HAZEL GREEN - Richard Oscar Crutcher, 84, died Sunday at his home. Gallant Funeral Home will announce arrangements later.
Hazel Gilbert
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Hazel Gilbert, 90, of Jacksonville, Fla., died Thursday in Jacksonville. The funeral was to be today at 11 a.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Albertville.
Burial was to be in Memory Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Alletha Boling of Jacksonville; and two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Lorene M. Holder
GUNTERSVILLE - Lorene Martin Holder, 79, of 4905 Jarmon Road died Saturday at a Huntsville hospital. A graveside service was to be held today at 11 a.m. at Crestview Cemetery with Carr Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include one daughter, Ann Rollings of Guntersville; three sons, Jimmy Holder of Huntsville and Charles Holder and Fredy Holder, both of Guntersville; one sister, Ruth Davis of Crossville; three brothers, T.L. Martin of Hebron and Talmadge Martin and Robert Martin, both of Union Grove; and three grandchildren.
John H. Jared
FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. - John Henry Jared, 74, died Saturday at a Huntsville hospital. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Gallant Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Hughes officiating.
Burial will be in Riverview Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Jared was a native of Lincoln County, a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a real estate broker for Monks Realty and Auction Co.
Survivors include his wife, Carrah Riddle Jared; and three daughters, Donna Camp, Carolyn Boggs and Shirley Neece, all of Fayetteville.
Visitation will be today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
H.M. Johnson
H.M. Johnson, 73, of Huntsville died Sunday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Mark Maddox officiating.
Mr. Johnson was a native of White County, Tenn., and a lifelong resident of Madison County. He was retired from Redstone Arsenal, a World War II veteran and member of Woodland Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Johnson; one daughter, Pat Howard of Huntsville; one son, Terry W. Johnson of Huntsville; two sisters, Doris Foster and Barbara, both of Huntsville; two brothers, Donald Johnson of Huntsville and Horace Johnson of Athens; and five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Woodland Hill Bapstist Church or the American Cancer Society.
Ruth W. Jones
Ruth W. Jones, 81, of Huntsville died Sunday at a local hospital. Laughlin Service Funeral Home will announce arrangements.
Mrs. Jones was a native of Dekalb County, member of First United Methodist Church, volunteer for the American Red Cross and was active with Meals on Wheels. She was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Jones.
Survivors include one daughter, Charlotte Doyle of Huntsville; one sister, Bonnie Beatus of Birmingham; one brother, Ralph Wilson of Gadsden; and one granddaughter, Carla Doyle of Huntsville.
Joann G. Mosby
Joann Gray Mosby, 65, of Huntsville died Saturday at a local hospital. Laughlin Service Funeral Home will announce arrangements later.
Mrs. Mosby was a native of Springfield, Mo., and had lived in Huntsville since 1976.
Survivors include one son, Randy Mosby of Sebastian, Fla.; two daughters, Andrea Morard of Madison and Kim Priest of Huntsville; one brother, Jack Gray of Springfield; two sisters, Mary Jean Berry of Arkansas and Margo Walsh of Springfield; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service following at the funeral home.
Warren G. Odom
FORT PAYNE - Warren G. Odom, 79, died Friday in Snellville, Ga. The funeral was to be today at 11 a.m. at Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar.
Burial was to be in Beulah Cemetery in Fyffe.
Mr. Odom was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include two daughters, Mittie Hamrick of Stone Mountain, Ga., and Shelia Odom of Statum, Ga.; four sons, Larry Odom of Sylvania, Ala., Bobby Odom of Knoxville, Tenn., Gary Odom of Fort Payne and James Odom of Henagar; three sisters, Betty Jo Hairell and Willie Mae Kelly, both of Henagar, and Seveler Baker of Gadsden; and 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Sam B. Powe
Sam B. Powe, 72, of 2115 Villaret Drive in Huntsville died Saturday at his home. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Brindlee Mountain Baptist Church in Morgan City with the Rev. Ken Galyean officiating.
Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery with Gober Funeral Home of Arab in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Powe was a native of Choctaw County. He was a retired accountant from the U.S. Army Missile Command and was a deacon and assistant Sunday School superintendent at Brindlee Mountain Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Donna M. Powe; one daughter, Linda P. Waldrep of Aurora, Ill.; one son, David Powe of Huntsville; one brother, Earl Powe of Mobile; one sister, Ruby Lee McIlwain of Ohio; and one granddaughter, Aimee Lee Waldrep of Aurora.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church.
H. Cotton Ray
H. Cotton Ray, 59, of Huntsville died Sunday at his home. Laughlin Service Funeral Home will announce arrangements.
Dr. Ray was a graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Medicine and recently received the Silver Medal from the Alabama Chapter of Radiology. He was active with the University of Alabama School of Medicine and the Huntsville Hospital School of Radiologic Technology, serving as professor, instructor and director. Dr. Ray was involved with the Medical Association of Alabama, the Alabama Space Exhibit Commission and the Huntsville Chamber of Commerce.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Charlotte Marie Davis, and two brothers, Arthur Ray and John Arthur Ray.
Survivors include his wife, Judith Rebmann Ray; three sons, Arthur Franklin Ray II of Montgomery, Geoffrey Michael Ray of Tuscaloosa and Christian Morley Ray of Brevard, N.C.; one brother, Joe Dixon Ray of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Music Department at The Church of the Nativity.
William C. Sears
SCOTTSBORO - William C. "Buddy" Sears, 73, of 6161 Swearengin Road died Friday. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Grant Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Tim Parrish officiating.
Burial was in New Prospect Cemetery with Grant Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include his wife, June Atchley Sears of Swearengin; six daughters, Lucy Hill of Estill Springs, Tenn., Janice Scott, Diania Keller, Debbie Geckles and Crystal Sears, all of Swearengin, and Denise Acker of Guntersville; one son, Donald Sears of Colorado; one brother, Donald Frank Sears of Wisconsin; and 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Paul Sims WOODVILLE - Paul ''Red'' Sims, 65, died Sunday at a Huntsville hospital. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Scottsboro Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
Survivors include three daughters, Deborah Heard of Hazel Green, Charlcy Maples of Lacey Springs and Tammy Lynn Sims of Woodville; one son, Tim Sims of Woodville; his parents, Alonzo and Beulah S. Sims of Woodville; three sisters, Fern Smith, Martha Cooper and Mary Green, all of Scottsboro; one brother, Junior Sims of Woodville; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation was to be today until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Effie Westmoreland
PISGAH - Effie Mae Westmoreland, 84, died Saturday at a Chattanooga hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar with the Rev. Watson Williams officiating.
Burial was to be in Rosalie Cemetery.
Mrs. Westmoreland was a member of Freehill Baptist Church in Rosalie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Westmoreland; and one son, David Lamar Westmoreland.
Survivors include one daughter, Juanita Wilkey of Chattanooga; one son, Calvin Westmoreland of Pisgah; one sister, Myrtle Hasting of Prescott, Ark.; one grandson; and a special friend, Donna Soard of Section.
