Leola A. Wiggins
Leola A. Wiggins, a member of Truevine Baptist Church, died Friday at a local hospital. She was 91.
Mrs. Wiggins, a native of Camden, Ala., resided in Mobile for many years. She was a grand matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter No. 6.
Survivors include her granddaughter, Catherine Williams of Mobile; two great-granddaughters; and a great-great-grandson.
Visitation will be Saturday at Truevine Baptist Church from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services begin, with burial at Roper Cemetery on U.S. 43 in Mount Vernon .
Christian Benevolent Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lucas W. McIlwain
WAYNESBORO, Miss. - Lucas Wendall McIlwain, who had been self-employed, died Tuesday at a hospital in Waynesboro.
McIlwain, 59, was a Mississippi native and resided in Waynesboro.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn McIlwain of Waynesboro; two sons, Keith McIlwain and Kelby Taylor, both of Waynesboro; two stepsons, Charles Hudson and Rodney Hudson, both of Gulf Shores; two daughters, Kara McIlwain of Waynesboro and Kim Lofton of Pascagoula; a stepdaughter, Shelia Touchstone of Gulf Shores; two brothers, Alex McIlwain and Rudolph McIlwain, both of Waynesboro; a sister, Elizabeth Carlisle of Waynesboro; and five grandchildren.
Services are set for 3 p.m. today at Abundant Life Church, with burial at Community Southern Methodist Cemetery.
Freeman Funeral Home of Waynesboro is in charge of arrangements.

Vera Parker East
Vera Parker East, a homemaker and longtime resident of Chickasaw, died Thursday in Mobile.
Mrs. East, 85, was a Tuscaloosa native.
Survivors include one daughter, Sylvia E. Alford of Chickasaw; three brothers, Hester Parker of Sacramento, Calif., Brady Parker of Atlanta and H.E. Parker of Monticello, Miss.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are set for noon Saturday in Mobile Memorial Gardens, with Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street in charge.

Andrew J. Mathis
Andrew Jackson Mathis, an Army veteran of World War II, died June 9 at his home. He was 79.
Mathis was a native of Mobile and resident of Chickasaw. He served in the Army for seven years.
Survivors include his nephew, Alvin Mathis; and a niece, Sarah Shelton, both of Hawkinsville, Ga.
Private military services will take place today in Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola. Gilmer's Funeral Service handled arrangements.

Jewel P. Burgess
Jewel P. Burgess, a resident of Chickasaw since 1996 and former resident of Texas, died Wednesday at a local hospital. She was 89.
Mrs. Burgess was a native of Milam, Texas, and was a former longtime resident of Arlington, Texas. She had been a member of Sandy Creek Church of Christ in Milam County, Texas.
Survivors include her husband, Claude C. Burgess of Chickasaw; one daughter, Carolyn J. McDonald of Chickasaw; one son, Kenneth W. Burgess of Arlington; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Private graveside services are scheduled today in Mobile Memorial Gardens, with Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home directing.

Imogene Cook
Imogene Cook, a retired packing technician with Scott Paper, died Monday in Turnerville, Ala. She was 54.
Mrs. Cook, a native of Leakesville, Miss., was a resident of Satsuma.
Survivors include her husband, Will Tom Cook Sr. of Satsuma; her mother, Elma Lou Dueitt of Citronelle; two daughters, Cynthia J. Pittman of Citronelle and Glenda W. Rivers of Deer Park, Ala.; one stepson, Will Tom Cook Jr. of Mobile; four brothers, Crawford Dueitt and Tom Dueitt, both of Palmdale, Calif., Orville "Bit" Dueitt of Leakesville and Roy Dueitt of Daphne; four sisters, Bonnie Dixon of Leakesville, Netta Johnson and Amy Jo Davis, both of Citronelle, and Freida Savage of Mojave, Calif.; three grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren.
Services are set for 11 a.m. today at Freeman Funeral Home in Leakesville, with burial in Mount Pisgah Cemetery.

Bertha Stokley Smith
WAYNESBORO, Miss. - Bertha Stokley Smith, a homemaker and a former Mobile resident, died Thursday at a nursing facility. She was 94.
Survivors include two sons, Herman Stokley of Mobile and Milton Stokley of Baton Rouge, La.; two daughters, Christine Phillips of Mobile and Betty Mauldin of Baker, La.; one brother, Creel Rigney of Buckatunna, Miss.; six sisters, Maggie Bradford, Louise Cochran, Polly Rester and Naomi Insand, all of Mobile, Velma McRae of Copeland, Ala., and Dorothy Mae Coley of Lynchburg, Va.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, with services at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery.
