Dan Ballentine
ALBERTVILLE - Dan Ballentine, 64, died Wednesday at a local hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Westside Baptist Church.
Burial was to be in Hillcrest Cemetery with Carr Funeral Home of Boaz in charge.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ballentine; three sons, Bobby Ballentine, Michael Ballentine and Brian Ballentine, all of Boaz; one brother, Jimmy Ballentine of Boaz; and five grandchildren.

Carl A. Brock
CULLMAN - Carl Adrian Brock, 55, of 1628 Ridge St. died Wednesday at a Birmingham hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Moss-Service Funeral Home chapel in Cullman with Wayne Kent officiating.
Burial will be in Hamby's Chapel Cemetery in Cullman County.
Survivors include one daughter, Julie Brock Brockway of Cullman; his mother, Christine Daniel Brock of Cullman; three brothers, Sherman Brock of Madison, Bruce Brock of Eva and Bryan Brock of Guntersville; two sisters, Peggy Burden of Baileyton and Sandra Brock of Cullman; and one granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to Childhaven in Cullman.

Hazel C. Burdett
GUNTERSVILLE - Hazel C. Burdett, 76, of 2404 Mulberry St. died Wednesday in Boaz. The funeral will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Carr Funeral Home of Guntersville.
Burial was to be in Marshall Memorial Garden.
Survivors include one sister, Lenora Eubanks of Guntersville; and two brothers, Wade Burdett of Guntersville and Fred Burdett of Texas.

Tommie Carpenter
Tommie Carpenter, 93, of Huntsville died today at a local hospital. Laughlin Service Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Mrs. Carpenter was preceded in death by her husband, Bill G. Carpenter.
Survivors include one son, William Lee Carpenter of Huntsville; and four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jerome Crabtree
HENAGAR - Jerome Crabtree, 58, died Wednesday at a Fort Payne hospital. The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar with the Rev. Chris Guinn and Steve Lea officiating.
Burial will be in Mountain Home Cemetery in Henagar.
Mr. Crabtree was a member of the Druid Hills Baptist Church in Atlanta and was employed by Old Republic Insurance Company. He was preceded in death by one son, Chris Crabtree.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Crabtree; three daughters, Cindy Lusk of Acworth, Ga., Lisa Smith of Lancaster, Pa., and Lori Crittenden of Florien, La.; his mother, Mary Crabtree of Henagar; two sisters, Marcella Gann and Patsy Crow, both of Henagar; one brother, Quinten Crabtree of Henagar; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation was to be today from 3 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Nellie P. Crawford
IUKA, Miss. - Nellie P. Crawford, 95, died Wednesday. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Cutshall Funeral Home chapel in Iuka with Bros. Frank Williamson and Joe Woodruff officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Crawford; and one son, Aaron Crawford.
Survivors include three sisters, Inez Woodruff, Gladys Linton and Marie Yarbrough, all of Iuka; four granddaughters, Pat Prance of Kelso, Tenn., Naomi Anderson of Huntsville, Kathy Dismuke of New Hope and Betty Hunter of Panama City, Fla.; and eight great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dorothy Crowley
Dorothy Crowley, 74, of Huntsville died Thursday at her home. The graveside service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Twickenham Memory Gardens.
Twickenham Funeral Home South is in charge of burial.
Mrs. Crowley was a second-grade school teacher for 25 years at Mountain Gap Elementary School.
Survivors include her husband, John Crowley of Huntsville; two sons, John Crowley Jr. of St. Louis, Mo., and Kevin Crowley of Elkmont; and one daughter, LuAnn Crowley of St. Clair, Mich.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Pine Crest Estate, 582 Sheilds Road in Huntsville, 35811; or Elder Care at Trinity United Methodist Church, 607 Airport Road in Huntsville, 35802.

Timothy M. Earls
HAZEL GREEN - Timothy Michael Earls, 26, died Thursday at a Huntsville hospital. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with Don Cox officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Earls was a native of Cussetta, Ga., but spent most his life in Madison County.
Survivors include his wife, Vanessa Earls of Hazel Green ; one son, Timothy Michael Earls of Hazel Green ; his parents, Alex E. Earls Jr. and Joanne Earls, both of Hazel Green ; one brother, Jason Lee Earls of Hazel Green ; maternal grandfather, William Joseph Langford of Huntsville; paternal grandfather, Alex Earls Sr. of Madison; and several other relatives.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

John L. Fleming
John L. Fleming, 78, of Huntsville died Tuesday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Curtis Eason officiating.
Burial will be Valhalla Memory Gardens.
Mr. Fleming was a World War II Army veteran and retired from the U.S. Army Missile Command.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Fleming of Huntsville; two daughters, Heather Renfroe of Maysville and Carole Fleming of Huntsville; two sons, John R. Fleming and Howard C. Fleming, both of Illinois; one sister, Lois Shelton of Illinois; and six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Frances M. Hannah
ATHENS - Frances Mylo Hannah, 77, of 401 12th St. died Wednesday at her home. The graveside service will be today at 3 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with Hal Noble officiating.
McConnell Funeral Home is in charge of burial.
Mrs. Hannah was a bookkeeper at Rancel Furniture for many years.
Survivors include two daughters, Julie Jarrett of Bay Minette and Lynn Hodges of Decatur; one son, Wasyl Mylo of Athens; one sister, Margaret Todd of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.

William J. Johnson
FACKLER - William J. Johnson, 82, died Wednesday at his home. The funeral was to be today at 1 p.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home with the Rev. David Smith and the Rev. Howard McCallie officiating.
Burial was to be in Pinehaven Memorial Gardens in Hollywood.
Mr. Johnson was a World War II veteran and a Baptist. He was preceded in death by two sons, Howard Johnson and John Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Pearl Johnson; four daughters, Judy Phillips and Diane Johnson, both of Scottsboro, and Edna Eakins and Joyce Hambrick, both of Fackler; three sons, Bobby Johnson of Skyline and Leslie Johnson and James Johnson, both of Hollywood; one sister, Emily Robinson of Gurley; 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Arnold Mowdy of Scottsboro.

Arthur King
Arthur King, 56, of Huntsville died Monday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Nelms Memorial Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Joe Stevenson officiating.
Burial will be Meadowlawn Garden of Peace.
Survivors include two sons, Arthur King Jr. and Ryan C. King, both of Huntsville; six sisters, Ann L. Thompson, Louise Tucker, Francis Davis and Emily Boone, all of Philadelphia, Pa., and Albertha Small of Georgetown, N.C.; and one brother, Howard King of Queens, N.Y.

Sara L. Laster
Sara L. Laster, 75, of Huntsville died Thursday at a local hospital. Valhalla Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Samuel E. Laster of Huntsville and William H. Laster of Florida; one sister, Earnestine Smith of Georgia; three brothers, Red Ray, Eugene Ray and Joseph Ray, all of Georgia; and five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Raford J. Petty
ATHENS - Raford Jackson Petty, 73, of Bates Street died Wednesday at a Decatur hospital. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Dickson Funeral Home in Dickson, Tenn.
Spry Funeral Home of Athens is in charge of local arrangements.
Burial will be in Rock Church Cemetery.
Mr. Petty was an elder of Westview Church of Christ, an Air Force veteran and was with Dick Chittam Realty.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Petty; one son, Wayne Petty of Athens; one daughter, Audrey Juckett of Athens; two brothers, Mack Petty of Clinton, Tenn., and Reavis Petty of Tampa, Fla.; one sister, Carolyn Choate of Dickson; and five grandchildren.

Pearl H. Scott
Pearl Harper Scott, 80, of Huntsville died Saturday at her home. The funeral will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Blackburn Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. McKinley Jones officiating.
Burial will be in Indian Creek Cemetery with Royal Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include one stepdaughter, Pecolia Scott Smith of Huntsville; and seven nieces and three nephews.
Her body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

S.Q. Shelton
S.Q. Shelton, 69, of Huntsville died Wednesday at a Hanceville nursing home. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Flint River Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Green and the Rev. Rodney Bowling officiating.
Mr. Shelton was a native of Madison County, a Korean War Army veteran, retired from civil service and a deacon at Flint River Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ruthie "Faye" A. Shelton of Huntsville; one daughter, Anita S. Parson of Northport; two sons, Michael E. Shelton and Paul M. Shelton, both of Huntsville; five sisters, Ruth Lamb, Lorene Joiner, Fannie Lou Vann, Bessie Lindsey and Betty Jo Hall, all of Huntsville; one brother, Horace Shelton of Illinois; and two grandchildren.
His body will be at the church 30 minutes before the funeral.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Association, 3322 South Parkway in Huntsville, 35801.

Bobby W. Smith
SCOTTSBORO - Bobby ''Bubba'' William Smith, 45, died Wednesday at his home. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Rudder Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Venable officiating.
Burial was to be in Blue Springs Cove Cemetery in the Larkinsville community.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Christine Brown; his mother, Estelle Smith of Hollywood and his father, Ed Smith of Flint, Mich.; two sisters, Jerrie Ann Smith of Cold Springs, Texas, and Rose Harris of Scottsboro; and three brothers, Chris Smith of Winchester, Tenn., Eddie Smith of Rainsville, Ala., and Terry Smith of Moulton.

James E. Steffy
James Earl Steffy, 86, of Huntsville died Wednesday at his home. A memorial service will be held later at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Huntsville.
Laughlin Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel T. Steffy of Huntsville; two daughters, Terry Lynn Hansen of Madison and Lara Jo Steffy of Huntsville; two sisters, Monta Houch of Park City, Fla., and Katherine Schuyler of Lebanon, Ohio; two brothers, Herbert Steffy of Piketon, Ohio, and Frank Steffy of Russellville, Ark.; and five great-grandchildren.
