two daughters, Gail Strickland of Huntsville and Sharon Patterson of Aberdeen, Miss.; three sisters, Oda Mae Keese of Zephryrhills, Fla., Francis Tucker of Tuscaloosa and Shelby Johnston of Marion; and 22 grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
The body will be at the church an hour before the funeral.
Gertrude P. Blackwell
Gertrude Prince Blackwell, 80, of Huntsville died Friday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Laughlin Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Dalton Styes officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Alvin Blackwell of Huntsville; one son, Bob Blackwell of Huntsville; two grandchildren and one step-grandchild.
Visitation is today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Joseph W. Coffman
Joseph Weldon Coffman, 80, of Huntsville died Thursday at a local hospital. Spry Funeral Home will handle arrangements.
Mr. Coffman was a native of Farmersville, Texas, and a resident of Madison County for the past 43 years. He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corps and retired from the U.S. Army Missile Command in 1981. He was also a member of Alabama and National Society of Professional Engineers and Institute of Industrial Engineers.
Survivors include his wife, Lilly Belle Coffman of Huntsville; and several cousins.
Memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association or Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas.
George A. Gant
SCOTTSBORO - George A. "Red Gant, 65, of Scottsboro, died Thursday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Scottsboro Funeral Home with the Revs. R.L. Tyler and Otis Gant officiating.
Burial will be in Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Gant was a 25-year member of the Moose Lodge where he served as secretary-treasurer.
Survivors include three daughters, Candy Mason of Stevenson, Sharon Griffith of Woodville and Semone Dragan of Fort Pierce, Fla.; two sisters, Bernice OBrien of Knoxville, Tenn., and Barbara Ann Gant of Dutton; one brother, Marvin Gant of Dutton; four grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
James C. Hodge
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - James Charles Hodge, 54, died Sunday at a Murfreesboro hospital. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. Lowranzy Overton, Jr. officiating.
Burial will be in Concord Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Hodge of Murfreesboro; one son, Hiram Hodge of Rockvale, Tenn.; two stepdaughters, Debbie Hillis of Murfreesboro and Sara Crocker of Huntsville; two stepsons, James Lee Sterling of Rosedale, Miss., and Frank McCrory of Florida; one sister, Wilma Nix of Piqua, Ohio; one grandchild and nine step-grandchildren.
Ronald H. Malone Sr.
ATHENS - Ronald H. Malone Sr., 75, of Bain Road died Friday at his home. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Taylor-Ardmore Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Murray officiating. Burial will be in Pettusville Cemetery in Elkmont.
Mr. Malone was a member of Jennings Chapel Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Malone of Athens; four sons, Ronald "Ronnie" Malone Jr., Mark Edward Malone and Randy Douglas Malone, all of Athens, and Tony Dean Malone of Huntsville; one daughter, Lucy Jones of Ardmore; three sisters, Mildred Swanner of Athens, Ollieween Eckstein of Ardmore and Jeanette Mitchell of Cornersville, Tenn.; and 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ryan D. Malone
LACEYS SPRING - Infant Ryan Dewayne Malone died Wednesday at a local hospital. A graveside service will be today at 1 p.m. at Union Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Smith C. Ledbetter officiating.
Spry Funeral Home will be in charge of burial.
Survivors include his parents, Dennis and Beth Malone of Laceys Spring; two brothers, Dennis D. Malone Jr., and Matthew Conkle Malone, both of Laceys Spring; maternal grandmother, Eleanor Cason of Gasden; paternal grandmother, Bobbie Merrell of Huntsville; and four great-grandparents, Avery and Virginia Cason of Gadsden and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stiles of Laceys Spring.
Pamela Mitchell
Pamela "Pam" Mitchell, 52, of Huntsville died Thursday at a local hospital. The funeral will be today at 11 a.m. at Laughlin Service Funeral Home with Dr. Robert Weston and Dr. John David Hall officiating.
Burial will be in Goosepond Cemetery in Scottsboro.
Ms. Mitchell was a native of Scottsboro and a 1965 Scottsboro High School graduate. She attended Auburn and graduated from Athens State. She was coordinator of the Worthless Check Unit in Huntsville and had worked in the Madison County District Attorneys office 17 years. She was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her mother, Marie H. Mitchell of Huntsville; one sister, Saundra M. Harper of Scottsboro; one nephew, Timothy Harper of Nashville; one niece, Holly H. Alberti of Scottsboro; and three great-nephews and great-nieces and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Sterling E. Russell
ARDMORE - Sterling Eugene Russell, 74, of Elkwood Section Road died Wednesday at his home. The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Taylor-Ardmore Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Ralph Riddles officiating.
Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery.
Mr. Russell was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Survivors include one brother, Freddie Russell of Hammond, Ind.; and two sisters, Bertie Winders of Chicago and Carlene McGaha of Hammond.
Helen L. Schrimsher
Helen Louise Schrimsher, 77, of Huntsville died Friday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Silkwood officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Schrimsher was a native of Madison County.
Survivors include one daughter, Fay Pope of Huntsville; two brothers, William L. "Buddy" King of Toney and Junior King of Huntsville; one sister, Minnie Ramson of Huntsville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m.
Betty A. Spindle
Betty Ann Spindle, 73, of Huntsville died Thursday at a local hospital. Twickenham Funeral Home will announce arrangements.
Jeffery W. Stephens
NORCROSS, Ga. - Jeffery "Jeff" W. Stephens, 33, died Friday in Birmingham. The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Survivors include his parents, Teddy and Elsie Stephens of Huntsville; two brothers, Jason Stephens and David Stephens, both of Huntsville; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Bunt of Ragland; and several aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Nelson Tucker
GRANT - Nelson Tucker, 51, of 460 Fifth St., died Wednesday at a local hospital. The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Grant.
Burial will be in Free Home Cemetery with Grant Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Tucker was a charter member of the Grant Civitan Club.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca C. Tucker; one sister, Betty Burroughs of Scottsboro; and three brothers, Dr. Olon C. Tucker and Billy R. Tucker, both of Grant, and Travis L. Tucker of Davisburg, Mich.
Eva Watson
GRANT - Eva Watson, 85, of 608 Campbell Road died Thursday. The funeral will be today at 11 a.m. at Grant Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at Heflin City Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Bobbie Camper of Grant; one son, Jerry Watson of Madison; two sisters, Ruby Lacko of California and Nell Biddle of Birmingham; and 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Floyd W. Williams
Floyd Wess Williams, 69, of Huntsville died Thursday at his home. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:30 at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. Lavanuel Sherrill officiating.
Mr. Williams was a native of Lawrence County and had lived in Huntsville since 1972. He retired from the Sheraton Inn. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his companion, Raymond Scott of Huntsville; one sister, Azzilee Russell of Hanna City, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Don W. Woodall
Don W. Woodall, 51, of Huntsville died today at a local hospital. The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
Mr. Woodall was formerly employed with the City Board of Education and also with the Tennessee Valley Authority in Chattanooga.
Survivors include his mother, Otha Mae Woodall of Huntsville; one sister, Linda Woodall of Huntsville; and Chris Woodall of Huntsville.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Thomas E. Woodfin
ATHENS - Thomas Edward Woodfin, 85, of 600 Ninth Ave., died Thursday at a local hospital. A graveside service will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Cemetery with Roger Jackson officiating and McConnell Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Woodfin was a member of Northside Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Cannon Woodfin.
Survivors include two sons, James Edward Woodfin of Banks, Ark., and Kenneth Eugene Woodfin of Las Vegas; three sisters, Josephine Hardiman of Sandusky, Ohio, Lillie Mae Muse of Pensacola and Helen Sammet of Athens; one brother, Madison Erskine Woodfin of Athens; nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
