Mildred L. Abend
SKYLINE - Mildred L. Abend, 88, died Friday at a Scottsboro nursing home. The funeral will be today at 4 p.m. at Skyline Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. David Paradise officiating.
Burial will be in Skyline Cemetery.
Survivors include one sister, Geraldine Bibbee of Scottsboro.

Mary A. Achatz
Mary Agnes Achatz, 72, of Huntsville died Thursday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with the Rev. Louis Giardino officiating.
Survivors include her husband, Charles A. Achatz; four daughters, Barbara Zuber, Linda Brasher, Robbie Hayes and Suzie Keener, all of Huntsville; one son, James Achatz of Huntsville; one brother, James Venato of Texas; and 11 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday from 9:15 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association.

Roy E. Currie Jr.
Roy Ellis Currie Jr., 73, of Huntsville died Friday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Mel Strain and Dr. Bill Cockrell officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery with Laughlin Service Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Currie was a 1950 Georgia Tech electrical engineering graduate and a World War II Navy veteran. He went to work for ABMA in 1952 and was the chief engineer for Space Lab and wrote specifications for the Lunar Rover. He was also a deacon at First Presbyterian Church. He was the first president of the Grisson High School and Whitesburg Junior High School booster clubs and the first chairman of the Small Business Committee of the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce. He retired from NASA in 1981.
Survivors include his wife, Mary "Rickey" Currie of Huntsville; four sons, Dan Currie and Roy Currie III, both of Huntsville, David Currie of Easley, S.C., and Don Currie of Houston, Texas; three brothers, James Raymond Currie of Huntsville, Charles Hugh Currie of Atlanta and William Steel Currie of Tallahassee, Fla.; and 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, the American Red Cross or the Salvation Army.

Daisy L. DuBois
FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. - Daisy Lee DuBois, 77, of DuBois Farm Road died Friday at a local nursing home. The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Gallant Funeral Home of Fayetteville with the Rev. Clyde Walker and the Rev. Charles Jones officiating.
Burial will be in Kirkland Cemetery.
Mrs. DuBois was a native of Madison County and a member of Christian Fellowship Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Francis DuBois and Martha Stewart, both of Fayetteville, and Barbara Fanning of Flintville, Tenn.; one son, Oscar Lee DuBois of Fayetteville; three sisters, Anne Benedict of Clinton, Mich., Geneva Seymoure of Huntsville and Lorane Burton of Lynchburg, Tenn.; two brothers, Charles Wilkerson Jr. of Hazel Green and Robert Wilkerson of Huntsville; and three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Idessar Franks
GRANT - Idessar Franks, 95, of 134 Ester Road died Friday at her home. The funeral will be today at 4 p.m. at Grant Memorial Chapel.
Burial will be in Free Home Cemetery.
Survivors include three daughters, Ester B. Cooper, Ruby Neil Kirkland and Nellie Joe Kirkland, all of Grant; two brothers, R.T. Compton and Fred Compton, both of Albertville; and four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

J.W. Herring
J.W. "Doc" Herring, 86, of Huntsville died Friday at a local hospital. The graveside service will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Huntsville Memory Gardens with Dr. R. Laurence Dill officiating.
Laughlin Service Funeral Home is in charge of burial.
Mr. Herring retired from NASA after 40 years of government service. He was active in Christmas Charities Year Around.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel H. Herring of Huntsville; one son, J. Michael Herring of Coronado, Calif.; one daughter, Joyce Herring of Atlanta; two sisters, Julia Williams and Irma Houser, both of Memphis, Tenn.; and two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to Christmas Charities Year Around or Trinity United Methodist Church.

Leonard H. Hicks
PISGAH - Leonard H. Hicks, 80, died Friday at his home. The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar with the Rev. George Scott and the Rev. Freddie Waldrop officiating.
Burial will be in Pisgah Cemetery.
Mr. Hicks was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Sartin Hicks; five daughters, Joan Griffis of Pisgah, Wilma Patterson of Fort Payne and Frances Newman, Margaret Chappman and Roberta Tripp, all of Henagar; one son, Lyndon Hicks of Pisgah; one sister, Cordellie Mitchell of Pisgah; one brother, Leroy Hicks of Pisgah; and 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Willie E. Holley
FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. - Willie Edd Holley, 77, of 308 9th Ave. died Friday at a local nursing home. The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at McCauley Funeral Home in Fayetteville with Bro. Bert Watkins officiating.
Mr. Holley was a native of Giles County, Tenn., and a World War II Army veteran.
Survivors include two sisters, Mildred Mitchell of Pulaski, Tenn., and Dorothy Warren of Dellrose, Tenn.; and one aunt and several nieces and nephews.

Walter F. Miller Jr.
ATHENS - Walter Fred Miller Jr., 72, of 10684 Paradise Shores died Saturday at his home. Limestone Chapel Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.

Lee Moore
HAZEL GREEN - Lee Moore, 70, of Elkwood Section Road died Friday at a Huntsville hospital. The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Gallant Funeral Home chapel of Hazel Green with the Rev. Billy Britton officiating.
Burial will be in Britton Cemetery.
Mr. Moore was a native of Madison County and a retired carman for IHB Railroad Co. in Riverdale, Ill.
Survivors include one son, Rick Lee Moore of Hazel Green ; three sisters, Cathy Guffey of Skyline and Ann Satterfield and Ethel Williamson, both of New Market; one brother, Dee Isbell of New Market; and three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Stewart W. Neal
Stewart W. Neal, 81, of Huntsville died Wednesday at a Phoenix, Ariz., hospital. The funeral will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Laughlin Service Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. John Dees officiating.
Burial will be Tuesday in Danville Memorial Gardens in Danville, Va.
Mr. Neal was a native of Danville and had lived in Huntsville since 1985. He was active in the Moose and Eagle organizations, participated in several bowling leagues and enjoyed ballroom dancing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Overbey Neal.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas W. Neal of Huntsville and James S. Neal of Navarre, Fla.; his fiancee, Myrtle L. Butler of Huntsville; six grandchildren, Kimberly Neal of Green sboro, N.C., Amy Maners of Chesapeake, Va., Anthony Neal and Tricia Neal, both of Edwardsville, Ill., Scott Neal of Huntsville and Kevin Neal of Lipscomb University, Tenn.; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Cherry W. Smith
Cherry Wadley Smith, 71, of Huntsville died Saturday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Huntsville Park Church of Christ with Bro. Lem Tipton officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery with Laughlin Service Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Smith was a member of the church and a retired general manager for New York Life Insurance Co.
Survivors include two sons, Daniel Lee Smith of Nolensville, Tenn., and Arthur Ray Smith of Huntsville; two daughters, Lea Ann Clark of Athens and Dena Sue Taylor of Lakeland, Fla.; four sisters, Nina Waldrep of Tuscaloosa and Robbie Todd, Marcelle Morrow and Olda Alexander, all of Russellville; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the church.

Jean Stallings
STEVENSON - Jean Stallings, 58, died Friday at her home. The funeral will be today at 3 p.m. at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson with the Rev. John Gamble officiating.
Burial will be in Stevenson City Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Joyce Stallings of Stevenson; one son, Pat Stallings of Stevenson; two stepchildren, Kelly Poe and Shelly Cagle, both of Stevenson; four sisters, Barbara Parton of Bridgeport and Lydia Beavers, Ann Owens and Kitty Mershon, all of Stevenson; and two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

Louise H. Westbrook
ARAB - Louise Hall Westbrook, 70, of Arab died Friday at a local hospital. The funeral will be today at 3 p.m. at Joppa Church of God.
Burial will be in Rice Cemetery with Gober Funeral Home of Arab in charge.
Survivors include three daughters, Janice Alexander of Joppa, Sandra Montgomery of Boaz and Judy McCurry of Arab; two sons, Jimmy McCurry of Locust Fork and Eugene McCurry of Arab; two sisters, Beth Purcell of Georgia and Faye Nix of Trafford; and 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Her body will be at the church today at 2 p.m.

Zineth M. Young
SIGNAL MOUNTAIN, Tenn. - Zineth M. Young, 69, died Friday. The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Skyline Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael G. Combs officiating.
Burial will be in Gold Cemetery.
Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Roy Winston Young.
Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Young Roach of Signal Mountain; and three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
