Mary Alice Johnson
ORANGE BEACH - Mary Alice Johnson, a resident of Orange Beach for the past 14 years, died Saturday, July 31, 1999, at an area hospice after a lengthy battle with cancer.
She was 74 and was a native of Warren, Ill.
Mrs. Johnson formerly lived in Rockford, Ill., and Homewood, Ill.
Survivors include her husband, Gordon P. Johnson of Orange Beach; a daughter, Cynthia Bruno of Rockford; a son, Gregory Johnson of Orange Beach; two sisters, Jane Harvell and Phyllis Metropolis, both of Fort Myers, Fla.; a brother, Robert Wolfram of Warsaw, Ind.; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service is set for 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Jude's Lutheran Church in Gulf Shores. Cremation arrangements were handled by Mack Funeral Home of Robertsdale.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude's Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 1263, Gulf Shores, AL 36547.

Mary French Guthrie
GULF SHORES - Gulf Shores resident Mary Katherine French Guthrie, 91, died Saturday, July 24, 1999.
She was retired from the state of Florida.
Survivors include her husband, Ross Guthrie of Gulf Shores; two sons, Ralph W. French Jr. of Marianna, Fla., and Albert "Skip" French of Robertsdale; a stepson, Alex Guthrie of Biloxi, Miss.; two sisters, Blanche Germanette of Los Angeles and Sophia Kelley of Sumter, S.C.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Memorial services were held Saturday at Bayview Funeral Home in Foley. The Rev. Gene May officiated.
Cremation arrangements were handled by Bayview Funeral Home of Foley.

Betty L. Byrd
Betty Louise Byrd, who had worked as a sewing machine operator for Vanity Fair Mills, died Monday. She was 78.
Mrs. Byrd, a native of Monroe County, was a resident of Mobile and a member of University Baptist Church of Mobile.
Survivors include two daughters, Bobbie Archer and Cathy S. Marston, both of Mobile; two brothers, James A. Palmer and Louis E. Palmer, both of Mobile; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home in Monroeville, Ala., followed by graveside services at 1:30 p.m. in Union Cemetery in Frisco City, Ala.

Blondell W. Garrick
Blondell W. Garrick, who had worked for the Mobile Housing Board for 25 years, died Monday at a local hospital. He was 88.
Garrick, a native and resident of Mobile, was a member of First Baptist of Mobile.
Survivors include his wife, Grace Garrick of Mobile.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street. Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at DuCloux Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Ala.

Fred Jones
Fred Jones, a retiree of International Paper Co., died Tuesday at his home. He was 70.
Jones, affectionately known as "Honey" to family and friends, was a native of Marengo County and resident of Prichard.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby L. Jones of Prichard; and three sisters, Essie Dumas, Corine Crum of Mobile and Pearline Turner of Nicholsville, Ala.
Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home. The cortege will leave the funeral home at 8:30 a.m. Saturday for Antioch Baptist Church in Nicholsville, where visitation will be from noon until the 1 p.m. services. Burial will be in the churchyard cemetery.

Phil Lewis
Phil Lewis, a native and resident of Mobile, died Monday at a local hospital. He was 49.
Lewis graduated from the University of Alabama with a bachelor of science degree and was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon. He was manager of Perdido Trucking, a coach with the Catholic Youth Organization, and attended St. Ignatius Church and Ashland Place United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Lillis Lott Lewis of Mobile; two sons, D. Phillips Lewis Jr. and H. Lott Lewis of Mobile; one daughter, Mary Shannon Lewis of Mobile; his father, James Lamar Lewis Sr., his stepmother, Barbara Martin Lewis; one brother, James Lamar Lewis Jr. of Memphis, Tenn.; and stepsisters, Laura L. Martin of New York City and Marcia K. Martin of Mobile.
Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. today at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, follwed by services at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Catholic Youth Organization, P.O. Box 6955 Mobile, 36660.
Arrangements were handled by Pine Crest Funeral Home.

Evelyn K. Robinson
Evelyn Keith Robinson, who formerly worked as a sitter with the sick in their homes, died Sunday at a local hospital after an illness. She was 64.
Mrs. Robinson was a lifelong Mobilian.
Survivors include six children, Johnny L. Keith, Garry K. Grant, Joseph Keith and Vohn L. Keith Sr., all of Mobile, Sharon A. Keith of Chicago and Malcolm D. Keith of Atlanta; three sisters, Eloise Jones, Thelma K. Byrd and Betty E. Keith, all of Mobile; six brothers, Paul L. Keith of Atlanta, Lorenza Keith, Henry Keith, Alvin Keith, John Keith and Reginald Keith, all of Mobile; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her caregiver, Creola Washington.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at El Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, with services at noon. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Azalea Funeral Home directing.
