George E. Ellis
George E. Ellis, a retired U.S. Coast Guard commander, died Monday in a local hospital. He was 61.
Ellis, a native of Maine, lived in Mobile since 1984.
He served as a helicopter pilot while in the Coast Guard. In addition, he had worked for WLO radio and most recently with Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
Ellis, a mason, was a disaster relief volunteer with the local chapter of the American Red Cross. Other memberships included Mobile Amateur Radio, the Experimental Aircraft Association, the Quiet Birdmen and the Ancient Order of the Pterodactyl. He was also a member of the St. Mark United Methodist Church.

Paul H. Lee
Paul Harvey Lee, a Mobile native and Jackson, Miss., resident, died Thursday. He was 42.
He is survived by his wife, Gail Lee; his mother, Katherine R. Lee of Saraland; two sisters, Sandra L. Calhoun of Saraland and Wanda L. Estes of Chickasaw; one brother, Robert E. Lee of Saraland; two half-sisters, Frances Hendrix of Theodore and Shirley McKenzie of Mexia; one half-brother, John Lee of Mexia; two stepchildren, Robin Walker of Jackson, Miss., and Richard Laton of Chickasaw; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, with entombment to follow.

Gertrude B. Manning
Gertrude Bugge Manning, a Pascagoula, Miss., native and a Mobile resident, died Saturday at her residence. She was 88.
She is survived by two sons, Haywood Manning Jr. of Mobile and Kirby Manning of Ocala, Fla.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday in the church parish hall of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Mobile, with services to follow at the chapel of St. Paul's. Burial will be in Old Springhill Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Roche-Belmany-Herrington Funeral Home in Mobile.

Darrell W. Vickers
CHUNCHULA - Darrell Wendell Vickers, a native and lifelong resident of the Mobile area, died Thursday in a local hospice. He was 61.
Vickers lived in Chunchula and was a member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local No. 119.
He is survived by his wife, Eloise Powell Vickers of Chunchula; two sons, Darrell Vickers and Tony Vickers, both of Wilmer; three daughters, Cathy Perry of Tuscaloosa, and Sherry Huckabee and Tammy Reed, both of Chunchula; one brother, Aaron Vickers; four sisters, Lorraine Pollard, Betty Taylor, Gloria Lane and Rita Williams; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland. Burial will be in Powell Cemetery.

Mary Lou Lolley
Mary Lou Lolley, a native of New Albany, Ind., and resident of Saraland, died Sunday at a local hospital. She was 63.
Mrs. Lolley was the wife of former Saraland mayor Herman Hoyt Lolley.
Survivors include her husband; her mother, Mary Fayard; a daughter, Sandra Kay Holifield; a son, Robert Allen Bell; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is Monday, Dec. 28. Services and burial are planned for Tuesday, Dec. 29. Radney Funeral Home in Saraland is handling arrangements.

Erling Berge
Erling Berge, a native of Chicago, died Sunday in a local nursing facility. He was 87.
He was retired from the U.S. Navy where he taught seamanship. He was a partner in the interior decorating business for over 40 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Ingrid Berge Carpenter; one sister, Randi Hummel of Stuart, Fla.; and one grandchild.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 tonight at Radney Funeral Home in Mobile. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the Easterling, Berge, Ison Scholarship Fund; Spring Hill Baptist Church; or Mercy Medical Center, Daphne.

Morris S. Altice
LAUREL, Md. - Morris S. Altice, a native of Mobile and resident of Laurel, died Dec. 25.
Altice, 31, was a member of the U.S. Secret Service for eight years, serving security details and guarding two vice presidents - Dan Quayle and Al Gore - and their families.
Altice was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where he served as an altar boy for several years.
He was a yearly participant of the Mobile Area Mardi Gras Association's Mammoth Parade, a member of the 1987 MAMGA court, a member of the 1985 Beaux of the Beautillion Militaire.
He is survived by his wife, Bridgette Giddens Altice; one son, Morris M. Altice Jr.; his parents, Horace and Shirley Altice of Mobile; siblings, Vanessa Altice Steadman of Maryland, Horace S. Altice of Virginia and Kirsten L. Altice of Mobile; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman G. Altice; and maternal grandmother, Mrs. Ellen Blunt.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Christian Benevolent Funeral Home.
