Vera E. Black
ATHENS - Vera Estelle Black, 85, of Athens, died Saturday at a local nursing home. A graveside service will be today at 3:30 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with Bobby Turner officiating and Spry Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Black was a member of Hays Mill Church of Christ and had been in sales at Big K and Wal-Mart stores.
Survivors include two daughters, Louise Haney of Elkmont and Annette Bridges of Athens; one son, Billy W. Black of Athens; one brother, M.C. Maynard of Huntsville; and nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy C. Blair
Dorothy Campbell Blair, 88, of Huntsville died Friday at her residence. A graveside service will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery with Dr. Laurence Dill and Mark Brown officiating and Laughlin Service Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Blair was a registered and head nurse for 26 years at Huntsville Hospital. She also did volunteer work at Huntsville Hospital and the Senior Center of Huntsville and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two son, Howard W. Blair Jr. of Richmond, Va. and F. Campbell Blair of Huntsville; one brother, Charles Campbell of Canton, Miss.; and one sister, Ann Holman of Jackson, Miss.
Jewell W. Brady Jr.
MARIETTA, Ga. - Jewell ''Wayne Webster Brady Jr., 58, died Friday at his residence. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel in Huntsville.
Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
Mr. Brady was a native of Stevenson, Ala., and had lived in Union Hill, Ala. for 10 years before moving to Marietta.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kyle Dewayne Brady.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Brady; two sons, Tim Bennett of Arab, Ala., and Jeff Bennett of Union Hill; three daughters, Rita Casey of Cullman, Ala., Dianna Browning of Union Hill and Melissa Davis of Albertville, Ala.; his parents, Jewell Webster Brady Sr. and Gwendolyn Sue Brady; one brother, David Brady of Dunedin, Fla.; one sister, Lavinia Hailey of Madison, Ala.; and 19 grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Lee Ann Brooks
ALBERTVILLE - Lee Ann Brooks Moulton, 90, of Albertville died Friday at an Oneonta hospital. The funeral will be today at 3:30 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Albertville.
Burial will be in Concord Cemetery.
Survivors include one sister, Bernice R. Jackson of Georgia.
Joe H. Bryant
MONTEAGLE, Tenn. - Joe Herbert Bryant, 87, died Friday at a local nursing home. A graveside service was Saturday at Corinth Cemetery in Fyffe, Ala., with the Rev. W.B. Doughty officiating.
W.T. Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of burial.
Mr. Bryant was a former resident of Fyffe.
Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Jones of Scottsboro, Ala.; one sister, Ruth Paticchio of Grandbay, Fla.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Lewis H. Burdette
Lewis H. Burdette, 77, of Huntsville died Thursday at his residence. A graveside service was Saturday at Twickenham Memory Gardens with Rev. Dorothy Ann Webster officiating.
Twickenham Funeral Home East was in charge of burial.
Mr. Burdette was scout master for Boy Scout Troops 4 and 306 and Explorer Ship 364. He was a ham radio operator and member of the Quarter Century Wireless Club, a member of the Huntsville Concert Band, a World War II veteran, a lifetime member of the Marine Corps League and a graduate of Auburn University.
Survivors include his wife, Annette N. Burdette; one son, Doug Burdette of Huntsville; two daughters, Patsy Wear of Fort Payne and Pamela Asa of Memphis; one brother, Ernest L. Burdette of Montrose; and one sister, Dorothy Walsh of Birmingham.
Donations may be made to the Boys Scouts of America, to Hospice Family Care or to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 3250 Dunn Drive, Huntsville 35805.
Billy J. Campbell
SKYLINE - Billy Joe Campbell, 64, died Monday at his home. The funeral was Wednesday at the Skyline Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Avans officiating.
Mr. Campbell was a U.S. Army veteran.
Burial was in Skyline Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Campbell; three daughters, Faye McGill, Kay Whitt and Kathy Campbell, all of Skyline; two sons, Billy Ray Campbell and Andy Campbell, both of Scottsboro; one brother, Knox Campbell Jr. of Missouri; and 11 grandchildren.
Billy L. Childress
HENAGAR - Billy Lavon Childress, 32, died Sunday at a Chattanooga hospital. The funeral was Thursday at Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar with Rev. Lee Earl Thompson officiating.
Burial was in Beulah Cemetery in Cartersville.
Survivors include his wife, Stephanie Denise Childress; two daughters, Carla Tyleigh Colburn of Carbon Hill and Krista Haley Patterson of Rossville, Ga.; two sons, Damian Rage Childress and Joshua Cain Childress, both of Fort Payne; his mother, Betty N. Cole of Henagar; his stepfather, Floyd Cole of Henagar; three brothers, Bobby Childress and Alvin Childress, both of Henagar, and Gregg Cole of Fort Payne; and his grandfather, Harvey A. Shaw of Henagar.
Dessie B. Croft
GERALDINE - Dessie B. Croft, 72, died Friday at a Monteagle nursing home. The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at W.T. Wilson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. T.E. Bartlett officiating.
Burial will be in Macedonia Two Cemetery.
Mrs. Croft was a native of DeKalb County and a member of Macedonia Two Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Ramonia Jeanette Camp and Kathy Lynne Malone, both of Crossville, and Jewell Olean Barron of Alabaster; one son, Bobby Lee Croft of Grant; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Beatrice P. Hood
SCOTTSBORO - Beatrice P. Hood, 78, died Saturday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Monday at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Dr. Rick Stevens officiating.
Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery with Scottsboro Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Hood was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett A. Hood.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. Charles E. Hood and Larry D. Hood, both of Scottsboro; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
John M. Johnson
MADISON - John Monroe Johnson, 70, died Friday at a local hospital. A graveside service will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Faith Memorial Park with Rev. Richard Hendrix officiating and Spry Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Johnson was a native of Georgia but had lived in Madison County since 1961. He retired from civil service, was a U.S. Army veteran and member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Johnson; two daughters, Deborah J. OBarr of Fayetteville, Tenn. and Dianne Johnson Hodges of Dothan; one son, Donald A. Johnson of Madison; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Jean Mason
Jean Mason, 70, of Huntsville died Friday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Vallhalla Funeral Home chapel with Pastors Ken Love and Jim Usher officiating.
Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Mason was a member of First Church of God in Huntsville.
Survivors include her husband, Elijah C. ''E.C. Mason; one daughter, Regenia Mason Kerr of LaPorte, Texas; one son, Marcus Denny Mason of Biloxi, Miss.; one sister, Evelyn Hale of Madison; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
David C. Patterson
ATHENS - David Clayton Patterson, 91, of Parker Road died Saturday at his residence. The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Jerry McGivney and James Turner officiating.
Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery.
Mr. Patterson was a member of Poplar Creek Baptist Church, a retired farmer and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mary B. Patterson; one daughter, Patsy Smith of Athens; two sisters, Bonnie Mae Barnett of Nashville and Elva Thornton of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Donations may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.
J.G. Saint
SCOTTSBORO - J.G. ''Jake Saint, 81, died Friday at his home. The funeral will be today at 3:30 p.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home chapel with Johnny Mack Young officiating.
Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Saint was a member of Broad Street Church of Christ and was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Johnston Saint; three sons, Billy Joe Saint, Kenneth Ray Saint and Dale Saint; three brothers, Vance Saint, Bobby Saint and Lige Junior Saint; six sisters, Daisy Gentle, Audrey Gentle, Hazel Chambliss, Faye Pritchett, Jean Wright and Josie Key; five grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
Donations may be made to the Tennessee Valley Christian or to the Youth Fund of Broad Street Church of Christ.
Henry S. Warren
SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. - Henry S. Warren, 69, of 111 Burrum Drive died Friday at his residence. A graveside service will be today at 3 p.m. at Riverview Cemetery with the Revs. Drew Hayes and Issac McDuff officiating.
Higgins Funeral Home is in charge of burial.
Mr. Warren was retired from AT&T and was owner and operator of Warren-Tel Inc. He was a teacher and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Shelbyville.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Warren; one daughter, Marcia Edmondson of Petersburg; one son, Joe Warren of Shelbyville; his mother, Evelyn Sorrells Warren of Shelbyville; and three grandchildren.
George E. Webb
SCOTTSBORO - George Edward Webb, 70, died Monday at a local hospital. The funeral was Wednesday at Center Point Baptist Church with the Revs. Phillip Webb and J.A. Linville officiating.
Burial was in Pinehaven Memorial Gardens in Hollywood with Rudder Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Webb was a member of the Center Point Baptist Church and was retired from Mead Paper Mfg. in Stevenson.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Webb; two sons, Donald Webb of Scottsboro and Billy Frank Webb of Huntsville; nine brothers, Thomas Webb, Odell Webb, Robert Webb, Sherman Webb, William C. Webb Jr. and Lonnie Webb, all of Scottsboro, Albert Webb of Hollywood, Herman Webb of Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., and Joe ''J.C. Webb of Combs, Texas; and five grandchildren.

Letha R. Welch
SCOTTSBORO - Letha Roberts Welch, 91, died Friday at a local nursing home. The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Donna Airheart officiating.
Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Welch was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Welch Sr.
Survivors include one son, Fred Welch Jr. of Scottsboro; three daughters, Ethel Proctor, Frances Knight and Pattie Sue Lackey, all of Scottsboro; two sisters, Mattie Welch and Lizzie Rodgers, both of Scottsboro; one brother, John Lee Roberts of Athens, Ga.; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
