Lonnie Kyles
PRICHARD - Lonnie Kyles, who had worked as a cement finisher, died Wednesday at a local hospital. He was 63.
Kyles, who resided in Prichard, was a native of Daphne.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Kyles of Prichard; three children, Alexis McGinney, Cekita McGinney and George McGinney, all of Mobile; a stepdaughter, Shaliaheia Conner; three sisters, Diane Ellis and Elizabeth Mayes, both of High Springs, Fla., and Gloria Ann Barber of Trenton, N.J.; six brothers, William Kyles of Detroit, Johnnie Parker of Fort Worth, Texas, Theophus Hixon of Trenton, James Hixon of Long Island, N.J., Pedro Hixon of High Springs and Charles Hixon of Gainesville, Fla.; and a grandchild.
Visitation will be Wednesday at Reese Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until services begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Plateau Cemetery.

Sister Mary Placida Swann
Sister Mary Placida Swann, R.S.M., who had taught at a number of Catholic schools in Alabama and Florida, died Sunday at a local medical facility. She was 86.
The Mobile native entered the Sisters of Mercy on Sept. 8, 1930, and professed her final vows Aug. 16, 1936.
She had taught at St. Joseph's School, St. Mary's School and St. Joan of Arc School as well as schools in Selma and Apalachicola, Fla. She served as principal at St. Mary's School in Huntsville and at St. John's School in Warrington, Fla.
She is survived by her brother, George Swann of Mobile.
A Mass of Christian burial is set fort 3 p.m. today at the Convent of Mercy, with burial at Catholic Cemetery.

Mark Brown Jr.
CITRONELLE - Mark Brown Jr., who had owned Dixon Auto Supply Inc. of Mobile for more than 45 years, died Tuesday at his home. He was 88.
Brown, a native of Dixie, Miss., was a longtime resident of Citronelle.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post No. 164 in Citronelle.
Survivors include his wife, Ozella P. Brown of Citronelle; a daughter, Connie B. Parnell of Citronelle; a sister, Anne B. Keegan of Atlanta; a brother, Maxsom M. Brown of Gulfport; and a granddaughter.
A memorial service is set for 6:30 p.m. Friday at his daughter's home, 19240 First St., in Citronelle.
Arrangements are by Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street.
Memorials may be made to the building fund at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Citronelle.

Marietta B. Coleman
Marietta "Ganny" Blackmon Coleman, a resident of Mobile and Manhattan, N.Y., died Monday after a lengthy illness. She was 89.
Mrs. Coleman, a native Mobilian, was a member of Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a former organist and pianist. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her daughter, Joan Coleman Green of Mobile; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home. Viewing will also be after 9 a.m. Saturday at Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church, 451 Weinacker Ave., with visitation from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Cemetery.

Jack A. Rankin
Jack Andrew Rankin, a retiree of the Seafarers International Union, died Monday at a local hospital.
Rankin was a lifelong Mobilian.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria T. Rankin; five daughters, Sybil M. Thomas and Joyce M. Thomas, both of Mobile, Melanie Johnson of Paterson, N.J., June Gales of Montgomery and Jan Roulnac of Atlantic Beach, Fla.; three sons, Anthony W. Thomas, Thomas F. Rankin and Phillip J. Rankin, all of Mobile; a brother, Aubrey Rankin Sr.; and 24 grandchildren.
Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home and after 8:45 a.m. Saturday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 454 Charleston St. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, with the rosary at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.

William N. Nuss
PINE HILL - William Ray Nuss, former owner of Nuss Timber Co. in Pine Hill, Ala., died Monday at a nursing home in Marengo County. He was 84.
Nuss was a native of Hanceville, Ala., and a resident of Pine Hill. He was a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was on the board of directors for the Bank of Pine Hill and was a member of the West Wilcox Civitan Club.
Nuss is survived by his wife, Marie Nuss of Pine Hill; three daughters, Sandra Nuss Hamilton, Gloria Nuss Adams, and Diane Nuss Draper, all of Thomasville; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Pine Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are by O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home.

Inez E. Spencer
TEMECULA, Calif. - Inez English Spencer, a native Mobilian and resident of Temecula, died Friday at a hospital in Marietta, Calif. She was 72.
Mrs. Spencer had been a member of Mount Olive No. 1 Baptist Church in Mobile.
Survivors include her daughter, Jacqueline Nash of Temecula; two sons, Henry Spencer Jr. of Los Angeles and Gregory Spencer of Mobile; three sisters, Catherine Moody of Kansas City, Kan., Annie Ruth Bailey of Mobile and Betty Feurgeson of New Orleans; three brothers, Walter English and Leonard English, both of Mobile, and Edward English of Torrance, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home in Mobile. Viewing will also be after 9 a.m. Friday at Mount Olive No. 1 Baptist Church, 409 Lexington Ave., with visitation from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.
