Emanuel Gulley III
TAMPA, Fla. - Emanuel "Taddy" Gulley III, a native of St. Elmo, Ala., and resident of Tampa for nearly 20 years, died of natural causes Thursday at a hospital in Tampa. He was 45.
Gulley, a graduate of St. Elmo High School, was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was recently ordained as a deacon at Springhill Missionary Baptist Church in Tampa.
Survivors include his wife, Valerie Gulley of Tampa; four children, Sherry D. Gulley, Laverne N. Gulley, Alrecia Gulley and Emanuel Gulley IV, all of Tampa; his parents, Dorothy and Emanuel Gulley Jr. of St. Elmo; six sisters, Eva Broughton and Adrianne Rankins, both of St. Elmo, Brenda McWilliams and Deborah Broughton, both of Theodore, Carolyn Franklin of Dallas, and Sharon Campbell of Prichard; and four brothers, James Gulley, Gregory Gulley and Michael Gulley, all of St. Elmo, and George Gulley of Lynthia Springs, Ga.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Wilson Funeral Home, 3000 N. 29th St., in Tampa. Services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Springhill Missionary Baptist Church in Tampa.

Claire de la Vergne
GULF SHORES - Claire de la Vergne, a lifelong resident of New Orleans and a recent resident of Gulf Shores, died Monday, July 19, 1999, at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in Jefferson, La. She was 71 years old.
Survivors include her daughter, Katherine de la Vergne Rault of Gulf Shores; her son, Joseph Matthew Rault III of New York; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 tonight at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home in New Orleans.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at Most Holy Name of Jesus Christ Catholic Church in New Orleans, with additional visitation held at 10:30 a.m. prior to Mass. Burial will follow in Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans.

Edgar H. Anderson
Edgar H. Anderson, who retired as vice president of sales with Paterson Hardware and Supply Co., died Tuesday at a local nursing facility. He was 93.
Anderson, a Clarke County native, was a longtime Mobile resident. He spent 45 years with Paterson Hardware and Supply, which later became the Patterson Co.
He was a longtime member of Dauphin Way Baptist Church, where he served as deacon emeritus, superintendent of the adult Sunday school for many years, and a longtime usher. He had also served as a pastor's assistant, visiting members at home and at hospitals. The church honored him its "Living Legend" in 1994.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Lona Locke Anderson of Mobile; a son, E. Harmon Anderson Jr. of Mobile; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
After private graveside services, a memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. today at Dauphin Way Baptist Church. Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street is handling arrangements.

A. Edmund Carlson
Capt. A. Edmund Carlson, a retiree of Waterman Shipping Lines, died Monday at a local hospital. He was 71.
Carlson, a native of New Bedford, Mass., had lived in Mobile for the past 48 years.
He was a Merchant Marine veteran of World War II and spent his career in the Merchant Marine after the war. While with the Waterman company, he served for many years as captain of the Robert E. Lee.
After retiring, he owned and operated Grand Mariner Marina on Dog River.
He participated in local maritime and boating groups, including the Mobile Power Squadron, Master Mates and the Pilots Association.
An avid gardener, Carlson was also a member of the Mobile Daylilies Society.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Louise Neitsch Carlson; four children, Barbara Pocase, Jean Carlson, Laura Doran and Michael Carlson, all of Mobile; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 this evening at Radney-Belmany Funeral Home on Grelot Road. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Savior Catholic Church, with burial in Pine Crest Cemetery.

Ella Mae Greb
Ella Mae Patrick Greb, a member of Lott Road Methodist Church, died Wednesday at the family residence. She was 66.
Mrs. Greb, a Stockbridge, Mich., native, was a longtime Mobile resident.
Survivors include her daughter, Sara Greb Ashcraft of Wilmer; her mother, Lucille Patrick of Bad Axe, Mich.; her sister, Beverley Rice of Port Austin, Mich.; and one granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street. Services are set for 11 a.m. Friday at Lott Road Methodist Church, with viewing one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Crawford United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Lott Road Methodist Church General Fund.

Marion D. Scarcliff
Marion Douglas Scarcliff, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, died Tuesday at a local hospital. He was 71.
Scarcliff was a longtime Mobile resident.
Survivors include his children, Beverly Scarcliff Holladay, Joyce Scarcliff Day and Donald Dewayne Scarliff, all of Mobile, and Michael Douglas Scarcliff of California; a sister, Vivian Lucille Scarcliff Burns of Mobile; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. today at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street, with graveside services at 10 a.m. in Magnolia Cemetery.

Earnestine T. Shows
Earnestine Terry Shows, a native of Crystal Springs, Miss., and resident of Satsuma, died Wednesday at her home. She was 77.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Charles Earl Shows of Satsuma; four children, Linda Hancock of Eight Mile, and Jane Long, Sandra Shaper and Jean Whitman, all of Satsuma; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 this evening at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland, where services are set for 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
