Claudia M. Tunstall
Claudia Mae Tunstall, a Mobile native and Prichard resident, died Tuesday at a local hospital. She was 46.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Tunstall and Debra Tunstall; a son, Frederick Tunstall; six sisters, Mary Thomas, Annie Marie McCovery, Ethel Rivers, Velma Davis, Thelma Anderson and Patricia Williams; two brothers, Duke Tunstall and Robert Lewis Tunstall; and 18 grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, with services at 11 a.m., at Reese Funeral Home. Burial will be in Plateau Cemetery.

Thomas E. Hicks
Thomas Edward Hicks, an International Paper Co. retiree, died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was 88.
A lifelong Mobile resident, Hicks had worked as a purchasing agent for the paper company before retiring after 38 years.
He was a lifetime parishioner at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Hicks had spent over 32 years as a volunteer with the Mobile Association for Retarded Citizens. He was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Lucille Hicks; a son, Patrick E. Hicks; and a sister, Alyce H. Perez, all of Mobile; and two grandsons.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street, with the rosary recited at 5 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, with burial in Catholic Cemetery.

Ruby J. Steadham
Ruby J. Steadham, a registered nurse who retired from Mobile Infirmary, died Monday at her home.
Mrs. Steadham had been a resident of Mobile since 1934.
Survivors include a son, Charles E. Steadham of Mobile; a sister, Grace M. Doddridge of Yuma, Ariz.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
There will be a procession today beginning at 1:30 p.m. from Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, with graveside services at 2 p.m. in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Palmer's Orphanage in Columbus, Miss.

Virginia L. Osterholtz
Virginia L. Osterholtz, who lived in Mobile for 43 years, died Tuesday at a local medical facility after a brief illness. She was 83.
Mrs. Osterholtz was a native of Atlanta.
Survivors include two daughters, June C. Dollar of Atlanta and Linda O. Humphrey of Mobile; two sisters, Nelle Hornsby of Atlanta and Jimmie Young of Jacksonville; four grandsons; and four great-grandsons.
Private services are planned. Radney-Belmany Funeral Home on Grelot Road is handling arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Mercy Medical of Wilmer Hall.

Darryl W. Ely
Darryl Wayne Ely, an Army veteran, died Wednesday in Mobile at the age of 42.
Ely, a lifelong Mobile resident, had been a mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service.
Survivors include his mother, Eva Bell Matthews; a daughter, Denise Buford; a brother, Roberto T. Singleton; a sister, Rose Mary Matthews; his grandmother, Theressa Matthews; and two grandchildren.
Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. today at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home. Viewing also will be after 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of God Pentecostal, 818 Telegraph Road in Prichard, with visitation at 11 a.m. and services at noon. Private burial will take place in Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola.

Sarah Lyles
MONTGOMERY - Sarah ăLyles, a former resident of Bashi in Clarke County, died Thursday at a hospital in Montgomery. She was 90.
Mrs. Lyles, a native of Campbell, Ala., was a resident of Montgomery. She was a former seamstress in the garment manufacturing business and had been active in various civic organizations.
Survivors include two sons, Tom B. Lyles of Bashi and Charles H. Lyles of Marietta, Ga.; a daughter, Frances L. Harper of Montgomery; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville, Ala. Services are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at Bashi United Methodist Church, with burial in the church cemetery in Bashi.
