Carole J. Bartley
TONEY - Carole June Bartley, 60, died Sunday at her home. There will be no funeral.
Spry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Bartley was a native of Oklahoma City and had lived in Madison County nine years.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Bartley of Toney; and one daughter and three sons.

Mary E. Berry
MADISON - Mary Elizabeth Berry, 89, died Monday at a local nursing home. Laughlin Service Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Mrs. Berry was a member of First United Methodist Church in Meeker, Okla., and Linwood Methodist Church in Oklahoma City.
Survivors include one grandson, Steven Berry of Huntsville; one granddaughter, Cindy Berry Henley of Madison; and one great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.

Mary L. Daniel
ALBERTVILLE - Mary Lovella Daniel, 93, died Monday at a local hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Albertville.
Burial was to be in Marshall Memorial Garden.
Survivors include two daughters, Billie Nichols and Mary Owens, both of Albertville; one son, Jimmy Daniel of Birmingham; one sister, Retta Light of Albertville; and seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

John J. Dobbins
John Joseph Dobbins, 62, of Huntsville died Sunday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at St. Columba in the Cove Church with the Rev. Larry Mintor officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Dobbins was an insurance broker with J. Smith Lanier Insurance Company. He was a member of St. Columba in the Cove Church.
Survivors include his wife, Suzie Dobbins; two sons, John Joseph Dobbins of Del Ray, Fla., and Christian Dobbins of Boulder, Colo.; one daughter, Meredith Ann Dobbins of Orlando; one stepdaughter, Jessica Lauren Hughes of Brownsboro; his mother, Mary Jo Dobbins of Tampa; one brother, Fred Dobbins of Tampa; one sister, Mary Jean Gibson of Tampa; his ex-wife, Harriet Meredith Dobbins of Huntsville; and three grandchildren and several nieces.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Zella M. Ford
Zella Mae Ford, 69, of Huntsville died Tuesday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Anothy Payne and the Rev. Anothy Ford officiating.
Burial will be in Fords Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Ford was a lifelong Madison County resident and retired from Intergraph. She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Ford.
Survivors include one daughter, LeJeana L. Connell of Laverne, Tenn.; two sons, James R. Ford Jr. of Huntsville and Ricky G. Ford of Morgan City; two sisters, Laura Edwards of Harvest and Edna Payton of Brownsboro; one brother, G.W. Mills of Huntsville; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 3:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jannelle McAllister
Jannelle Louise Gooch McAllister, 50, of Huntsville died Friday at a local hospital. The funeral was today at 10 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church with the Rev. Phil O'Kennedy officiating.
A graveside service was to be today at 3 p.m. at Forest Mills Cemetery in Manchester, Tenn., with Laughlin Service Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Mcallister was a native of Huntsville.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph Hobbs and Dexter McAllister, both of Manchester; one brother, Brownie F. Gooch of Huntsville; three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Pujol of Decatur and Jo Ann Danner and Constance Hornbuckle, both of Huntsville; and two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Susan A. Spray
GRANT - Susan Ann Spray, 41, of 101 Suncrest Drive Apt. C-3 died Tuesday at her home. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Grant Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Clayton Tuggle officiating.
Burial will be in Free Home Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Anita Spray of Grant and Sandra Spray of New Hope; one son, Edward Spray Jr. of Grant; two sisters, Tammy Holder and Betty Spray, both of Huntsville; three brothers, Kevin Lewandowski of Huntsville and Kenneth Nelson and Rickey Nelson, both of New Hope; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Albert W. Tellstrom
Albert Wallace Tellstrom, 75, of Huntsville died Tuesday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel.
Mr. Tellstrom was a native of Chicago and had lived in Huntsville nine years.
Survivors include two sons, Ricky Tellstrom of Huntsville and Albert Wallace Tellstrom Jr. of Clinton, Miss.; and one brother, Roy Tellstrom of St. Petersburg, Fla.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
Visitation will be Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

James O. Turner
James O. Turner, 77, of Huntsville died Monday at a local hospital. The funeral was to be today at 1 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with Richard Harp officiating.
Burial will be in Stateline Cemetery.
Mr. Turner was a native of Tennessee but spent most his life in Madison County. He was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Hart Turner of Huntsville; five daughters, Evelyn Ledbetter and Martha Jo Buchanan, both of Lacey's Spring, Peggy Jane Kirkland of Tennessee, Shirley Rhodes of El Paso, Texas, and Emma Taymon of Huntsville; three sons, James Turner Jr. of New Market, Lonnie Turner of Huntsville and Roy Turner of Lacey's Spring; one stepson, Billy J. Jones of Morgan City; four brothers, J.C. Turner, Aubry Gene Turner and Robert Turner, all of Huntsville, and Charles Turner of North Carolina; and 17 grandchildren, two step-grandsons and 17 great-grandchildren.

Johannes van Paradijs
Johannes van Paradijs, 53, of Huntsville died Tuesday at an Amsterdam, the Netherlands, hospital. The funeral will be Friday in Amsterdam.
Dr. Paradijs was a scholar in astrophysics at UAH and split his time between Huntsville and Amsterdam. He was a professor of Astronomy at the University of Amsterdam. In Huntsville, he worked with graduate students and collaborated with the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory team in the Space Sciences Lab at Marshall Space Flight Center. He shared the 1998 Bruno Rossi Prize presented by the American Astronomical Society for his role in the finding of the first optical counterpart to a gamma ray burst. He published more than 300 scientific papers.
Visitation will be Thursday in Amsterdam.

Frances G. Williams
MADISON - Frances G. Williams, 76, died Monday in Las Vegas. The funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at St. John's Catholic Church with Monsignor Michael Sexton officiating.
Mrs. Williams was a member of the church. She earned a master's degree in English literature and had lived in Huntsville since 1950.
Survivors include one son, Harry S. Williams Jr. of Las Vegas; one daughter, Sylvia Petrella of Madison; and two granddaughters, Larissa Maynard of Huntsville and Marian Williams of Las Vegas.

Martha E. Wood
GUNTERSVILLE - Martha Elizabeth Wood, 71, of 345-D Hill Ave., died Monday at a Huntsville hospital. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Carr Funeral Home in Guntersville.
Burial will be in Marshall Memorial Garden.
Survivors include her husband, George Wood; two daughters, Carla Bentley of Kentucky and Kay Upton of Albertville; three sons, Larry Wood of Grant, Tommy Wood of Birmingham and Charles W. Wood of Albertville; four sisters, Mildred Hancock and Lorene McClendon, both of Scottsboro, Bess Lehman of Chattanooga and Sybil Holman of Muscle Shoals; one brother, Jimmy Mayhall of Florida; and 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mary A. Collier
Evangelist Mary Ann Collier, 77, of Huntsville died Wednesday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Pentecostal Lighthouse with Bishop Johnny Burrell officiating.
Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens with Nelms Memorial Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include her husband, Bishop Albrown Collier of Huntsville; one daughter, Brenda T. Collier of Miami, Fla.; one sister, Willie Mae Echols of Huntsville; one brother, Milton Collier of Huntsville; and eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Thelma B. Cothren
Thelma Beatrice Cothren, 82, of Huntsville died Tuesday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel.
Burial will be in Byrd Cemetery.
Mrs. Cothren was a lifelong Madison County resident, retired from the food service department at Huntsville Hospital after working there 15 years. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda Collier.
Survivors include one daughter, Jean Whitt of Hazel Green ; four sons, Wiley Glover of Woodville, Carlton Glover and Ellis Glover, both of Gurley, and James Glover of Costa Mesa, Calif.; one sister, Lorene Pinkston of Owens Cross Roads; and 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Nix Dickey
FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. - Nix Dickey, 76, of 41 Eastwood Drive died Tuesday at a Tullahoma, Tenn., hospital. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Kirk Smith officiating.
Burial will be in Clay Cemetery in Princeton, Tenn.
Mr. Dickey was a native of Lincoln County, Tenn., an Air Force veteran and a member of Kelso Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by two sons, Perry Dickey and Michael Dickey.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Putman Dickey of Fayetteville; one daughter, Cathy Hollis of Fayetteville; one son, Chris Dickey of Huntsville; two sisters, Era Dickey and Ruby Knies, both of Fayetteville; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Coy Hopper
BOAZ - Coy Hopper, 85, of Boaz died Tuesday at a Crossville nursing home. The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Whitesville Baptist Church.
Burial will be in Forrest Home Cemetery with Albertville Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include six daughters, Betty Ellis, Mary Jo Pearce and Corene Gregory, all of Boaz, Florene Sams of Jacksonville, Barbara Russell of Tennessee and Bonnie Powell of Florida; and 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Nancy L. Hunt
AUSTELL, Ga. - Nancy Loretta Hunt, 84, of Mosley Road died Tuesday. The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Elora Cemetery.
Gallant Funeral Home of Fayetteville is in charge of burial.
Mrs. Hunt was a native of Madison County, a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Hunt.
Survivors include one daughter, Jean Hunt Campbell of Austell; one son, William Walker Hunt of Austell; one brother, Walker Waller of Huntsville; and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Joan V. Moore
CLIFTON, Tenn. - Joan Veronica Moore died Oct. 24 in Waynesboro, Tenn. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel.
Burial will be in Gurley City Cemetery.
Mrs. Moore was a native of Chicago and lived in Waynesboro 14 years. She retired after working 24 years for Eastman Kodak Co.
Survivors include three daughters, Monica Moore Dombro of Gurley, Cynthia Alice Smith of Calumet City, Ill., and Sandra Ann Bailey of Dallas; one brother, Alvin Dolinski of San Diego; one sister, Margaret Wesson of Freemont, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

David H. Popel
David Henry Popel, 50, of Huntsville died Monday. Spry Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Mr. Popel spent most his life in Huntsville and worked at Redstone Arsenal. He attended Huntsville High School and Jacksonville State University.
Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Popel Miles of Huntsville; and one brother, John G. Popel Sr. of Covington, Ohio.
Memorial donations may be made to the Honor Memorial Fund at Alabama Sheriff's Youth Ranches Inc., P.O. Box 240009, Montgomery, 36177-7655.

Julia D. Popel
PULASKI, Tenn. - Julia Diane Popel, 14, died Monday in Huntsville. The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Carr and Erwin Funeral Home.
Burial will be in New Zion Cemetery.
Miss Popel was a student at Richland High School in Giles County, Tenn., and a native of Huntsville.
Survivors include her mother, Peggy Sue of Pulaski; one brother, Patrick Popel of Pulaski, Tenn.; maternal grandparents, Frank and Anita Westfall of Ardmore, Tenn., and Karen McCloy of Pennsylvania; and paternal grandmother, Dorothy Miles of Huntsville.
Visitation will be today and Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mary L. Saint
GRANT - Mary L. Saint, 99, of 429 Parks Road died Wednesday at a Jackson County nursing home. The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Grant Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Panquin Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, A.C. Saint of Grant; and 16 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 42 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ethel L. Smoot
Ethel Lewis Smoot, 89, of Huntsville died Sunday at a local hospital. The graveside service was today at noon at First Baptist Church in Calera with the Rev. Dr. Rogers L. White officiating.
Burial will be in First Baptist Cemetery in Calera with Nelms Memorial Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Smoot was a retired teacher who taught in public and private schools. She was active in several civic and educational organizations.
Survivors include one son, Dr. Charles T. Smoot Sr. of Huntsville; two grandsons, Charles T. Smoot II of Webster, Texas, and Kenneth E. Smoot of Huntsville; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity.

Susan A. Spray

Burial will be in Royal Cemetery with Royal Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include one sister, Mary Settles of Harvest; four nieces, Irene Gilliam and Gussie M. Moore, both of Huntsville, Willie M. Matthews of Harvest and Ruby Crumsley of Detroit; and nine great-nieces and 14 great-nephews.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Nathan R. Warren
PRATTVILLE - Nathan Ray Warren, 68, died Tuesday. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Burial will be in Prattville Memory Gardens Cemetery with full military honors and with Ridout's Prattville Chapel Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Warren retired from the Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey Warren of Prattville; three sons, Stephen Warren of Atlanta and Jonathan Warren and Jeffery Warren, both of Prattville; four daughters, Debbie Benson, Cynthia VanSlochteren and Bonnie McDaniel, all of Prattville, and Pamela Waddle of Atwater, Calif.; two brothers, James Warren and Bryant Warren, both of New Hope; five sisters, Bernice McDonald, Mary Irving and Joyce Pugh, all of New Hope, Jimmie Glover of Huntsville and Vivian Sullivan of Canada; and seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
