Novvie E. Allen
Novvie Ellen Allen, 94, of Huntsville died Tuesday at a local nursing home. The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at McEvoy Funeral Home in Paris, Tenn.
Burial will be in Conyersville Cemetery in Puryear, Tenn., with Spry Funeral Home in charge of local arrangements.
Mrs. Allen was a native of Henry County, Tenn., and had lived in Huntsville since 1976.
Survivors include two daughters, Luzelle Haskins of Huntsville and Imogene Williamson of Savannah, Ga.; and five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at McEvoy Funeral Home.
James H. Bone
GURLEY - James H. Bone, 94, died Monday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Consolidated Flint River and Running Water Memorial Tabernacle with Bro. Samuel Milton officiating.
Burial will be in Bone Cemetery in Gurley with Nelms Memorial Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include two daughters, Belle D. Bone and Carolyn Glover, both of Gurley; seven sons, James Bone Jr. and Harry Bone, both of Gurley, Jeremiah Bone of Los Angeles, George L. Bone of Brownsboro and Benjamin H. Bone, Moses L. Bone and Fred L. Bone, all of Huntsville; one sister, Vinnie Bone of Huntsville; and one brother, Dan Bone of Huntsville.
His body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.
Mabel Cornutt
GADSDEN - Mabel Thompson Simpson Cornutt, 89, died Tuesday. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Crestwood Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. E.J. Reynolds officiating.
Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Cornutt was preceded in death by two husbands, Rufus E. Simpson and Dave Cornutt.
Survivors include one son, Elmer "Al" Simpson of Huntsville; one daughter, Colleen Thornton of Gadsden; and four stepchildren, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Jereld T. Couch
FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. - Jereld Thomas "Tom" Couch, 56, died Thursday at a Fort Walton Beach hospital. The graveside service will be Monday at Maple Hill Cemetery.
Emerald Coast Funeral Home is in charge of burial.
Mr. Couch was a native of Lewisburg, Tenn.
Survivors include one son, Kelly Couch of Huntsville; one daughter, Jerri Couch of Nashville; his mother, Jewel Couch of Huntsville; two sisters, Peggy Hammers of Huntsville and Jane Kopp of Chicago; one brother, Jim Couch of Huntsville; and two grandchildren.
Deoba S. Gant
GERALDINE - Deoba Snider Gant, 77, died Monday at her home. The funeral was to be today at 1 p.m. at W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Verlon Stiefel, the Rev. Bobby Pendergrass and the Rev. Ben Holcomb officiating.
Burial will be in Beulah Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Clerance Gant of Geraldine; three sons, Tommy Gant of Geraldine, Wayne Gant of Gadsden and Terry Gant of Guntersville; two sisters, Idel Bradford of Dawson and Estele Stanfield of Ider; and 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Alexandra George
Alexandra George, 75, of Huntsville died Monday at her home. The funeral was today 11 a.m. at Greek Orthodox Church with the Rev. Eugene Schockly officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery with Spry Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include one sister, Georia Michles of San Jose, Calif.; one brother, Danny Koklas of Huntsville; two nieces, Diane Ramsey of Charlotte, N.C., and Helen Salvatore of San Jose, Calif. Memorial donations may be made to the Greek Orthodox Church.
Earlene M. Hampton
LANCASTER, Calif. - Earlene Mae Hampton, 58, died June 6. The funeral was June 9 at Halley-Olsen Funeral Chapel in Lancaster.
Mrs. Hampton was formerly of Ardmore, Ala., and Hazel Green .
Survivors include two daughters, Sherri Anna of Lancaster and Kari Kuhlmann of Ardmore, Ala.; and five grandchildren.
Andy Haynes
FYFFE - Andy Haynes, 49, died Tuesday at a DeKalb County hospital. The funeral will be today at 4 p.m. at Old Sardis Holiness Church.
Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel in charge.
Survivors include his mother, Rachael Haynes of Rainsville; one sister, Carolyn Brown of Sylvania; and three brothers, Loyd Haynes and William Haynes, both of Fyffe, and Doyle Haynes of Sylvania.
Littie M. Lackey
HAZEL GREEN - Littie May Lackey, 84, of West Limestone Road died Monday in Fayetteville. The funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Gallant Funeral Home Chapel in Hazel Green with Elder Faye Harwell officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Lackey was a native of Madison County, a member of Imannuel Church of Christ and a retired waitress.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Dawson of Hazel Green ; and two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Jessie Martin
CROSSVILLE - Jessie M. Hope Martin, 84, of 1743 County Road 23 died Monday at a Fort Payne hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at New Canaan Baptist Church.
Burial was to be in the adjoining cemetery with Adams Funeral Home of Albertville in charge.
Survivors include her husband, Wendell Martin; three sons, Gary Hope and Kenny J. Hope, both of Crossville, and Ronald Hope of Hartselle; one stepdaughter, Faye Patterson of Albertville; one sister, Lena Hendrix of Painter; one brother, L.C. Smith of Crossville; and three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Sarah May
TONEY - Sarah Amelia Overmyer May, 97, of Route 2 died today at a Bessemer nursing home. The funeral will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Taylor-Ardmore Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Taylor officiating.
Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery.
She was a member of Mays Memorial Baptist Church and was preceded in death by one daughter, Edith May Vanhoozer.
Survivors include one son, Glen Harold May of New Johnsonville, Tenn.; and two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Linnie M. McCown
FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. - Linnie McAlister McCown, 93, of 1 Old Huntsville Road died Monday at a Fayetteville nursing home. The funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Ed Austin officiating.
Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery.
Mrs. McCown was a native of Lincoln County, Tenn., a homemaker and a member of Wells Hill Church of Christ.
Survivors include five daughters, Carol Chandler of Huntsville, Gail Cornelius of Blountsville and Barbara Spencer, Joyce Mahal and Judy McCown, all of Fayetteville; five sons, Danny McCown of Huntsville and Phillip McCown, Newman McCown, Joe McCown and Larry McCown, all of Fayetteville; one sister, Polly Stotler of Barberton, Ohio; one brother, Virgil McAlister of Fayetteville; and 19 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
Billy R. McLemore
ATHENS - Billy Ray McLemore, 59, of 15720 Reid Road died Monday at his home. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with Dusty McLemore officiating.
Burial was to be in Dement Cemetery.
Mr. McLemore was a native of Limestone County, retired from Reynolds Metal in Sheffield and was a member of the Army National Guard in Athens.
Survivors include his wife, Vicki Allen McLemore; one daughter, Leigh McLemore Black of Athens; his mother, Ada Gordon McLemore of Athens; three brothers, Dempsey McLemore, Alvis McLemore and Bobby McLemore, all of Athens; three sisters, Catherine Griffin, Marjorie Reece and Jennifer Holmes, all of Athens; and two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Imogene Presley
Imogene Presley, 73, of Huntsville died Monday at her home. The funeral will be today at 7 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Robert Ledford officiating. A graveside service will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham with the Rev. Ed J. Deel officiating.
Mrs. Presley was a native of Tuscaloosa and was a 1944 Hueytown High School graduate. She lived in Pleasant Grove until 1946 and had lived in Huntsville since 1958.
Survivors include her husband, William Darwin Presley of Huntsville; three daughters, Rebecca Presley, Linda Joy Allen and Laura Lee Lide, all of Huntsville; one sister, Frances Harrison of Pleasant Grove; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Anna K. Sandbeck
HAZEL GREEN - Mrs. Anna Kristina Sandbeck, 86, of Carriger Road died Monday at her home. The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Crystal Lake Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minn.
Mrs. Lackey was a native of Sweden, a housewife and a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Minneapolis.
Survivors include one daughter, Dusti Fenno of Hazel Green ; and two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Leslie L. Shelburne
HAMMONDVILLE - Leslie L. Shelburne, 84, died Monday at his home. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Valley Head Cemetery with the Rev. Earl H. Talley Sr. officiating.
W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel is in charge of burial.
Survivors include his wife, Jewel McKenzie Shelburne of Hammondville; one daughter, Darla Janik of Manitou Springs, Colo.; one stepdaughter, Katha Patterson of Brandon, Miss.; one stepson, Hal Burton of Grant; two sisters, Clarice Darrow and Ila Mae Long, both of Rosenburg, Texas; and two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Myrtice M. Smith
ALBERTVILLE - Myrtice Marie Smith, 91, of 902 Hunter Road died Sunday at a local hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Albertville.
Burial was to be in Marshall Memorial Garden.
Survivors include one son, Don Smith of Albertville; and three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Richard L. Thomas
ATHENS - Mr. Richard Leon "Dick" Thomas, 82, of 510 6th St. died Monday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Don Osborne officiating.
Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery.
Mr. Thomas was a member of Market Street Church of Christ, a World War II Army veteran and retired from Gulf Oil Distributor in Athens and the Limestone County Co-Op.
Survivors include one sister, Roberta Creel of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Versa M. White
BREMEN, Ga. - Versa M. White, 85, died Tuesday. The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Bremen with the Rev. Garvin Sellers officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Hightower Funeral Home in Bremen in charge.
Survivors include one daughter, Carol Booher of Huntsville; two stepdaughters, Nancy Morton of Freeport, Texas, and Pamela Proso of Kent, Wash.; two stepsons, Timothy White of Carrollton, Ga., and Dan White of Jefferson City, Mo.; one brother, Robert F. Meeks of Demorist, Ga.; and three grandchildren.
