Berdie B. Blackwood
OWENS CROSS ROADS - Berdie B. Blackwood, 86, died Monday at a Huntsville hospital. The funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at New Hope Funeral Home chapel with Bob Hutchens officiating.
Burial will be in Gipson Cemetery.
Survivors include four daughters, Berdie Ann Blackwood, Roda Mae Blackwood and Betty Jo Thurman, all of New Hope, and Charlie W. Lanier of Ridgley, Tenn.; four sons, Morel Elbert Blackwood and Donny Lanier, both of Owens Cross Roads, Billy Mack McQuiston of New Hope and James McQuiston of Benton Harbor, Mich.; one stepdaughter, Arlene Harrison of Bessemer; two stepsons, Gary Blackwood of Oklahoma and James W. Blackwood of Oneonta; and 31 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 4 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mattie L. Chance
ATLANTA - Mattie Lee Chance, 93, died Monday. The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Elam Baptist Church in Millen, Ga., with George Gravitte officiating.
Burial will be in Elam Baptist Cemetery with H.M. Patterson and Son Spring Hill Funeral Home of Atlanta in charge.
Survivors include six nieces, Helen Wells and Velma Miller, both of Atlanta, Viola Grier and Jean Poteat, both of Charlotte, N.C., Shelbie Dickerson of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Mary Gravitte of Huntsville; and one nephew, Jimmy Scarboro of Cameron, N.C.
Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

M.J. Ennis
BOAZ - M.J. ''Curly'' Ennis, 67, of 224 Mount Vernon Drive died Monday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Albertville Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Marshall Memorial Garden.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ennis; one daughter, Debbie Shadid of Boaz; two sons, Kenny Ennis and Kevin Ennis, both of Boaz; father, V.T. Ennis of Albertville; three sisters, Eloise Mitchell of Albertville, Ann McMurray of Geraldine and Polly Thompson of Missouri; two brothers, W.M. Ennis of Boaz and Paul Ennis of Albertville; and one grandchild.

Crystal N. Hale
Crystal Nichole Hale, 16, of Huntsville died Saturday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Thursday at noon at Progressive Union Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Wayne P. Snodgrass officiating.
Miss Hale was a student at J.O. Johnson High School, where she was a member of the marching band, the Spanish club and Delta Alpha Theta.
Survivors include her parents, Olivia Hale and Kenneth Hale, both of Huntsville; one brother, Kenneth Hale Jr. of Huntsville; grandparents, Dorothy and Alfred Green e of Memphis and Bertha Crutcher of Huntsville; and great-grandmother, Mary Frances Green e of Memphis.
Her body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

Houston E. Hastings
HARTSELLE - Houston Elmo Hastings, 72, died Tuesday at his home. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Valhalla Memory Gardens with the Rev. Jack Redfearn officiating.
Peck Funeral Home of Hartselle is in charge of burial.
Mr. Hastings was a native of Pecan Gap, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Smith Hastings of Hartselle; four sons, Carey Hastings of Morristown, Tenn., Phil Hastings of Decatur, Steven Hastings of Dallas, Texas, and Mark Hastings of Huntsville; one daughter, Wendy Wion of Piqua, Ohio; and 13 grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Birl K. Holsonback
ALBERTVILLE - Birl Kermit Holsonback, 80, of 166 Holsonback Road died Monday in a local hospital. The funeral was today at 11 a.m. at Albertville Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Burial was in Marshall Memorial Garden.
Survivors include his wife, Audra Holsonback; one son, James Holsonback of Albertville; one sister, Gladys Brothers of Albertville; and two grandchildren.

James F. Isbell
HAZEL GREEN - James Franklin Isbell, 99, of Isbell Road died Tuesday at his home. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Gallant Funeral Home chapel in Hazel Green with the Rev. James Rolison officiating.
Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Isbell was a native of Madison County, a member of Oakley Missionary Baptist Church and a retired farmer.
Survivors include one son, Dee Isbell of Hazel Green ; two daughters, Ethel "Trix" Williamson Joyce of Hazel Green and Katherine Guffey of Skyline; one stepdaughter, Annie Mae Satterfield of New Market; and 21 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Polly Long
SCOTTSBORO - Polly Long, 72, died Tuesday at her home. The funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick Stevens officiating.
Burial will be in Pinehaven Memorial Gardens in Hollywood.
Mrs. Long served as chairwoman of the Democratic Executive Committee for several years.
Survivors include her husband, Sam Long; one daughter, Barbara McGuffey of Stevenson; two sons, Ricky Long and Eddie Long, both of Fackler; three brothers, J.W. Levens of Athens, Joe Ben Levens of Albertville and Garland Levens of Hartselle; and five grandchildren.
Visitation was to be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mamie P. Maples
NEW HOPE - Mamie Patterson Maples, 86, died Monday at her home. The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Cave Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Green and the Rev. Pete Brewer officiating.
Burial will be in Byrd Cemetery with New Hope Funeral Home in charge.
She was a member of the church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ann Brown of Decatur and Patricia Cosby of Adairsville, Ga.; three sons, Dewey Wayne Maples and Donald Ray Maples, both of New Hope, and Lindsey Maples of Lynchburg, Tenn.; four sisters, Dorothy Elkins, Evelyn Hopkins and Virgie Maples, all of New Hope, and Thelma Patterson of Decatur; two brothers, William Patterson of Huntsville and Ralph Patterson of New Hope; and 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Visitation was to be today from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Nellie B. McDowell
FLAT ROCK - Nellie Beatrice McDowell, 71, died Monday at a Chattanooga hospital. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson.
Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Bridgeport.
Mrs. McDowell, formerly of Orme, Tenn., was an employee of the Brock Candy Co. for 40 years.
Survivors include one son, Ernie McDowell of Trenton, Ga.; two sisters, Arlene Hennessee and Margaret Jump, both of Flat Rock; and three grandsons.
Visitation was to be today until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Woodie Mitchell Jr.
Woodie Mitchell Jr., 72, of Huntsville died Wednesday at his home. The memorial service was Tuesday at Royal Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Anthony Stewart.
Survivors include one daughter, Muriel Tuck of Huntsville; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

George C. Moats
DECATUR - George Clyde Moats, 83, died Monday. The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. J.B. Snyder officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with Masonic graveside services.
Mr. Moats was a native of Lawrence County.
Survivors include his wife, Josephine Bolling Moats of Decatur; two sons, Larry Moats and Harry Moats, both of Decatur; three daughters, Joyce Terry, Trish "Patsy" DeHart and Pam Bogle, all of Decatur; one sister, Easter Moats Terry of Moulton; and eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Albert L. Morrow
GUNTERSVILLE - Albert Lee Morrow, 70, of 794 Martin Lane died Saturday in Michigan. A graveside service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Rice Cemetery in Arab.
Adams Funeral Home of Albertville is in charge.
Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Matthews and Peggy St. Peter, both of Michigan; five sons, Billy Morrow, Jerry Morrow, William Morrow, David Morrow and Albert L. Morrow Jr., all of Michigan; one sister, Eileen Williams of Albertville; five brothers, Raymond Morrow of Arab, Harvey Morrow of Cullman, Arnie Morrow of Luverne and Charlie Morrow and Judy Morrow, both of Michigan; and 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mildred I. Murdock
GROVE OAK - Mildred Inez Murdock, 85, died Tuesday in Crossville. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Piney Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Rayford Fricks and the Rev. Dennis Mitchell officiating.
Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel of Rainsville in charge.
Survivors include three sisters, Jeannette Richey and Estelle Fricks, both of Grove Oak, and Willette Blanchett of Fort Payne; one brother, Paul Murdock of Grove Oak; and one niece and several nephews.
Visitation will be today at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Doyce B. Parker
Doyce Brooks Parker, 64, of Huntsville died Monday at her home. The graveside service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Concord Cemetery with Pastor Paul Lawler officiating.
Laughlin Service Funeral Home is in charge of burial.
Mrs. Parker was a lifelong Madison County resident and a Hazel Green High School graduate.
Survivors include two brothers, Aubrey Brooks and J.R. Brooks, both of Huntsville; one sister, Gayle Whitehair of San Antonio, Texas; and one granddaughter and 12 nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Aileen Ross
HENAGAR - Aileen Ross, 80, died Tuesday. W.T. Wilson Funeral chapel of Rainsville will announce funeral arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Kamp A. Ross Sr. of Fort Payne; one daughter, Kay Ross Carter of Dutton; one son, Kamp A. Ross Jr.; one brother, Jamie Upchurch of Texas; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Lavelle N. Smith
TRINITY - Lavelle Nelson Smith, 72, died Monday at a Huntsville hospital. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Terry officiating.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Lee E. Smith of Trinity; four sons, Rick Smith and Jay Keen, both of Decatur, Ben Smith of Trinity and Lee Keen of Dothan; eight daughters, Georgiann Evans of Anna, Texas, Carol Mitchell of Birmingham, Cindy Jones of Shreveport, La., Trisha Lewis of Falkville, Casresse Pridgeon of Old Town, Fla., Lisa Shores of Alford, Fla., Wanda McKinion of Little Rock, Miss., and Ann Williams of Dothan; his mother, Lola Smith of Collinsville, Miss.; two brothers, Billy Harold Smith and Connie Mack Smith, both of Collinsville, Miss.; and 25 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lori A. Stephens
MADISON - Lori Anne Stephens, 10, died Sunday at a Huntsville hospital. The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Madison Church of Christ with Bro. Bob Clardy officiating.
Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens with Laughlin Service Funeral Home in charge.
Miss Stephens was a 5th-grader at Monrovia Middle School and a member of the Madison Church of Christ.
Survivors include her parents, Stan and Kathy Stephens of Madison; one sister, Christi Marie Stephens of Madison; and grandparents, Ed and Janie Stephens and Charles and Jane Crane, all of Madison.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Stephens Family Trust Fund in care of Regions Bank; or to Madison Church of Christ missions.

Grace White
NEW HOPE - Grace White, 88, died Tuesday at a Huntsville hospital. The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Walnut Grove Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dale Shelton officiating.
Burial will be in Kennamer Cemetery with New Hope Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include two daughters, Erma Sue Burgess of New Hope and Martha McKinney of Rodgersville; and six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

CALHOUN, Ga. - J.B. Yarbrough, 70, of 109 Henderson Bend Road died Monday at a local hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Arab Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Burial was to be in Union Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Kimberly Howard of Georgia and Chenetta Bass of Horton; two sons, Byron Yarbrough of Tennessee and Scott Yarbrough of Georgia; seven sisters, Elizabeth Widner, Helen Williamson, Betty Black and Shirley Eubanks, all of Arab, and Ruth Widner, Lee Ethel Thomas and Brenda Bennefield, all of Georgia; five brothers, James Yarbrough, Wayne Yarbrough and Jimmy Yarbrough, all of Arab, Clinton Yarbrough of Georgia and Leamon Yarbrough of Blountsville; and 12 grandchildren.
