Lillian M. Arnold
Lillian May Arnold, 84, of Huntsville died July 25 at a local nursing home. The funeral was Wednesday at Eastgate Funeral Home in Garland, Texas, with the Rev. Earnest Walt officiating.
Burial was in Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.
Mrs. Arnold was preceded in death by her husband, John Jasper Arnold; and one son, Samuel Henry Arnold Sr. She moved to Huntsville from Dallas in 1992.
Survivors include one son, Nolan E. "Gene" Arnold of Mesquite, Texas; four daughters, Juanita Carolyn Floyd of Emory, Texas, Virginia "Ginger" Arnold Bourgeois of Slidell, La., Joyce Kay Rosenberg of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Loyce Faye Fulton of Huntsville; two brothers, J.D. Hardy of California and L.B. Hardy of Missouri; two sisters, Kathryn Authement of Houston and Helen Jones of Hurst, Texas; and 19 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Kenneth R. Bryant
FLINTVILLE, Tenn. - Kenneth Ray Bryant of Clemmons Road died Sunday at a Fayetteville, Tenn., hospital. The funeral was to be today at 3 p.m. at Gallant Funeral Home in Fayetteville with the Rev. Elton Brazier officiating.
Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery.
Mr. Bryant was a native of Lincoln County, Tenn., a carpenter, a Vietnam veteran and a member of Elora Mountain View Free Will Holiness Church.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Bryant of Flintville; one daughter, Stacey Amos of Flintville; one son, Danny Ray Bryant of Flintville; three sisters, Margie Taylor of Flintville and Joyce Waggoner and Betty Autin, both of Nashville; three brothers, William Bryant of Alto, Tenn., Robert Bryant of Winchester, Tenn., and Billy Bryant of Jefferson, Ga.
Joe D. Cox
ATHENS - Joe David Cox, 64, of 1207 North Houston St. died Monday at an Athens hospital. Limestone Chapel Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Arjan B. Dewan
Arjan Bahadar Dewan, 68, of Huntsville died Monday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Thursday at 7 p.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Tom Perrin officiating.
Valhalla Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Dewan was an Air Force veteran and a graduate of the Milwaukee School of Engineering. He worked with Boeing on the Apollo program and the 747 aircraft. He was a member of Elks Lodge No. 1648.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Dewan of Huntsville; two sisters, Kamila Chaundhry of New Dehli, India, and Sarla Shah of Narnaul, India; and one brother, Sudershan Bahadar Dewan of New Dehli.
Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Elks Memorial Center in Montgomery.
Tommie W. Hillis
Tommie Wilson Hillis, 81, of Huntsville died Sunday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Larry Johnson officiating.
Burial will be in Cameron Cemetery.
Mrs. Hillis was a native of Madison County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde D. Hillis.
Survivors include three daughters, Lucille Green of Huntsville, Florence Wells of Ryland and Carolyn Guthrie of Gurley; two sons, Edward Hillis of South Carolina and Johnny Hillis of Hazel Green ; and 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Douglas Holt
FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. - Douglas "Pete" Holt, 67, of 12 South Lincoln Road died Sunday at a local hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Jones and the Rev. Ronnie Gay officiating.
Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery.
Mr. Holt was a native of Madison County, retired from Redstone Arsenal, an Army veteran and a member of Prospect Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Winsett Holt; one daughter, Cheryl Flynn of Fayetteville; one son, Charlie Rozar of Fayetteville; one sister, Barbara Amos of Fayetteville; and two grandchildren, one aunt, one uncle, one niece and three nephews.
Elva Novotnak
Elva Novotnak of Huntsville died Monday at a local nursing home. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with the Rev. Tom Ackerman officiating.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Novotnak of Huntsville; one daughter, Maria N. Starratt of Glen Carbon, Ill.; one son, James F. Novotnak of Owasso, Okla.; one sister, Delores Genesio of Flourissant, Mo.; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
George V. Oliver
ALBERTVILLE - George Verlon Oliver, 67, of 1311 Corbinville Road died Sunday at his home. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Albertville.
Burial was to be in Memory Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Oliver; three daughters, Sandra Lee of Pleasant Grove, Barbara Hyde of Albertville and Karen Oakley of North Carolina; one son, Lawayne Oliver of Albertville; one sister, Affarine Holsonback of Albertville; one brother, Cleburn Oliver of Albertville; and six grandchildren.
L.J. Pate
BOAZ - L.J. Pate, 50, of 6323 Alabama 168 died Sunday at his home. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Golden Heights Baptist Church.
Burial was to be in Douglas Cemetery with Albertville Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Pate; two daughters, Kim Pate and Melissa Stephens, both of Boaz; one son, Greg Pate of Opelika; parents, Eulice and Delona Pate of Douglas; one sister, Brenda Rogers of Albertville; three brothers, Roy Pate of South Carolina, Thomas Pate of Sardis and Charles Pate of Douglas; and five grandchildren.
Lillian L. Schnetzler
McMINNVILLE, Tenn. - Lillian Lena Schnetzler, 87, died Wednesday. A private funeral will be today at Mountain View Cemetery.
High Funeral Home of McMinnville is in charge of burial.
She was formerly of Huntsville and was preceded in death by her husband, John George Schnetzler.
Survivors include one son, Neal Kemp Schnetzler of Longmont, Colo.; and three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Doris E. Sharples
Doris E. Sharples, 56, of Huntsville died Monday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Steve Pettey officiating.
Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Sharples was a native of Germany and had moved to Huntsville in 1968. She was a retired school teacher and a member of Sherwood Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. William C. Sharples of Huntsville; two sons, Steve Sharples and the Rev. Andy Sharples, both of Huntsville; one brother, Gerd Vogt of Germany; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to Sherwood Baptist Church.
Olin F. Wicks Jr.
PISGAH - Olin F. Wicks Jr., 34, died Monday. The funeral will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar wtih the Rev. Arland Weldon officiating.
Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery in Pisgah.
Mr. Wicks worked for Polymer Plastics in Henagar and was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Henagar.
Survivors include his mother, Beverly Wicks of Henagar; his father, Olin F. Wicks Sr. of Pisgah; two sisters, Janey Adams and Sandy Adams, both of Stevenson; one brother, Jimmy Wicks of Henagar; and his grandmother, Laverne Siedal of Homewood, Ill.
Visitation was to be today at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Jimmy R. Worsham
TANNER - Jimmy R. Worsham, 57, of 20262 Huntsville-Brownsferry Road died Sunday at his home. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with Randy Carter and Gary Keller officiating.
Burial will be in Copeland Cemetery.
Mr. Worsham was a native of Pulaski, a member of Enon Baptist Church and a corrections officer at Limestone Correctional Facility for 15 years.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Worsham; two daughters, Christina Owen of Wilsonville and Wendy Lynn Worsham of Tanner; one son, Jay Worsham of Athens; his mother, Juanita Blair Worsham of Pulaski; one sister, Betty Worsham Clark of Pulaski; one brother, Doug Worsham of Lafayette, Tenn.; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
