Cary S. Buchanan
NEW MARKET - Cary Scot Buchanan, 43, died Monday at a local hospital. A graveside service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Valhalla Memory Gardens with the Rev. Jim Nunez officiating.
Valhalla Funeral Home will be in charge of burial.
Mr. Buchanan was a self-employed builder and contractor.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie Buchanan of New Market; one daughter, Emily Buchanan of New Market; one son, Justin Buchanan of New Market; his parents, Thomas and Marlene Buchanan of Huntsville; one sister, Susie Buchanan of Huntsville; three brothers, Thomas T. Buchanan of New Market and Ted J. Buchanan and Drew A. Buchanan, both of Huntsville; and his grandparents, Lester and Artis Buchanan of Naples, Fla.
Visitation will be Thursday from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
James E. Burks
BALTIMORE, Md. - James Eldridge Burks formerly of Decatur died Friday at his home. The funeral will be Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Vaughn C. Green Funeral Home in Baltimore.
Burial will be in Baltimore National Cemetery.
Mr. Burks was a 1952 graduate of Alabama State University. He fought in the U.S. Army during World War II and served a tour of duty in Sydney, Australia. He was the first black to serve as equal employment specialist in the public relations department at Baltimore Gas and Electric Co.
Survivors include two daughters, Andrea Benbow and Veronica Burks, both of Baltimore; one son, Ricardo Burks of Baltimore; two brothers, Cecil Burks and Edward Burks, both of Cleveland, Ohio; seven sisters, Wilma Brandon of Huntsville, Nettie B. Wynn, Anne B. Edmonds and Mattie Burks, all of Decatur, Margaret B. Ruffin of New Orleans and Doris B. Curry and Evelyn B. Robinson, both of Akron, Ohio; and 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 11 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
David F. Caldwell
LOS ANGELES - David Fraser Caldwell, 33, died Saturday at his home. Laughlin Service Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Mr. Caldwell was a 1982 Huntsville High School graduate and a member of the Church of the Nativity.
Survivors include his mother, Helen Muir Fraser of Huntsville; his father, Charles Alton Caldwell Sr. of Huntsville; and one brother, John Brooks Caldwell of Los Angeles.
Memorial donations may be made to Episcopal Camp McDowell or to United Cerebral Palsy.
Adiline Collier
DECATUR - Adiline Collier died Tuesday at a local hospital. Sharpley Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Mildred Driggers
IUKA, Miss. - Mildred Driggers, 70, died Tuesday at an Iuka hospital. The funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Fifth Street Baptist Church in Iuka with Brother Bill Hobson officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Gilead Cemetery with Cutshall Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Driggers was a member of Fifth Street Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Driggers.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Branson of Madison and Brenda Carson of Iuka, and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Martha Evertson
AUSTIN, Texas - Martha Alice Pace "Peggy" Evertson, 87, died Monday in Austin. The graveside service will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Cedar Groves Cemetery in Lebanon, Tenn.
Mrs. Evertson was a native of Jackson County and a registered nurse. She was preceded in death by her husband, George B. Evertson.
Survivors include one son, George J. Evertson of Austin; one daughter, Emily Colquitt of The Woodlands, Texas; one brother, Burns Pace; three sisters, Berith Graves, Violet Cockrill and Juanita Johnson; and five grandsons.
Visitation will be Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Partlow Funeral Chapel in Lebanon.
Lucille R. Hofmann
SALT LAKE CITY - Lucille Richardson Hofmann, 78, died Saturday at a Salt Lake City hospital. The funeral was to be today at 11 a.m. Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary in Salt Lake City.
Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Salt Lake City.
Mrs. Hofmann was a native of Jacksboro, Tenn., and was a graduate of Wesleyan College in Tennessee and Wayne State University in Detroit. She was an elementary school teacher for more that 50 years and had taught in Tennessee, Michigan and Utah before she retired in 1989.
Survivors include her husband, Helmut Hofmann of Salt Lake City; one daughter, Laurie Ann Hofmann of Salt Lake City; one son, Richard Michael Banish of Huntsville; and two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Mary E. Karabinos
Mary Elizabeth Karabinos, 62, of Huntsville died Tuesday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Timothy Burns and Bishop Richard Allegood officiating.
Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Karabinos was a native of Walker, and had lived in Madison County for 38 years. She was a senior buyer of UDS-Motorola.
Survivors include her husband, Andrew R. Karabinos of Huntsville; one son, Randy Palmer of Huntsville; one daughter, Cynthia Hunt of Huntsville; three stepsons, Andy Karabinos of Dallas, Tenn., David Karabinos of Huntsville and Chris Karabinos of Alpharetta, Ga.; three stepdaughters, Therese Mulder of Huntsville, Tanya Craven of Cullman, and Leslie Karabinos of Woodstock, Ga.; her mother, Billie Tidwell of Dora; one sister, Catherine Henson of Adger; and 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be today from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Leon W. Keith
Leon Wilson Keith, 78, of Huntsville died Tuesday at his home. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Ridouts East Chapel funeral home in Birmingham.
Burial will be in Jefferson Memory Gardens in Birmingham with Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville in charge.
Mr. Keith was a native of St. Clair County and was a World War II veteran. He was retired from Chrysler Corp. and was a member of Central Baptist Church in Argo. He was preceded in death by one son, Carlton R. Keith.
Survivors include his wife, Daisy Keith of Huntsville; three sisters, Betty Lovelady and Elizabeth Blocker, both of Trussville, and Edith Horn of Pensacola; three brothers, Carsen Keith of Mobile, Floyd Keith of Birmingham and Rudolph Keith of Detroit, Mich.; and four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home.

Janice M. Locker
HAZEL GREEN - Janice Marie Locker, 40, of West Limestone Road died Tuesday at her home. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Gallant Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Benny Berry officiating.
Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery.
Mrs. Locker, a native of Franklin County, Tenn., was a housewife and a member of the Baptist church.
Survivors include her husband, Ronnie Locker of Hazel Green ; three daughters, Tosha Hughes of Huntsville, Bridget Hobbs of New Hope and Cotesia Hughes of Hazel Green ; one son, Jonathan Buchanan of Hazel Green ; her mother, Aline Wilkerson of Hazel Green ; one sister, Deborah Moss of New Hope; and three grandchildren.

Carol J. Lovell
ELKMONT - Carol Joan Lovell, 58, of 20841 Harris Loop died Tuesday at her home. The funeral will be Thursday at 9 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Bob Waldron and Sam Bynum officiating.
Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Lovell was a member of Eastside Church of Christ. She was a graduate of Athens State College and was a teacher at Athens Bible School for 2 years and in Limestone County Schools for 13 years.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Lovell of Athens; four sons, Tony Lovell of Elkmont and Eric Lovell, Greg Lovell and Brad Lovell, all of Athens; two daughters, Crystal Murray of Elkmont and Lana Rigsby of Athens; her mother, Etta Brackeen of Athens; five brothers, Glenn Brackeen, Wayne "Bud" Brackeen and Keith Brackeen, all of Athens, Phillip Brackeen of Washington, Ill., and Nathan Brackeen of Wilsonville; four sisters, Elna Toone, Yu-Vawn Blakely, Cornelia Pepper and Cletis Brooks, all of Athens; and five grandchildren.
Visitation was to be today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Martha S. Marshall
Martha Slater Marshall, 63, of Huntsville died Tuesday at a local hospital. The graveside service will be Thursday at noon at Maple Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Tony Gunter officiating and Laughlin Service Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Marshall was a homemaker and a former schoolteacher in Georgia. She earned a degree in elementary education from Jacksonville State University. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas N. Marshall.
Survivors include one son, Michael Marshall of Huntsville; one daughter, Betsy Marshall of Huntsville; three sisters, Madge Fox of Menlo, Ga., Dot Gilley of Summerville, Ga., and Margaret Elrod of Cairo, Ga.; and one grandson.
Visitation will be Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Etta Robinson
DECATUR - Etta Robinson, 78, died Sunday at a Decatur hospital. Sharpley Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
William E. Seay
BOAZ - William Earl Seay, 10-week-old son of Thomas and Beverly Seay of 1496 Mount Hebron Road, died Sunday at his home. A graveside service was to be today at 2 p.m. at Friendship Cemetery.
Albertville Memorial Chapel Funeral Home will be in charge of burial.
Other survivors include one brother, Brian Seay of Boaz; his grandparents, Gerald and Virginia Seay and Brenda Henderson, all of Boaz, and William and Claire Donaldson of Georgia; and his great-grandparents, the Rev. L.B. Plunkett and Ruby Seay, both of Boaz, and Sol and Rubye Donaldson of Georgia.
Ted Smith
Ted Smith, 59, of Huntsville died Wednesday at his home. Laughlin Service Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Mr. Smith, a native of Clark County, moved to Huntsville in 1979 after he retired from the U.S. Air Force. Then he worked as a logistics engineer for the Raytheon Service Co. He was also an active member of Latham United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Pruitt Smith of Huntsville; one daughter, Martha Bryan of Huntsville; two sons, Steve Smith and Mark Smith, both of Huntsville; his mother, Willie Grey Smith of Jackson; one brother, Glen Smith of Jackson; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
