Lovella Adams
BOAZ - Lovella Scott Adams, 98, of 1013 Snellgrove Ave. died Friday at her home. The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Albertville Memorial Chapel.
Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Murphy and Claudine Wright, both of Boaz; one son, Coy E. Adams of Gadsden; one sister, Marie Dobbins of Gadsden; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mildred L. Baucom
Mildred L. Sharp Baucom, 69, of Huntsville died Saturday at her home. The funeral will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel.
Burial will be in Rice Cemetery.
Mrs. Baucom was a lifelong resident of Madison County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Baucom.
Survivors include three daughters, Dalta Dudley of Somerville, Dorothy Finley of Toney and Glenda Faye Glassco of Decatur; two sisters, Mabel Gipson Parker of Huntsville and Pansy Sharp Soltice of Longmont, Colo.; one brother, Robert Gene Sharp of Park City, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Family Care.
Ozell Pierce Bowen
GUNTERSVILLE - Ozell Pierce Bowen, 73, died Friday at a local hospital. The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Liberty Hill Church.
Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Adams Funeral Home of Albertville directing.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Bowen Smith of Nashville and Debbie Bowen Hicks of Hermitage, Tenn.; one brother, Otis Pierce of Albertville; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Dimple E. Corder
Dimple Ellen Corder, 84, of Huntsville died Saturday at a local hospital. Spry Funeral Home will announce the funeral
Mrs. Corder was a native of Cookville, Tenn., and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include three daughters, Betty Sue Stewart, Edith Camlyn Harbin and Jan McKelvey, all of Huntsville; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
William B. Forney
William B. Forney, 79, of Huntsville died Saturday at a local nursing home. No funeral is planned.
Laughlin Service Funeral Home will be directing.
Mr. Forney was a retiree from the U.S. Soil Conservation Service.
Survivors include one son, Alan Forney of Madison; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
Harry James Harris
Harry James Harris, 68, of Huntsville died Thursday at his home. The memorial service will be today at 6 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel.
Mr. Harris was a native of Buffalo, N.Y., and a 40-year resident of Madison County.
Survivors include three daughters, Virginia Elaine Gore of Huntsville, Angela Marie Bodine of Harvest and Elizabeth Anne Harris of Los Angeles; and four grandchildren, Michael Shane Gibbs, Lori Elizabeth Smith and Heather Marie Bodine, all of Huntsville, and Ryan Neil Bodine of North Carolina.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the American Heart Association.
Leona M. Harris
GARLAND, Texas - Leona M. Harris, 82, of 4241 Upland Way died Friday at a Garland nursing home. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Madison Chapel Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Harris was a lifelong Baptist and a retired technician.
Survivors include one son, Cecil C. Harris of Garland; one daughter, Ann Bradwell of Rockwood, Mich.; and one sister, Beatrice Chamberlain of Huntsville.
Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 9 p.m.
Iley M. Johnson
DECATUR - Iley Maxwell Johnson, 73, of 2819 Westchester Dr. died Friday at a Huntsville hospital. The funeral will be today at 4 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home in Hartselle with the Rev. Vandon Windsor officiating.
Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery.
Mr. Johnson was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church, an Army veteran of World War II and a crane operator at Wolverine Tube until his retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Moreta Davis Johnson; one daughter, Beverly White of Decatur; two sons, J. Douglas Johnson of Hoover and Mike Davis of Hartselle; four sisters, Iris Jackson, Jean Windsor, Geraldine Garner and Linda Harris, all of Somerville; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mary Emma Johnson
ALABASTER - Mary Emma Johnson, 79, died Friday at a Shelby County hospital. The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home in Hartselle with the Rev. Vernon Willis officiating.
Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery near Eva.
Mrs. Johnson was a native of Morgan County, a homemaker and a member of Union Hill Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hezikiah Johnson.
Survivors include eight daughters, Ida Boggs of Bessemer, Sue Smith of Birmingham, Linda Turney of Falkville, Carol Cunningham of Bumpus Mills, Tenn., Sandra Martin of Pelham, Frances Taylor of Woodbridge, Va., Wanda Grubbs of Maylene, Ala., and Norma Reeser of Alabaster; four sisters, Lillian Armstrong of Birmingham, Betty June Moll of Whitehall, Pa., Annie Mae George and Shirley Drinkard, both of Falkville; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
J.D. Kent
HARTSELLE - J.D. Kent, 63, of Barclay Bridge Road died Saturday at a Huntsville hospital. The funeral will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Napier and the Rev. Jack Freeman officiating.
Burial will be in Shoal Creek Cemetery.
Mr. Kent was a native of Morgan County, a self-employed masonry contractor and a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Clemons Kent; one daughter, Kathy J. Kent of Hartselle; three sons, Karl D. Kent of Madison and Kelly D. Kent and Kevin D. Kent, both of Hartselle; one sister, Frances Downs of Somerville; four brothers, Roy B. Kent of Decatur, David H. Kent of Somerville, Bennie F. Kent of Gardendale and Ray Kent of Hillsboro.
Edna B. Newman
GADSDEN - Edna B. Newman, 89, died Friday at a hospital. The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Forrest Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Fuhrman and Dr. Oscar A. Davis officiating.
Collier-Butler Funeral Home will be in charge.
Mrs. Newman was born in Birmingham and lived in Dadeville before moving to Gadsden in 1974. She was an active volunteer. Among her many volunteer jobs were service with the PTA, a hospital gift shop and membership on the Etowah County Medical Auxiliary. Mrs. Newman was a Baptist.
Survivors include two daughters, Yvonne Newman Meigs of Huntsville and Joy Newman Bunn of Houston; one son, Dr. Lucian Newman Jr.; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations for medical education scholarships may be mailed to The Caduceus Club of the University of Alabama School of Medicine, 811 South 20th St., Birmingham 35294 in memory of Mrs. Lucian Newman Jr., or to a favorite charity.
Beatrice Parker
FYFFE - Beatrice Parker, 94, died Friday at a DeKalb County hospital. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jimmie Graves and Brother Jerry Simmons officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. View Memorial Garden.
Survivors include two daughters, Arbadella Gray of Rainsville and Annie Lee Powell of Menlo, Ga.; one son, Fred C. Parker; one brother, Ulyess Graves, both of Fort Payne; four grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and five great-grandchildren.
Clara Orr Puryear
HARTSELLE - Clara Orr Puryear, 93, of U.S. 31 North died Friday at her home. The funeral will be today at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. W.G. Henry officiating.
Burial will be in Herring Cemetery.
Mrs. Puryear was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hartselle and a teacher for 42 years in the Morgan, Colbert and Jefferson County school systems. She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Puryear.
Mrs. Orr is survived by one brother, R.B. Orr of Hartselle.
Catherine Rainey
ARDMORE, Tenn. - Catherine White Rainey, 87, died Saturday at her home. The graveside service will be today at 4 p.m. at Blanche Cemetery with the Rev. James Holt officiating.
Higgins Funeral Home will be in charge.
Survivors include her husband, James Rainey; and her brother, Frank White, both of Ardmore, Tenn.
