Cleo H. Beard
Cleo Hawkins Beard, 79, of Huntsville died Thursday. The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Laughlin Service Funeral Home chapel.
Burial will be in Cameron Cemetery.
Mrs. Beard was a member of Brownsboro Baptist Church and Women of the Moose Chapter No. 1255.
Survivors include two daughters, Peggy B. Lewis of Maysville and Linda B. Brewer of Ryland; one son, Roger D. Beard of Madison; one sister, Mae Sublett of Brownsboro; one brother, John W. Hawkins of Gurley; and five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Annie L. Brown
FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. - Annie Lucille Brown, 85, 162 Simmons Circle died today at a Fayetteville hospital. The funeral will be Sunday at 4 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Gay officiating.
Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery.
Mrs. Brown was a native of Lincoln County, Tenn., a homemaker and a member of Prospect Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Buford W. Brown of Fayetteville; one son, Jerry W. Brown of Fayetteville; two sisters, Alma Magnusson and Bernice Bailey, both of Ardmore, Ala.; and two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday from 4 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

James H. Byrd
James Herman Byrd, 68, of Huntsville died Monday at his home. The funeral will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Paul Stone officiating.
Burial will be in Neals Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Byrd was a native of Madison County and retired from Huntsville Hospital. He was preceded in death by one stepson, Dan Byrd.
Survivors include one stepdaughter, Deborah Easler of Ashland City, Tenn.; one half-sister, Maybell Walls of Owens Cross Roads; one niece, Carolyn Faye Byrd Rice of Huntsville; one nephew, Paul Byrd Jr. of Huntsville; and one aunt and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
James H. Chunn Sr.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - James Henry Chunn Sr., 69, died Wednesday at his home. The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne L. Johnson officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery with Taylor Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Chunn was a manager for Ace Hardware 27 years and a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one son, James Chunn Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Bernice Chunn of Chattanooga; two daughters, Veronica B. Chunn and Gwendolyn D. Chunn, both of Huntsville; one son, Jeffrey B. Chunn of Chattanooga; two sisters, Lettie Clark and Willie Ellison, both of Huntsville; two brothers, Clifford Chunn and Ernest Chunn, both of Huntsville; and 10 grandchildren.
Inez Couch
ARAB - Maj. Inez Couch, 85, of 869 Shoal Creek Trail died Wednesday at a Huntsville nursing home. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Gober Funeral Home in Arab.
Burial was to be in Arab Memorial Cemetery.
Survivors include one brother, Lowell Couch of Arab.
Mary C. Ellenberger
COUNCIL BLUFF, Iowa - Mary Catherine Ellenberger, 82, of Simms Avenue died Wednesday. The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church with the Rev. William McNeeley officiating.
Burial will be in Riverview Memorial Gardens with Gallant Funeral Home of Fayetteville, Tenn., in charge.
Mrs. Ellenberger was a native of Detroit and a retired registered nurse for the Army. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Ellenberger.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Ellenberger of Beaverton, Ore.; three sons, Mark Ellenberger of Council Bluff, Matthew Ellenberger of Annapolis, Md., and Fred Ellenberger of Fayetteville; and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Annie O. Floyd
BOAZ - Annie Opal Floyd, 79, of 506 Thomas Ave. died Wednesday at a Fayetteville, Tenn., nursing home. The graveside service was today at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery in Boaz.
Albertville Memorial Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of burial.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda K. Burris of Louisiana; one son, John Floyd of Toney; three sisters, Viola Holcomb of Guntersville, Marie Snead of New Hope and Virginia Whaley of New Mexico; one brother, John Coppett of Huntsville; and four grandchildren.
Steven K. Harris
ALBERTVILLE - Steven Kyle Harris, 2, of 615 Half Section Line Road died Tuesday at a Huntsville hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Albertville.
Burial was to be in Free Home Cemetery at Grant.
Survivors include his parents, Julia R. Whitaker and Jeffery L. Harris, both of Albertville; two sisters, Amanda Manery and Rachel Harris, both of Albertville; one brother, Jeffery M. Harris of Albertville; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Harris and Rita Ward, all of Albertville, and Gary and Deborah Ayers of Minnesota; and great-grandmother, Zona West of Albertville.
Eula I. Harville
CROSSVILLE - Eula Irene Harville, 89, died Wednesday. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Sand Mountain Funeral Home in Rainsville with the Rev. Hershel Tripp and the Rev. Junior Garrett officiating.
Burial was to be in Mount Hermon Cemetery in Pine Ridge.
Mrs. Harville was a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church in the Pumpkin Center community.
Survivors include one daughter, Gloria Stockman of Trenton, Ga.; three sons, Iven Harville of Dawson, Olen Harville of Albertville and Earlon Harville of Fort Payne; two sisters, Dora Walker and Minnie Twilly, both of Fort Payne; and 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Normie G. Hodnett
Normie Goleman Hodnett, 80, of Huntsville died Thursday. The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Hixson Funeral Home chapel in Leesville, La.
Burial will be in Hicks Cemetery in Hicks, La., with Spry Funeral Home in charge of local arrangements.
Mrs. Hodnett was a native of Slaygle, La., and had lived in Madison County 41 years.
Survivors include four sons, William J. Westfall of Brandon, Fla., Norman Westfall of Baltimore, Md., John H. Hodnett of Eunice, La., and James B. Hodnett of Huntsville; one sister, Lnora Calhoun of Leesville; and six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Glenn A. Johnson
Glenn A. "Johnny" Johnson, 80, of Huntsville died Wednesday at his home. The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Laughlin Service Funeral Home chapel.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Johnson was a Ham Radio operator, an avid golfer, an electronics hobbyist and a member of Cahaba Shrine Temple, Elks Lodge No. 1648, Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion, Retired Officers Association and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille K. Johnson of Huntsville; one son and daughter-in-law, Danny G. and Ginger Johnson of Huntsville; and one granddaughter, two nieces and one nephew.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Rita C. Paulukaitis
Rita C. Paulukaitis, 65, of Huntsville died Wednesday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Curtis Eason officiating.
Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Paulukaitis was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and a member of the retired NCO Wifes Club. She worked in Huntsville City Schools 28 years.
Survivors include one daughter, Karen Paulukaitis of Madison; three sons, David Paulukaitis of Lilburn, Ga., Robert Paulukaitis of Glendale, Ariz., and Stephen Paulukaitis of Taft, Tenn.; two sisters, Margie Hardy of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Dottie Buckley of Massachusetts; two brothers, John Buckley and Dan Buckley of Plant City, Fla.; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Wiley D. Ray
ATHENS - Wiley Dixon Ray, 89, of McClellan Street died Wednesday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home in Athens with Grady Reyer officiating.
Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery.
Mr. Ray was a retired construction worker.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ray; one daughter, Bertha Day of Alabaster; and seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Cecil A. Seaver
TANNER - Cecil A. Seaver, 76, died Wednesday at his home. A graveside service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Limestone Memorial Gardens with Chaplain Billy Turner officiating and McConnell Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Seaver was retired from NASA, where he was a mechanical quality control specialist, owned North Alabama Golf and Leisure Cars here, was an Air Force veteran of World War II and was in airplanes that were twice shot down, and was a prisoner of war. He was also a member of Isoms Chapel Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Louise Seaver; one daughter, Louisa Ann Martin; one grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Gearod E. Thomas
Gearod E. "Jack" Thomas, 67, of Huntsville died Thursday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:45 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Ron Pelton officiating.
Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery.
Mr. Thomas was a native of Birmingham and had lived in Huntsville since 1972. He retired from the Air Force and had worked with the YMCA.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Thomas of Huntsville; two daughters, Debbie Thomas and Lori Roberson, both of Huntsville; five sons, Scott Thomas, Wesley Thomas and Steve Thomas, all of Huntsville, Mike Thomas of Meridianville and David Thomas of Columbus, Ga.; two brothers, Doverd Thomas of Decatur and Ron Thomas of Birmingham; four sisters, ODelle Pugh, Norma Junkins and Juanita Robison, all of Birmingham, and Robbie Green of Montevallo; and six grandchildren.

Jerry F. Tucker
FLINTVILLE, Tenn. - Jerry F. Tucker, 63, of 24 Pendergrass Road died Thursday at his home. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Higgins Funeral Home in Fayetteville, Tenn., with the Rev. Clive Bell officiating.
Burial will be in Kelso Cemetery.
Mr. Tucker was a native of Lincoln County, Tenn., an Army veteran and a member of Flintville First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Clydia Moore Tucker of Flintville; one daughter, Lisa Lones of Fayetteville; two sons, Daryl Tucker of Fayetteville and Anthony Tucker of Flintville; three sisters, Bernice Norman of Kelso, Ellen Smith of Saugerties, N.Y., and Juanita Cashion of Flintville; and four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Hoyt V. Vassar
HAZEL GREEN - The Rev. Hoyt V. Vassar, 90, died Thursday at his home. Valhalla Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
The Rev. Vassar was a member of University Baptist Church. He earned a degree in pastoral studies from Samford University in Birmingham, was a native of Madison County and had served as a pastor and missionary for several area churches.
Survivors include one daughter, Mancy Lou Rader of Hazel Green ; one brother, Milas Vassar of Huntsville; and two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Flora B. Veal
ALBERTVILLE - Flora B. Veal, 68, of 403 Rose Road died Thursday at her home. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Albertville.
Burial will be in Marshall Memorial Garden.
Survivors include one daughter, Rita Elmore of Florida; three sisters, Ruth Connaly and Helen Smith, both of Georgia, and Geraldine Moore of South Carolina; one brother, Edward Waddle of Altoona; and two grandchildren.
Louis Woodall
SCOTTSBORO - Louis Woodall, 83, died Thursday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Rudder Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Jacobs and the Rev. Johnny Woodall officiating.
Burial will be in Pinehaven Memorial Gardens in Hollywood.
Mr. Woodall was a retired carpenter and U.S. Army World War II veteran. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Woodall; one daughter, Ruby Lawhenore of Bridgeport; one son, Talmadge Woodall of Stevenson; one brother, Walker Woodall of Scottsboro; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
