Andrew J. Berzett

ATHENS - Andrew Jackson ''Jack Berzett, 77, died Sunday at his home. A graveside service was Tuesday at Athens City Cemetery with Calvin Inman officiating and McConnell Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Berzett was a native of Limestone County, a self-employed cement contractor and a 1942 graduate of Athens High School.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Berzett; one daughter, Jackie B. Johnson of Athens; one brother, Harold Berzett of Ardmore, Tenn.; and one grandchild.

Annabelle Bloom

Annabelle R. Koger Bloom, 86, died Monday in Brownsboro. The funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. John Revis officiating.

Burial will be in Moore Memorial Cemetery in Huntland, Tenn.

Mrs. Bloom was a native of Calumet, Okla., and had lived in Huntsville the past 20 years. She was a member of Seventh-Day Baptist Church in Paint Rock. Mrs. Bloom was preceded in death by her husband, Hershell B. Koger.

Survivors include one son, H. Wayne Koger of Brownsboro; one sister, Marie R. Flynn of Springfield, Mo.; three grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m.

Memorial donations may be sent to the Huntsville Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped.

Anna Burdette

ARDMORE, Tenn. - Anna Burdette, 86, of Huntsville died Saturday at an Ardmore nursing home. The graveside service will be today at 1 p.m. at Holly Pond Cemetery in Scottsboro with Bro. Billy Loveday officiating.

Spry Funeral Home will be in charge.

Mrs. Burdette was a Colorado native and a retiree from Mullins restaurant.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be today from 10 to 11 a.m.

Vera G. Burch

Vera Gracey Burch, 100, of Huntsville died Monday at a local hospital. A memorial service will be announced by Valhalla Funeral Home.

A private Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Burch was a retired Seattle business owner before moving to Huntsville. She had also lived in Fort Lauderdale where she was a hospital volunteer coordinator and in Detroit where she taught piano. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Chester W. Gracey and Carl E. Burch.

Survivors include two daughters, Frances Rahn Campbell of Huntsville and Marjorie Ellen Clefton of Jensen Beach, Fla.; two granddaughters, Karen Sue Clefton and Leslie Anne Gaidjunes; and two great-granddaughters, Camille Clefton and Lee Anne Bittler.

Thomas J. Clifton

RAINSVILLE - Thomas J. Clifton, 67, died Monday at his home. The funeral was to be today at 3:30 p.m. at Nazareth Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Graham and the Rev. Nolan Ford officiating.

Burial was to be in Mountain View Memory Gardens with Rainsville Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Nina Faye Clifton; two daughters, Barbara Richey of Prattville and Sheila Long of Trussville; one sister, Myrtice Hicks of Rainsville; two brothers, Calvin Clifton and Harvey Clifton, both of Rainsville; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Marjorie Crane

LEWISBURG, Tenn. - Marjorie Crane, 80, of 345 Franklin Ave. died Monday at a Lewisburg nursing home. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at McCauley Funeral Home in Petersburg with the Rev. Aubrey Knois officiating.

Mrs. Crane was a Lincoln County native, a homemaker and a member of the Baptist church.

Survivors include one son and one daughter-in-law, Bennie F. Wells and Linda A. Wells, both of Castalian Springs, Tenn.; and two sisters, Ruby Gammill of Shelbyville and Martha Dobson of San Jose, Calif.

Visitation will be today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Petersburg chapel of the funeral home.

Merle Emerson

Dr. Merle T. Emerson, 67, of Huntsville died Monday at a local hospital. The funeral will be announced by Laughlin Service Funeral Home.

Dr. Emerson was born in Spokane, Wash., and received a doctorate in chemistry from the University of Washington. He taught at Wayne State University, Florida State University and the University of Alabama in Huntsville where he retired after 26 years of teaching there.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Emerson; one daughter, Pamela Ruth Emerson of Huntsville; one son, Paule Merle Emerson; and two sisters, Sara Emerson and Mariedyth Emerson, both of Spokane.

Visitation will be Thursday at Laughlin from 4 to 7 p.m.

Memorial donations may be sent to the American Lung Association, the American Diabetes Association or Trinity Presbyterian Church.

Harlon R. Johnson

BOAZ - Harlon Reginald Johnson, 69, of 12160 U.S. 431 South died Monday at a Birmingham hospital. The funeral will be Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Carr Funeral Home in Boaz.

Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery.

Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by one daughter, Delia L. Johnson.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Johnson; three daughters, Donna L. Johnson of Boaz, Debra L. Gregg of Georgia and Deanne L. Gilbert of Gardendale; one son, Stephen W. Johnson of Boaz; three sisters, Bonnie Brewster and Judy Hays, both of Boaz, and Sue Upchurch of Tennessee; five brothers, Ted Johnson, Dixie Johnson and Autry Johnson, all of Boaz, Larry Johnson of Piedmont and Jim Johnson of Nebraska; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Robert Jordan Sr.

GUNTERSVILLE - Robert Lee Jordan Sr., 74, of Guntersville died Monday at a Huntsville hospital. The funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Laughlin Service Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dean E. Moore officiating.

Burial will be in Fowlkes Cemetery.

Mr. Jordan was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Ann McMurtrie.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Williams of Arizona and Helen Brummett of North Carolina; one son, Robert L. Jordan Jr. of Albertville; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Carlus P. Page

SCOTTSBORO - Carlus P. Page, 87, died Monday at his home. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Rudder Funeral Home with Johnny Mack Young officiating.

Burial was to be in Pinehaven Memorial Gardens in Hollywood.

Mr. Page, a native of Woodville, Ala., was a consultant genealogist and Jackson Countys honorary historian, a position to which he was appointed by the Jackson County Commission. He wrote a weekly column on his genealogical research in the Scottsboro Daily Sentinel.

Mr. Page was a former Boy Scout leader and a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. He was former president of the Tennessee Valley Authoritys Retiree Association and former campaign manager of the Jackson County United Givers Fund.

He as a member of Broad Street Church of Christ in Scottsboro, Scottsboro Masonic Lodge, Shriners Cahaba Temple, Sons of the American Revolution and American Legion. He was a World War II Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Elberta Clark Page; one brother, Robert Leo Page Sr. of Brewton; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

James Dallas Peters

ELKMONT - James Dallas Peters, 77, died Tuesday at an Athens hospital. The funeral will be announced by Spry Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia ''Jennie Peters; one daughter, Belinda Lee Peters of Madison; one sister, Betty Carpenter of Elkmont; and two brothers, O.V. Peters of Martinsburg, W. Va., and Jack E. Peters of Jefferson, Texas.

Freeda Pressnell

ATHENS - Freeda Mae Pressnell, 72, of 218 South Hines St. died Monday at an Athens hospital. The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Keenum and the Rev. Calvin Inman officiating.

Burial will be in Bottom Cemetery.

Mrs. Pressnell was a member of Sardis Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence Pressnell; one son, Randy Pressnell of Athens; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

James Reynolds

GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. - James Reynolds, 69, died Monday. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Gober Funeral Home in Arab.

Burial was to be in New Brashiers Chapel Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Elzie Mae Reynolds; two sons, Larry Reynolds of Tennessee and Ronald Reynolds of Birmingham; three sisters, Irene Pool, Agnes Johnson and Helen Allen; two brothers, Billy Reynolds and Donald Reynolds; and five grandchildren.

Vera E. Rush

ALBERTVILLE - Vera Ernestine Forrester Rush, 74, of 1013 Nelson Road died Monday at her home. A graveside service was to be today at 11 a.m. at Mount Carmel Cemetery with Carr Funeral Home of Guntersville directing.

Survivors include three daughters, Joy McCollum of Albertville, Karen Noblitt of Guntersville and Janet Roblee of Rogersville; one son, Douglas Rush of Prattville; one brother, Bill Forrester of Guntersville; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Winifred Watters

FLORENCE, Ky. - Winifred Harriet Watters, 84, of Huntsville died Sunday at a Kentucky hospital. The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Joe Estes officiating.

Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Watters was a Pittsburgh native and had lived in Huntsville since 1957.

Survivors include one daughter, Jennie Hendrix of Union, Ky.; two sons, Harry H. Watters of Huntsville and Gregory P. Watters of Middletown, Md.; two sisters, Delores Hepburn and Lou Ella Shearer, both of Hyde Park, Pa.; one brother, Floyd Alber of Marienville, Pa.; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association in Huntsville.

Marguerite Wilson

Marguerite Wilson of Huntsville died Monday at her home. The graveside service will be today at 1 p.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery with the Rev. David Jones officiating.

Laughlin Service Funeral Home will be in charge.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may be made to the Huntsville-Madison County Senior Center.
