Jewell Adkison
GUNTERSVILLE - Jewell Adkison, 95, of Guntersville died Saturday in a local nursing home. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Crestview Cemetery with Carr Funeral Home of Guntersville directing.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews, including Paul Adkison and Wayne Adkison, both of Guntersville, and Ray Adkison of Decatur.
Velma Bryant
SCOTTSBORO - Velma Bryant, 95, died Saturday at a local hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Rudder Funeral Home with Johnny Mack officiating.
Burial was to be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Bryant was a member of the Broad Street Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Neal Bryant Sr.
Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth B. Carter of Scottsboro and Suey Bryant Thomas of Pell City; one son, Neal Bryant Jr. of Scottsboro; nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
James L. Butler
HENAGAR - James Lester Butler, 70, died Saturday at his home. The funeral was to be today at 1 p.m. at Kerby Funeral Home with Revs. Andy Hutchins and Jimmy Weaver officiating.
Burial was to be in Union Hill Cemetery in Galyesville, Ala.
Mr. Butler was preceded in death by one stepdaughter, Wendy Ferguson.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Reed Butler; three daughters, Nancy Hughes and Connie Bethune, both of Summerville, Ga., and Christy Butler of Henagar; one son, Phil Butler of Summerville; two sisters, Mazie Griffin of Cedar Bluff and Myrtle LeCroy of Gadsden; three brothers, J.C. Butler of Cedar Bluff and Louis Butler and Irby Butler, both of Gadsden; and five grandchildren.
Bernard C. Duncil
GUNTERSVILLE - Bernard Cleo Duncil, 41, of Guntersville died Saturday at his home. The funeral will be later in Kaleva, Mich.
Gober Funeral Home of Arab is in charge of local arrangements.
Survivors include his mother, Marce Creekmore of Guntersville; two sisters, Kathy Bellow of Michigan and Gayle Emmerson; and three brothers, Ken Duncil, Bryant Duncil and Bill Duncil, all of Michigan.
Courtenaye W. Evans
Courtenaye W. Evans, 59, of Huntsville died Saturday at her home. Laughlin Service Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Mrs. Evans was an accomplished painter and sculptor. She had several volumes of poetry published and was a lifelong member of the Episcopalian faith.
Survivors include her husband, Derryl Evans; one daughter, Cathy Stepchuck of Northport; one brother, David Edward Weeks of Clinton, Miss.; and three granddaughters, Anna, Sara and Courtenaye Stepchuck of Northport.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Stephens Episcopal Church.
Ruby R. Jacks
Ruby Ross Jacks, 95, of Huntsville died today at a local nursing home. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Scott Gossett officiating.
Mrs. Jacks was a native of Canada and had lived in Huntsville for the past 45 years. She was a member of West Huntsville Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Donald Ross of Brownsboro; two daughters, Barbara Andrews and Lauelle Miller, both of Huntsville; one brother, Harold Opperthauser of Denver; one sister, Arnetta Helwig of Canada; and four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
Glenn Kennedy
HAZEL GREEN - Glenn Kennedy, 54, of Elkwood Section Road died Sunday at his home. The graveside service will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Locust Grove Cemetery with Tommy Rosenblum officiating.
Gallant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Kennedy was a native of Madison County, a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of Plainview Church of Christ, and was a bailiff at the Madison County Courthouse.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Kennedy; one daughter, Cristie Fairbanks of Helena; one son, Glenn Kennedy Jr. of Huntsville; four half-sisters, Doris Sisco, Carolyn Whitaker, Florence Upton and Edith Kennedy, all of Huntsville; one brother, Jack D. Kennedy of Huntsville; one half-brother, B.C. Ray of Huntsville; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Wilbur R. Lee Sr.
FORT PAYNE - Wilbur R. Lee Sr., 74, died Sunday at his home. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at W.T. Wilson Funeral Home chapel.
Burial will be in Glenn Wood Cemetery.
Mr. Lee was a veteran of World War II, a member of the United Association of Journeyman and Apprentice of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry. He was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Lee; two daughters, Cindy Wilks of Fort Payne and Sheila Saffels of Rainsville; three sons, Robert Lee, Roger Lee and David Lee, all of Mentone; one sister, Wilma McCormick of Lafayette, Ga.; one brother, Carl Lee of Flat Rock; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 3 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Estelle P. Marion
ARAB - Estelle ''Pansy Phillips Marion, 92, of Arab died Saturday in a Guntersville nursing home. The funeral was to be today at 10:30 a.m. at Arab Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Burial was to be in Gilliam Springs Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty Stanley of Guntersville; two sons, David Marion of Guntersville and Frank Marion of Arizona; one brother, Carl Phillips of Florence; and eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
David L. Miller
David L. Miller, 51, of Huntsville died Saturday at his home. The graveside service will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Ed Edgar officiating.
Spry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Miller was a native of Madison County and formerly employed by Wholesale Auto Parts.
Survivors include one daughter, Sherry Miller of Huntsville; three brothers, John Miller and Thomas Miller, both of Huntsville, and Dale Miller of Ardmore; one sister, Brenda Bradford of Huntsville; and two grandsons.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Walter F. Miller Jr.
ATHENS - Walter Fred Miller Jr., 72, of 10684 Paradise Shores, died Saturday at his home. No funeral service is planned.
Limestone Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Miller was retired from TVA.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Miller; four stepdaughters, Martha Culberson and Linda Clemons, both of Florence, Dana Baker of Athens and Kelley Goodman of Laceys Spring; one stepson, Wallace Ray Swaim of Athens; two sisters, Dorothy Knox and Alma Miller, both of Phoenix, Az.; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

ARAB - Ralph Clifton Payne, 61, of 245 Evergreen Road, died Saturday at a Huntsville hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Ruth Baptist Church.
Burial was to be in Clear Springs Methodist Church Cemetery with Arab Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Payne; two daughters, Debra Hancock of Trafford and Sondra Horsley of Remlap; one son, Dan Payne of Atlanta; his stepmother, Elizabeth Payne of Corner; one stepdaughter, Darlene Cornelius of Arab; one stepson, Barry Pesnell of Arab; one brother, Robert Payne of Locust Fork; and 10 grandchildren.
Marie O. Sanders
HOLLYWOOD - Marie Owen Sanders, 84, died Saturday at a Huntsville hospital. The funeral was to be today at 3 p.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home with Revs. Roy Venable and Homer Long officiating.
Burial was to be in East Shadow Line Cemetery in Lawrenceville, Ga.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond Sanders; one daughter, Ruth Long of Auburn, Ga.; one son, Hubert Bolt of Winder, Ga.; one stepdaughter, Sherry Dotson of Rome, Ga.; one stepson, Dennis Sanders of Kentucky; four sisters, Elizabeth Carter of Tucker, Ga., Edna Parris of Buford, Ga., Lois Suttles of Westminister, S.C., and Imogene Callahan of Greenville, S.C.; and 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Fosteen Selby
SCOTTSBORO - Fosteen Selby, 74, died Saturday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Rudder Funeral Home with the Rev. Chuck Bell officiating.
Burial will be in Gant Cemetery.
Ms. Selby was a Baptist and a lifelong resident of Jackson County.
Survivors include one sister, Helen Nichols of Jasper, Tenn.; one brother, Jerry Selby of Scottsboro; one niece, four nephews and one great-nephew.
Eunice Stough
GUNTERSVILLE - Eunice Modine Daniel Stough, 73, of 505 Martin Lane, died Saturday at a local hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Carr Funeral Home in Guntersville.
Burial was to be in Mount Olive Cemetery.
Survivors include three sisters, Leola Bellew of Guntersville, Rena Daniel of Albertville and Louise Ledwell of Sylvania.
