Morris L. Dickinson
Local businessman Morris Lee "Bud" Dickinson died Tuesday at a hospital. He was 76.
Dickinson, a native of Newton, Mass., was a longtime Mobile resident. He owned and operated Asphalt Specialists for more than 30 years.
Early in 1941, he enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force and transferred to the Royal Air Force, where he served as a tail gunner in the Sterling Bomber. He later transferred to the 8th Air Force and was promoted to 2nd lieutenant and gunnery officer. He flew 58 missions as a tail gunner on the B-17 "Flying Fortress."
During his military career, he received numerous citations and honors, including the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice R. Dickinson of Mobile; two sons, Mark C. Dickinson of Scituate, Mass., and Stephen C. Dickinson of New Ipswich, N.H.; and 13 grandchildren.
A graveside memorial service is set for 11 a.m. June 11 in North Cemetery in Lunenburg, Mass. Radney Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Irene C. Edwards
Irene Crawford Edwards a native of Meridian, Miss., and resident of Mobile, died Thursday at her home. She was 93.
Survivors include seven sons, Prince Edwards Jr., James E. Edwards, Lamar Edwards, Arthur L. Edwards, Joe Edwards, Frederick Edwards and Richard A. Edwards; five daughters, Mildred Sumlin, Marie Thomas, Gwendolyn Waters, Gloria Burton and Irene West; 48 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 6:50 p.m. Friday at Christ Temple Apostolic Church, 801 Virginia St., with a remembrance service from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The funeral is set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Entombment will be in Whispering Pines Cemetery, with Hodge's Funeral Chapel directing.

Pauline H. Havens
SEMMES - Pauline Havard Havens, a homemaker and longtime resident of Semmes, died Wednesday at a local nursing facility. She was 62.
Mrs. Havens was a Mobile native.
Survivors include her husband, Hilton "Hicky" Havens of Semmes; two sons, Terry Havens and Randall Dewayne Havens, both of Semmes; six brothers, Herman "Buster" Havard and Donald Havard, both of Semmes, Lloyd Havard of Butler, Ala., Milton Havard of Atlanta, Texas, Delton Havard of Mobile and James Havard of Citronelle; nine sisters, Isabelle Hartley, Ethel Mae Gordon, Lucille Sellers, Teresa Sellers and Mary Ann Connor, all of Semmes, Voncile Bush of Houston, Elnora Leonard of Saraland, Carolyn Walters of Jackson, Miss., and Joyce Thomas of Leakesville, Miss.; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street. Services are set for 11 a.m. Friday at Allentown Holiness Church, with visitation at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Joyner Cemetery.

Ariel M. Irby
Ariel Mone'T Irby, a resident of Mobile, died Monday at Tulane University Hospital in New Orleans. She was 1 year old.
She was christened at First Baptist Church of Baltimore Street.
Survivors include her parents, Isaac James Irby Jr. and Jennifer Foster Irby of Mobile; one brother, Isaac James Irby III of Mobile; his grandparents, John Foster and Vernell Foster, and Isaac James Irby Sr. and Hilda Berry Irby, all of Mobile; and her great-grandmothers, Mazie Booker of Mobile, and Carrie Berry Bynum of Selma.
Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home. Viewing will be after 9 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Baltimore Street, with visitation from 11:30 a.m. until the noon services.

Douglas F. Ladnier
IRVINGTON - Douglas F. Ladnier, a retired commercial fisherman, died Monday at a hospital in Jackson, Miss. He was 56.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and a lifelong resident of Mobile County.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Ladnier of Irvington; two sons, Douglas F. "Frankie" Ladnier II and Elvin Ladnier, both of Irvington; one daughter, Pamela Faubion of Irvington; his siblings, William Ladnier of Grand Bay, Bertha Orlando of New Jersey, Donald Ladnier of South Carolina, and Carolyn Wakely and Lilly Faye Steele, both of Coden, Timmy Ladnier of Pensacola and Jerry Ladnier of Newport, Va.; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Serenity Funeral Home, where services are set for 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Oddfellows Cemetery in Bayou La Batre.

Opal B. Litton
Opal Browning Litton, a native of Pontiac, Miss., and resident of Creola, died Sunday at the family residence. She was 79.
Survivors include two sons, Samuel Litton and Nelson Litton; one brother, James Browning; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services took place Wednesday, with burial in Creola Cemetery. Radney Funeral Home in Saraland handled arrangements.

Charlie E. Shaw
Charlie Earl "Piggy" Shaw, a construction worker, died Monday at the age of 46.
Shaw, a lifelong resident of Mobile, was a 1969 graduate of Mattie T. Blount High School.
Survivors include two children, Tara Powe of Austill, Ga., and Terry Cleveland Sr. of Mobile; his parents, Jack Shaw Sr. and Ozzie Shaw of Mobile; four sisters, Gloria Jean McMillian, Patricia Matthews and Debra Manora, all of Mobile, and Letha Andrews of Bremerton, Wash.; two brothers, the Rev. Jack Shaw Jr. and Kevin Shaw of Mobile; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Reese Funeral Home, followed by services at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Whispering Pines Cemetery.
