HAVELOCK, N.C. - Adrienne Renee Newton, a native of Tacoma, Wash., and resident of Havelock, died Wednesday at a hospital in New Bern, N.C. She was 6.
She is survived by her father, Doug Newton of Havelock; her mother, Jenifer Newton of Havelock; grandparents, Peggy Ferry, Johnny Ferry, Wilma Newton and Jimmy Newton, all of Butler, Ala.; great-grandparents, Irene Ferry of Butler, Ala., Garland Newton of Fulton, Ala., and William L. Washington of Lavaca, Ala.; and great-great-grandparents, Bertie M. Brown of Butler and Osie Lee Smith of Bastrop, La.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at Bumpers Funeral Home in Butler. Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at the First Assembly of God in Butler. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Butler.

Georgia M. Sargent
GULFPORT - Georgia Marie Sargent, a native of Chunchula and resident of Gulfport, died Saturday at a local hospital.
Mrs. Sargent, 49, was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Simon Sargent of Gulfport; a daughter, Eglacia Sargent of Gulfport; two sons, Marcus Sargent and Tyrant Sargent, both of Gulfport; three sisters, Elouise Brannon of Maryland, Darlean Bryant of Mobile and Mary Lucy of Chunchula; four brothers, Larry Gable, Darryl Gable and John Gable, all of Chunchula, and Jeffery Gable of Prichard; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Starlight Baptist Church in Chunchula, followed by services at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Starlight Cemetery. Arrangements are with Reese Funeral Home.

Flonnie N. Brooks
Flonnie Naomi Brooks, a native of Fayetteville, N.C., and resident of Mobile, died Monday at a local hospital. She was 88.
Mrs. Brooks had worked as a secretary at Sears, Roebuck and Co., and was a member of Wesley Heights Methodist Church in Fayetteville.
Survivors include her son, Delbert Ray Brooks of Huntsville; her daughter, Sheila Annette Doughtie of Mobile; her brother, R.L. Champion of Sanford, N.C.; her sister, Opal Moore of Sanford; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services are set for 2 p.m. today at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, with burial in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Cornelius Brown Sr.
Cornelius T. "Paper Man" Brown Sr., who retired from Illinois Central Gulf Railroad Co. after 34 years, died Sunday at a local hospital. He was 84.
Brown, a native of Citronelle, was a resident of Mobile for 48 years. He had also worked as a newspaper carrier for 20 years in the Toulminville area.
He was a member of Christ Temple Apostolic Church.
Brown was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Lula Mae Roberts Brown; a son, Cornelius T. Brown Jr.; a daughter, Melvina James of Mobile; and 12 grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at Johnson-Allen Mortuary, and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Christ Temple Apostolic Church, 801 Virginia St. Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, with burial in the Roberts Cemetery in McIntosh, Ala.

Elnora Burrell
Elnora Virginia Pinkney Nichols Burrell, who had been employed as a cook with the Mobile County Board of Education, died Saturday at her home. She was 56.
Mrs. Burrell was a native of Escatawpa, Miss., and resident of Mobile.
She was a member of Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the deaconess board, senior usher board and the missionary department, in addition to serving as a counselor for the junior usher board.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas Burrell of Mobile; five children, Carolyn Cox, Chantel Allen and Sean Nichols, all of Mobile, Monique Nichols Turner of Linden, Ala., and Trent Nichols of Cortland, Ohio; eight stepchildren, Thomasina Martin of Detroit, Henry Burrell of Lancaster, Calif., Thomas Burrell, Shirley Burrell, Naomi Poole, Janice Stallworth and Teresa Lanier, all of Mobile, and Michael Burrell of Washington; two sisters, Deborah Smith of Jacksonville, Fla., and Mary Ann Washington of Mobile; two brothers, Daniel McWilliams and Joseph McWilliams of San Francisco; 24 grandchildren; and 12 grandchildren.
Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home. Viewing will also be after 9 a.m. Saturday at Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, 461 Texas St., with visitation from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Garden.

Joel W. Chambliss
Joel William Chambliss, who had worked for 25 years as a house painter, died Tuesday at local hospital after a brief illness. He was 61.
A native of Mobile, Chambliss was a resident of Whistler.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Chambliss of Whistler; a daughter, Alice Goodman of Whistler; two brothers, James Alkus Chambliss and Roger Dale Chambliss, both of Semmes; six sisters, Ellise Marie Mizell, Thelma Louise Childerss and Cynthia Ann Ralston, all of Chunchula, Ramona Williams of Semmes, Voncille Jeanette Buxton of Eight Mile and Beverly Sue Chambliss of Whistler; and one grandchild.
The wake is scheduled for 5 p.m. today at the family residence, 2350 Bear Fork Road. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at the home. Burial will be in Whistler Cemetery, with Gilmer's Funeral Service on Zeigler Boulevard directing.

Aaron G. Forrest Jr.
Aaron G. Forrest Jr., a retired cement company employee, died Friday at a local health care facility at the age of 97.
Forrest, a native of Calvert, Ala., was a resident of Mobile. He had worked as a truck driver with Smith Kelly Cement Co., and retired from Radcliff Cement Co.
He was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Grand Bay.
Survivors include two sons, the Rev. Grover Forrest of Seattle and Cecil Turk of Mobile; a sister, Anna Bell Ludgood of Bay Minette; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Reese Funeral Home, followed by services at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Robinson Cemetery in Stockton.
