Velma S. Bishop
WOODVILLE - Velma Sparks Bishop, 79, died Tuesday. The funeral was to be today at 1 p.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Pace and the Rev. Mark Askew officiating.
Burial was to be in Askew Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Evans of Woodville; one son, Brickie Bishop of Scottsboro; two sisters, Daisy Rickey and Mae Willow Prince, both of Scottsboro; one brother, Joe Henry Sparks of Rossville, Ga.; one grandson; and one great-grandson.
Willis Bryant
Willis Bryant, 90, of Green Street in Huntsville died Tuesday at a local nursing home. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Ed Edger officiating.
Gallant Funeral Home of Hazel Green is in charge of burial.
Mr. Bryant was a native of Madison County, a retired bookkeeper and was a member of the National Guard and West Huntsville Church of Christ.
Survivors include one sister, Margaret "Maggie" Smith of Chesapeake, Va.
Evelyn B. Fuller
BOAZ - Evelyn Buanita Fuller, 68, of 1953 McVille Road died Tuesday at her home. The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Beulah Baptist Church.
Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Albertville Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include her husband, O.F. Fuller; one daughter, Judi Townsend of Birmingham; two sons, Wayne Fuller of Georgia and Dale Fuller of Boaz; one brother, Edward Owens of Georgia; and seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mary C. Hagood
ARAB - Mary C. Hagood, 91, of Arab died Tuesday at a Guntersville nursing home. The graveside service will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Huntsville Memory Gardens.
Laughlin Service Funeral Home is in charge of burial.
Mrs. Hagood was formerly of Huntsville and a member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church here.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews, including Wendell Haygood of Arab.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Victor V. Hite
Victor Varley Hite, 95, of Huntsville died Monday at a local nursing home. The funeral will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Laughlin Service Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. John Dees officiating.
Mr. Hite was formerly of Wichita Falls, Texas, and a native of Macomb, Texas, but he was raised in Wellington, Texas. He worked at C.D. Shamburger Lumber Co. in Witchita Falls from 1934 to retirement in 1983. He moved to Huntsville in 1993 and was a member of Willowbrook Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Bertha F. Hite of Huntsville; one daughter, Lometa Stagg of Huntsville; one son, Dr. J. Lee Hite of Shreveport, La.; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Willowbrook Baptist Church building fund.
Ruby Holloway
SCOTTSBORO - Ruby Holloway, 83, died Tuesday at her home. The funeral was to be today at 3 p.m. at Skyline Funeral Home.
Burial was to be in Skyline Cemetery.
Mrs. Holloway was a Baptist.
Survivors include two daughters, Ruby Tracy of Scottsboro and Edith Hines of Columbia, Tenn.; two sons, Alfred Marcum of Skyline and Michael Holloway of Moulton; two stepsons, Coy Holloway of Illinois and Roy Holloway of Colorado; four sisters, Jessie Pruitt of Heflin, Eunice Ashley of Scottsboro and Annie Medley and Marylee Owens, both of Winchester, Tenn.; and 26 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Virginia Jeffery
SCOTTSBORO - Virginia Jeffery, 70, died Wednesday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Cooper and the Rev. Eugene McDewell officiating.
Burial will be in Goosepond Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Green and Janice Patterson, both of Scottsboro; one son, Greg Jeffery of Scottsboro; three sisters, Sara Oaks of Rossville, Ga., and Christine Moore and Nancy Shavers, both of Chattanooga; two brothers, Sanford Gilliam of Huntsville and Ernest Gilliam of Rossville; and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation was to be today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
John Johnson III
DETROIT - John "Lil Bro" Johnson III, 54, died Saturday in Detroit. The funeral will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Nelms Memorial Funeral Home chapel with Elder Billy Jones officiating.
Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Johnson was formerly of Huntsville.
Survivors include four sisters, Bettye Martin Brown and Nelsia Johnson Jones, both of Huntsville, Gloria Gurley of Detroit and Joan F. Adams of Seaside, Calif.; two brothers, Sammie Johnson and Ronnie "Dink" Lanier, both of Huntsville; and one uncle.
Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Margaret K. Joyner
DULUTH, Ga. - Margaret K. Joyner, 87, died Tuesday. A graveside service will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Stevenson City Cemetery with the Rev. Amy Vaughn officiating.
Ms. Joyner was retired from Emory University where she worked in the treasurers office. She was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathy Pyrson of Duluth; two sons, Edwin Joyner of Coppell, Texas, and Charles Joyner of Duluth; three sisters, Mary Ann McMurray of Plantation, Fla., Louise Wood of Pleasant, S.C., and Sadie Burgess of Marietta, Ga.; and eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society.
George E. McCoy
George E. McCoy, 61, of Yorkshire Circle in Huntsville died Tuesday at a local hospital. The funeral was today at noon at Gallant Funeral Home chapel in Hazel Green .
Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery in Lincoln, Tenn.
Mr. McCoy retired from the Army, was a Baptist and a member of VFW.
Survivors include two sons, Craig McCoy of Huntsville and Dwayne McCoy of Falkville; two stepsons, John Dixon of Kingston Springs, Tenn., and Jeff Dixon of Dayton, Ohio; three sisters, Margaret Wright of Helena, Mont., Barbara Ubben of Phoenix and Kay McCoy of Tuscon, Ariz.; five brothers, Hugh McCoy of Brookings, Ore., Carl McCoy of Phoenix, William McCoy of Huntsville and Samuel McCoy and Paul McCoy, both of Seattle; and six grandchildren.
Jimmy Medley
FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. - Jimmy Medley, 52, of 69 Round Square Road died Tuesday at a Fayetteville hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. James Barnes officiating.
Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery.
Mr. Medley was a native of Lincoln County, an Army veteran, a retired welder for Inner City Products in Lewisburg, Tenn., and a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Diane Lindsey Medley of Fayetteville; three sons, Michael Allen Medley, Christopher Dale Medley and Jimmy Shawn Medley, all of Fayetteville; five brothers, Willard Medley of Flintville, Tenn., Dwight Medley, Michael Medley and Kelvin Medley, all of Kelso, Tenn., and Darel Medley of Huntsville; one sister, Judy Coats of Fayetteville; and two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Lester L. Pettie
MADISON - Lester Leo Pettie, 71, died Monday at a Northport hospital. The funeral will be
Saturday at 11 a.m. at Madison Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Marable officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Faye Pettie of Madison; three daughters, Bonita Arlene Ogle and Evelyn Darlene Jolly, both of Madison, and Peachy Burkett of Pearland, Texas; three sisters, Wilene Jones and Louise Dunlap, both of Huntsville, and Marie Swafford of Gurley; two brothers, Preston Pettie of Huntsville and Austin Pettie of Fayetteville; and nine grandchildren and seven grandchildren.
George W. Sanders
TANNER - George Wilson Sanders, 74, of Nuclear Plant Road died Wednesday at an Athens hospital. The funeral will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Taylor-Ardmore Funeral Home chapel in Ardmore, Ala., with the Rev. Mike Johnson officiating.
Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore, Ala.
Survivors include his wife, Bessie Lee Sanders of Tanner; three sisters, Nancy Cowan, Minnie Williams and Dot Franklin, all of Taft, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

HAZEL GREEN - John Martin Word, 51, died Monday at his home. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home with Dr. John David Hall officiating.
Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Scottsboro.
Survivors include his mother, Mildred Petty Word of Guntersville; and several nieces and nephews.
