Redus N. Ball
ATHENS - Redus N. Ball, 78, of Elk River Mills Road died Saturday at a Haleyville hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral home with Randall Hammock and Don Osborne officiating.
Burial was to be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Ball was a native of Limestone County, a member of the ONeal Church of Christ and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Gatlin Ball.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Holt of Fayetteville, Tenn.; two sons, Eddie Ball of Haleyville and James Ball of Athens; one sister, Lydia Gatlin of Athens; two brothers, Otto Ball and Leroy Ball, both of Athens; and six grandchildren.
Dorothy R. Boldin
FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. - Dorothy Ruth Boldin, 80, of Oak Drive died Sunday at her home. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Gallant Funeral Home with the Rev. Edward Lee officiating.
Burial will be in Blanche Cemetery.
Mrs. Boldin was a Lincoln County native, a homemaker and a member of the Cash Point Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Altie Hugh Boldin.
Survivors include one son, Glen Boldin of Fayetteville; two daughters, Ruth Jones and Levan Slayton, both of Fayetteville; one brother, W.B. Ashby of Fayetteville; two sisters, Gladys Pool and Purmie Sumners, both of Fayetteville; and six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation was to be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Robert W. Daly
ELKMONT - Robert William Daly, 78, of 18206 Cave Branch Road died Saturday at his home. The funeral was to be today at 11 a.m. at Taylor-Ardmore Funeral Home in Ardmore, Ala., with Brother Bobby Ogles officiating.
Burial will be in Daly Cemetery in Prospect, Tenn.
Mr. Daly was preceded in death by one son, Harold Douglas Daly.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Daly of Elkmont; two sons, Donald Ray Daly of Columbia, Tenn., and Roger Dale Daly of Veto; one daughter, Brenda K. Johnson of Athens; one sister, Georgia Appleton of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; and seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Louise Gant
FYFFE - Louise Gant, 68, died Sunday at her home. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel in Rainsville with the Rev. Lee Earl Thompson officiating.
Burial will be in Gant Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Otis Gant of Fyffe; one daughter, Ann Gant of Fyffe; one sister, Peggy Owens of Rock Face, Ga.; four brothers, Herschell Holt, Cam Holt and Larry Holt, all of Section, and Coy Holt of Scottsboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Dewey R. Garren
PISGAH - Dewey Russell Garren, 75, died Sunday at his home. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar with Elders Doyce White and Ricky Wilbourn officiating.
Burial will be in Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Robertson Garren; two daughters, Patricia Roberts of Escondido, Calif., and Judy Kilgore of Fort Payne; three sons, Russell Wayne Garren of Eufala, Charles Rayford Garren of Madison and Mark Anthony Garren of Fort Payne; five sisters, Bertha Rittenberry of Panola, Nellie Reeves of Trenton, Ga., Fannie Lou Sisk of East Ridge, Tenn., and Thelma Shrader and Iretha Patterson, both of Pisgah; four brothers, Edward Garren of Ozone, Tenn., Carl Garren of Plant City, Fla., Richard Garren of Soddy-Daisy, Tenn., and Roy Garren of Ider; and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation is today until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Jackson E. Hurst
Retired Air Force Master Sgt. Jackson E. Hurst, 74, of Huntsville died Wednesday in Houston. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home with the Revs. Bernard Ansorge and Lee Jenkins officiating.
Entombment will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
A 20-year veteran, Hurst joined the Navy in December 1941. He left that branch of the military as a petty officer second class. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in December 1946.
He was severely wounded during the Battle for Iwo Jima and spent almost a year in Navy hospitals.
He spent almost half of his career overseas and retired in December 1962 at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.
During his time in service, he received the Purple Heart and many other medals. He was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans.
After retiring, he worked with veterans and their families, helping them to get their military benefits.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara R. Hurst; two daughters, Amelia Goodding of Ithaca, Neb., and Betty Dodge of New Prague, Minn.; five sons, Patrick Hurst of Huntsville, Timothy Hurst of Madison, Michael Hurst of Brooton, Minn., Frederick Hurst of Eagen, Minn., and Jackson Hurst Jr. of St. Paul, Minn.; three sisters, Martha Denson of Jacksonville, Fla., Betty Lucas of Selma and Joann Jenkins of Shreveport, La.; three brothers, Forrest Hurst of Baton Rouge and Harris Hurst and Donald Hurst, both of Gadsden; and 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to Ascension Lutheran Church or to the Childrens Hospital of Alabama.
Billy H. Kerby
HENAGAR - Billy H. Kerby, 64, died Sunday. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Kerby Funeral Home with the Revs. Tim White and Charles Mauney officiating.
Burial will be in Henagar Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Kerby; one daughter, Kimberly Hale of Henagar; one son, William R. Kerby of Henagar; his mother, Lora V. Kerby of Henagar; one sister, Ann Cordell of Henagar; one brother, Roy B. Kerby of Henagar; and five grandchildren.
Visitation was to be today until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mamie K. Kilpatrick
BAILEYTON - Mamie Kate Kilpatrick, 90, died Saturday at a Boaz hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Gober Funeral Home in Arab.
Burial was to be in New Brashiers Chapel Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Reba Dyer of Cullman; one son, H.L. Kilpatrick Jr. of Boaz; and three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Ellen L. Klein
Ellen L. Klein, 70, of Huntsville died Saturday at at Birmingham hospital. The graveside service was to be today at 3 p.m. at Huntsville Memory Gardens with Brother John Thomas officiating.
Twickenham Funeral Home is in charge of burial.
Survivors include one son, Lloyd Klein of Geneva, Ill.; one brother, Fred Swanson of Aurora, Ill.; two sisters, Rose Wiggins of Huntsville and Toni Whipkey of Imboden, Ark.; and two grandchildren.
Dorothy E. Maxwell
Dorothy Ellen Maxwell, 71, of Huntsville died Sunday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Faith Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Joel S. McGraw officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery with Laughlin Service Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Maxwell was a member of Faith Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Densford of Huntsville and Elizabeth Johnston of Memphis; one son, Gerald Campbell of Independence, Miss.; one brother, Tommy Coke of Arizona; three sisters, Evelyn Miller of Arizona, Sarah McCall of Memphis and JoAnne Hackle of Gainesville, Ga.; and seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

John F. Pence Jr.
ACWORTH, GA. - John Farmer Pence Jr., 69, of 2356 Cheatham Road died Sunday at his home. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church.
Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Albertville Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include one daughter, Sheila Jay of Georgia; one sister, Shirley Thornhill of Boaz; one brother, S.W. Pence of Boaz; and one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
Karen Vaughn
DUTTON - Karen Vaughn, 36, died Saturday. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Pleasant View Church of God in Dutton with the Revs. Jerry Waldon and Mitchell Smith officiating.
Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery in Pisgah.
Mrs. Vaughn was a member of the Pleasant View Church of God in Dutton and the National Wildlife Federation. She served in the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include her husband, Randell D. Vaughn; one daughter, Sarah Joan Vaughn of Dutton; one son, Ethan Randson Wayne Vaughn of Dutton; her parents, Herchel and Leatha Atchley of Bryant; one sister, Octavia Michele Holloway of Woodstock, Ga.; and one brother, Hal Maxim Atchley of Bryant.
Visitation will be until 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Lawrence R. Wilkins
CROSSVILLE - Lawrence Ray Wilkins, 65, of the Whitton community died Saturday at a local hospital. The funeral was to be today at 3 p.m. at W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel in Rainsville with the Rev. Roger Smalley officiating.
Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Lynne Wilkins of Crossville; one daughter, Cathy Wilkins of Garaldine; one stepdaughter, Cheryl Howell of San Jose, Calif.; five sons, Lawrence Wilkins of Fyffe, Randy J. Wilkins of Leesburg, Charles Wilkins and Danny M. Wilkins, both of Center, and Michael R.
