Lawes H. Anyan
HAZEL GREEN - Lawes Herman Anyan, 69, of Ready Section Road died Saturday at a local hospital. The funeral was to be today at 3 p.m. at Briar Fork Primitive Baptist Church with elders Coy Brothers and Leon Ethridge, the Rev. Bobby Bates and the Rev. Wayne Hollingsworth officiating.
Burial was to be in Briar Fork Cemetery with Gallant Funeral Home in Hazel Green in charge.
Mr. Anyan was a native of Madison County, a retired carpenter, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of Briar Fork Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Juel Anyan of Hazel Green ; one daughter, Elaine Filmore of Collinsville; three sons, Larry Anyan of Athens and Danny Anyan and Ricky Anyan, both of Hazel Green ; three brothers, Thomas Anyan and Leamon Anyan, both of Prospect, Tenn., and Levi Anyan of Hazel Green ; and seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one step-great-grandchild.
James C. Caldwell
DALLAS, Texas - Dr. James C. "Jim" Caldwell, 57, died April 30. The memorial service was May 3 at Scoffield Memorial Church in Dallas.
Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home in Dallas was in charge of burial arrangements.
Dr. Caldwell was a graduate of Butler High School in Huntsville, Ala. He co-authored college-level accounting textbooks and was a professor at Texas Tech.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Caldwell of Dallas; three daughters, Stephanie Trest, Susan Painter and Sharon Sanchez, all of Dallas; his mother and stepfather, Mary and Milas Vassar of Huntsville; one brother, the Rev. Robert Vassar of Columbia, Tenn.; and three grandchildren.

Ruby R. Cantrell
FLINTVILLE, Tenn. - Ruby Rutledge Cantrell, 82, of Cantrell Road died Sunday at her home. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Gallant Funeral Home in Fayetteville with the Rev. Gary Williams officiating.
Burial will be in Flintville Cemetery.
Mrs. Cantrell was a native of Lincoln County, Tenn., and a member of the Lincoln Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Bill Rutledge and the Rev. Dewey Cantrell.
Survivors include two sons, James Rutledge of Flintville and Joe Rutledge of Fayetteville; two stepsons, Kenneth Cantrell of Fayetteville and David Cantrell of Huntsville; one daughter, Carol Bell of Fayetteville; one stepdaughter, Carolyn Nichols of Mississippi; three brothers, James Spray of Florida, Wilson Spray of Fayetteville and Robert Spray of Green sboro; four sisters, Elizabeth Rutledge of Flintville; and 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
James E. Coffman
ATHENS - James Edward Coffman, 46, of 21989 Hickory Hill Lane died today at his home. Limestone Chapel Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Buell C. Fanning
Buell Clements Fanning, 88, of Huntsville died Friday at her home. A graveside service was to be held today at 2 p.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery with Rev. Wildon C. Neely officiating.
Laughlin Service Funeral Home is in charge of burial arrangements.
Mrs. Fanning lived in Cullman before moving to Huntsville 66 years ago. She was a member of the First Church of God of Huntsville. She was a homemaker and quilter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Almer L. Fanning.
Survivors include two daughters, Jean Shrier and Peggy Simpson, both of Huntsville; one son, Bobby Fanning of Huntsville; and three grandchildren, Michael Fanning of Huntsville, Bobby Shrier of Gaithersburg, Md., and Teri Fanning Denton of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Peggy Faust
BOAZ - Peggy Faust, 70, of 745 Somerville Road died Thursday at a local hospital. The funeral was to be today at 11 a.m. at Albertville Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Burial was to be in Memory Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Mickey Szczepanik of Boaz; and one stepson, Harry E. Faust Jr. of Kentucky.
Charles D. Hairell
HENAGAR - Charles D. Hairell, 65, died Saturday. The funeral will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at New Home Baptist Church with the Revs. Joe Owens and Larry Haynes officiating.
Burial will be in New Home Cemetery in Henagar with Kerby Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Hairell was preceded in death by one daughter, Gaynell Hairell.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Hairell; two daughters, Juanita Stephens of Chelsea, Ala., and Donna Sue Hightower of Scottsboro; his mother, Bula Irene Windsor of Fort Payne; five sisters, Irene Terrell and Maydeen Lea, both of Henagar, Ruby Mae Hairston of Valley Head, Dorothy Badgett of Fort Payne and Laura Steele of Flat Rock; and six grandchildren.
John H. Helton
NEW HOPE - John Haney Helton, 67, died Friday at a local hospital. A graveside service was to be held today at 2 p.m. at Brown Cemetery with Spry Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Helton was a native of Davidson County, Tenn., but had lived in Madison County for 10 years. He was a retired auto mechanic and a veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include three sons, Mike R. Helton of Otisville, Mich., and Tony Helton and John Helton, both of New Hope; one daughter, Dee Anderton of New Hope; one brother, Samuel Lee Helton Jr. of Pontiac, Mich.; one sister, Bennie Jo Smotherman of Parsons, Tenn.; and 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation was to be today from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Nellie F. Houk
MADISON - Nellie Frances Houk, 58, died Saturday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Bill Holley officiating.
Burial will be in Clay Cemetery in Princeton, Ala.
Mrs. Houk was a native of Jackson County and had lived in Madison County since 1972.
Survivors include her husband, Harold E. Houk of Madison; two daughters, Janet Houk of Toney and Judy Roach of Maysville; two sons, Gary Houk of Madison and Randy Houk of Woodstock, Ga.; two brothers, Benton Sisk and Roger Sisk, both of Huntsville; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Paul E. Johnson
GUNTERSVILLE - Paul Edwin Johnson, 75, of 1949 Venning Circle died Saturday in Guntersville. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Guntersville First United Methodist Church.
Burial will be in Marshall Memorial Gardens with Carr Funeral Home of Guntersville in charge.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Nell Johnson; three daughters, Martha Green of Helena, Sue Renfro of Guntersville and Beth Johnson of Birmingham; and three grandchildren.
Andrew D. Marlow Sr.
ATHENS - Andrew David Marlow Sr., 78, of 1600 West Hobbs St. died Saturday at an Athens hospital. The funeral was today at 10 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Roy Jarrett officiating.
Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery.
Survivors include three sons, Andrew Marlow Jr. of Schererville, Ind., John P. Marlow of Lowell, Ind., and Jim Marlow of Athens; three daughters, Sharon Marlow and Pamela J. Pettit, both of Wheatfield, Ind., and Peggy Ann Marlow of Athens; two sisters, Jennie Marlow of Hammond, Ind., and Betty Marlow of Dyer, Ind.; and 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was today from 8 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Samuel P. Moore
WOODVILLE - Samuel Paul Moore, 50, of 5977 Butler Mill Road died Saturday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at New Hope Funeral Home chapel with Bros. Eli Smith and Levon Stone officiating.
Burial will be in Humpton Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Kay Moore of Woodville; one son, John Paul Moore of Woodville; three daughters, Beverly Moore of Woodville, Melanie Moore of Albertville and Angela Moore of Guntersville; five brothers, Billy Dean Moore of Albertville, Charles Edward Moore and James E. Moore, both of Grant, and William Floyd Moore and Tony Lynn Moore, both of Guntersville; one sister, Mary Dell Moore of Guntersville; and three grandchildren.
Mae W. Nall
Mae Willa Nall, 66, of Huntsville died Sunday at her home. Valhalla Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Survivors include three sons, Curtis Glenn Nall of Meridianville, the Rev. Barry Lee Nall of Robertsonville, N.C., and James Terry Nall of Meridianville; and nine grandchildren.

Jasper Porter
COLLINSVILLE - Jasper Porter, 79, died Saturday at a Fort Payne hospital. The funeral was Sunday at 4 p.m. at Trinity Cemetery with the Revs. Jimmy Cole and Rayburn Cole officiating.
Survivors include one daughter, Wanda Dukes of Rainsville; two sons, Larry Porter of Maryland and Darrell Porter of LaFayette, Ala.; one sister, Effie Mae Bonner of Carrolton, Ga.; and 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Charles D. Pylant
ATHENS - Charles David Pylant, 64, of 601 9th Ave. died Saturday at his home. The funeral was to be today at 3 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Roger Jackson and Steve Ferguson officiating.
Burial will be in ONeal Cemetery.
Mr. Pylant was a member of the North Side Church of Christ and retired from the Limestone County Commission.
Survivors include his wife, Ovailee Pylant of Athens; two sons, Larry Pylant of Elkmont and Stan Pylant of Huntsville; three daughters, Brenda Goode of Athens, Carolyn Scarborough of Huntsville and Tammy Raney of Athens; one brother, Tom Pylant of Athens; three sisters, Nina Turner of Ardmore, Tenn., and Margaret Rolin and Elizabeth Gates, both of Ardmore, Ala.; and eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
Myra Shelley
ELBERTA - Myra Jean Williams Shelley, 64, died Saturday at a Foley hospital. The graveside service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery with Spry Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Shelley was a member of Miflin Baptist Church. She was retired from Redstone Arsenal Army Missle Command. She was preceded in death by one son, Steve Shelley.
Survivors include her husband, Robert G. Shelley Sr.; three daughters, Carol Cooper of Bainbridge, Ohio, and Melody Bridges and Teresa Shelley, both of Huntsville; one son, Gerald Shelley of Huntsville; two sisters, Pauline David and Greathel Kines, both of Cedartown, Ga.; and 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. L.A. Sherrill
Jessie Lee Sherrill, 97, of Huntsville died Sunday in Centre. Laughlin Service Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Mrs. Sherrill was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. L.A. Sherrill.
Survivors include two daughters, Annice Lera Scoggins of Huntsville and Eva Sue Jackson of Gadsden; one son, Roy Sherrill of Portland, Ore.; and five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

William T. Sisk
SCOTTSBORO - William Thomas "Tom Sisk, 86, died Friday at a Huntsville hospital. The funeral was Sunday at the First Baptist Church of Scottsboro with the Rev. Rick Stevens officiating.
Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Scottsboro.
Mr. Sisk was a retired manager at the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. in Scottsboro.
He was World War II veteran, a member of Masonic Lodge No. 359 and the owner of Toms Cafe.
Survivors include his wife, Lalia Sisk; two daughters, Betty Esslinger and Nancy Esslinger, both of Scottsboro; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Lori Stover
NEW MARKET - Lori Stover, 52, died Friday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home with Rev. Doak Mansfield officiating.
Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Stover worked at the Huntsville/Madison County Mental Health Center.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Cowley; two daughters, Helena Anderson and Jana Gibbs, both of New Market; two sons, Robert Cowley of Fort Riley, Kan., and Ben-Aaron Downing of Huntsville; one brother, Howard Stover Jr. of Huntsville; and three grandchildren and several nieces and one nephew.

Survivors include her husband, Ted Tubbs; three daughters, Patricia Tubbs of Scottsboro, Roxana Tucker of Society Hills, S.C., and Mary Guinn of Hollywood, Ala.; one son, Randy Tubbs of Scottsboro; one sister, Margaret Walker of Lenox, Tenn.; and one brother, Basil Studard Jr. of Lenox.
