Charles E. Bishop
Charles E. Bishop, 74, of Huntsville died Sunday at a local hospital. A graveside service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Huntsville Memory Gardens with Bro. Charles D. Medley officiating.
Spry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Bishop was a native of Jackson County and a lifelong resident of Madison County. He was the former owner of Bishop Chevron Service Station and a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, DeVeda M. Bishop; two daughters, Janie Lynn Bishop of Huntsville and Jeanne Marie Freeman of Destin, Fla.; one son, Edward D. Bishop of Woodbridge, Va.; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
James E. Cockrell
ANDERSON - James Edwin Cockrell, 68, of 18142 Highway 64 died Saturday at a Pulaski, Tenn., hospital. The funeral was to be today at noon at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert McCafferty officiating.
Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery with McConnell Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Cockrell was a native of Lauderdale County and a member of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his mother, Isabell Cockrell of Anderson; two sisters, Janell Warren of Elkmont and Sarah Cottrell of Athens; and three brothers, Carel Cockrell and Lavell Cockrell, both of Anderson, and Danny Cockrell of Athens.
Amanda E. Delgado
Amanda Elizabeth Delgado, infant daughter of Tracy and William Delgado of Huntsville died Thursday at a local hospital. A graveside service will be Wednesday at Valhalla Memory Gardens at 10 a.m. with Dr. Henry Pope officiating.
Valhalla Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Other survivors include one sister, Faith Marie Delgado of Huntsville; one brother, Andrew Joseph Delgado of Huntsville; grandparents, Deanna and Donald Geurkink of Huntsville and Ada Delgado of Florida.
Virgil N. Finch
DECATUR - Virgil Nolan Finch, 79, of Decatur died Saturday at his home. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Nix officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with Roselawn Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Finch was a native of Ashland. He was a member of the Beltline Church of Christ, an army veteran of World War II, and was in civil service for 34 years.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Finch of Decatur; a son, Randy Finch of Decatur; and a sister, Nellie Finch of Oxford.
Pocahontas B. Gardner
FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. - Pocahontas Brooks Gardner, 92, of 304 Lincoln Road died today at her home. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Milton Martin officiating.
Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery.
Mrs. Gardner was a native of Altha, Fla. She was a retired textile worker and a member of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include five daughters, Christine Hollingsworth of Savannah, Ga., Claire Rousseau of Leavenworth, Kan., Wynona Gibson of Fayetteville, Barbara Lusk of Panama City, Fla., and Patricia Pope of Oviedo, Fla.; and 24 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday after 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mary Guinn
NEW MARKET - Mary "Lizzie" Guinn, 92, died Sunday at a Fayetteville, Tenn., nursing home. Spry Funeral Home will announce arrangements later.
Mrs. Guinn was a native of Madison County and the oldest member of Union Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Virginia Hornbuckle of Huntsville and Pearl Blair of New Market; and six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Holly R. Hanks
SCOTTSBORO - Holly Renee Hanks, 20, died Saturday at a local hospital. The funeral was to be today at 1 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church with the Revs. Bill Venable, Mike Maynor and David Swafford officiating.
Burial was to be in Mill Creek Cemetery with Scottsboro Funeral Home in charge.
Miss Hanks was a 1990 graduate of Scottsboro High School.
Survivors include her parents, Nathan L. and Edith Peacock Hanks of Scottsboro; one sister, Sissy Hanks of Scottsboro; and two brothers, Nathan Lee Hanks Jr. of Honolulu and Keith L. Hanks of Scottsboro.
Memorial donations may be made to the Jackson County Chapter of the American Cancer Society.
Julie N. Hedrick
ALBERTVILLE - Julie Napier Hedrick, 61, of 612 Eastview Street died Saturday at a Chattanooga hospital. The funeral was to be today at noon at Mount Carmel Methodist Church in Snead.
Burial was to be in the adjoining cemetery with Albertville Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include her husband, Melvin MaGill; one daughter, Debra L. Guzman of Michigan; five sons, David Duncan of Texas, James L. Hedrick of Washington, Raymond Hedrick and Dennis Hedrick, both of Virginia, and Richard R. Hedrick of Tennessee; mother, Janie Daniels of Howellton; two sisters, Dorothy Clevenger and Kay Hawkins, both of Alabama; three brothers, Pearle Daniels of Alabama, Alfred Daniels of Michigan and Harrison Daniels of Missouri; and 11 grandchildren.
Bertie Kennamer
WOODVILLE - Bertie Kennamer, 91, died Saturday. The funeral was to be today at 10 a.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home with Butch Foster officiating.
Burial was to be in Union Cemetery.
Miss Kennamer was a member of the Woodville Church of Christ and taught in the Jackson County School System for 41 years.
Survivors include one sister, Ruby Thomas of Scottsboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Murvin J. Kimbrell
Murvin J. Kimbrell, 69, of Huntsville died Saturday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home chapel.
Lt. Col. Kimbrell was retired from the U.S. Air Force. He was the owner of and a consultant for International Safety Services and an active member of the American Society of Safety Engineers.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Dean Kimbrell; and one daughter, Jayne Ellen Kimbrell.
Survivors include his wife, Julia Kimbrell; two daughters, Jimylu Kimbrell-Cook of Birmingham and Genie Hartman of Iowa; one son, Brian S. Kimbrell of Colorado; and five grandchildren and one niece and two nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Louise M. Pogue
Louise McCormack Pogue, 100, of Huntsville died Sunday at her home. Laughlin Service Funeral Home will announce arrangements later.
Mrs. Pogue was a member of Birmingham First United Methodist Church and graduate of Birmingham Southern University. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles T. Pogue.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Louise Thrailkill of Huntsville and Jane Mitchell of Birmingham; six grandchildren, including Kathy Thrailkill and Allan Pelletier, both of Huntsville; and 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Birmingham Southern or to the church.
Ruth R. Preston
NEW MARKET - Ruth Rice Preston, 92, died Sunday at her home. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dwight Everett officiating. Burial will be in Rice Cemetery.
Mrs. Preston was a lifelong resident of Madison County and a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd E. Preston.
Survivors include two daughters, Jean Hambic of New Market and Mavis Chicola of Picayune, Miss.; and seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
