Berneice Cephas
Berneice Cephas, a former Department of Human Resources employee, died Saturday at a local nursing facility. She was 70.
Ms. Cephas, a lifelong Mobilian, had worked with DHR as a caregiver for the elderly.
Survivors include three children, Frederick Cephas Sr. of Augusta, Ga., and Shirley C. Kyles and Myron D. Cephas, both of Mobile; three sisters, Irene Douglas, Lorene Young and Francis Logan, all of Mobile; and two brothers, Clanford Cephas and William Cephas, both of Mobile; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home. Viewing also will be after 9 a.m. Saturday at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 5051 Ebenezer Drive, with visitation from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery.

Daryl A. Joiner
Daryl Anthony Joiner, a self-employed auto mechanic, died Saturday in Mobile. He was 38.
Joiner was a Mobile resident and had attended Mary G. Montgomery High School.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Bennie L. Joiner and Marie Joiner of Meridian, Miss.; his mother and stepfather, Helen Manasco and Eddie Manasco Jr. of DeSoto, Miss.; three daughters, Alana Manasco of De Soto, and Allison Joiner and Kelsey Joiner, both of Mobile; two brothers, Danny L. Joiner and Gary C. Joiner, both of Mobile; and two stepbrothers, Frank B. Douglas and Christopher E. Douglas, both of Meridian.
Graveside services are set for 2 p.m. today at Mount Horeb Baptist Church Cemetery, with visitation at Mount Horeb Baptist Church from 1 p.m. until service time.
Arrangements are by Barham Funeral Home of Meridian.

Ora D. Jones
Ora Dea Jones, a former public school teacher, died Saturday at a local hospital. She was 77.
Mrs. Jones was a native and resident of Mobile.
She received her bachelor's degree from Alabama State College and her master's degree from the University of South Alabama. She also held a Christian education degree.
Mrs. Jones took part in a number of civic organizations. Her affiliations included the Girl Scouts, the YWCA "Y Teens, " and the NAACP.
She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, where she had served as a Sunday school secretary and teacher, department superintendent, usher, secretary of the Missionary Society and member of the Sunday school choir.
Survivors include a sister, Vernetta Hendrieth of Mobile; and a brother, William H. Callier of Cleveland.
Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home. Viewing also will be after 9 a.m. Saturday at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 1012 Adams St., with visitation from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services. Burial will be in Whispering Pines Cemetery.

Roscoe Tanner
TANNER WILLIAMS - Roscoe Tanner, a native and resident of Tanner Williams, died Monday at his residence. He was 80.
He was the owner of a grocery store in Tanner Williams for 22 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred B. Tanner of Tanner Williams; four sons, Dempsey T. Tanner of Escatawpa, Miss., Melvin C. Tanner, Gillary Tanner and Donnie D. Tanner of Tanner Williams; two sisters, Stella Pierce of Tanner Williams and Ruby Germany of Mobile; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street. Burial will be in Joyner Cemetery in Tanner Williams.

Debra J. Bryan
WILMER - Debra Jordan Bryan, a native Mobilian and resident of Wilmer, died Monday at the age of 20.
Survivors include her husband, Shane Bryan of Wilmer; two daughters, Lorena Renee Bryan and Hillary Anette Bryan, both of Wilmer; her parents, Allison Jones of Kushla and Robert J. Jordan of Mobile; two brothers, Robert Ryan Jordan of Mobile and Christopher Lee Jones of Kushla; a sister, Natasha Jordan of Oklahoma; paternal grandmother, Ruby Merritt of Mobile; and her maternal grandparents, Richard and Billye Hanke of Mobile.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 this evening at Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home in Semmes. Graveside services are set for 10 a.m. Friday in Valhalla Memorial Gardens.

Don Eckman
GRAND BAY - Don Eckman, a Vietnam Veteran and prisoner of war for three years, died Sunday at his residence. He was 61.
Eckman, a native of Spring Hill, La., and resident of Grand Bay, was a member of various veterans organizations.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Eckman of Grand Bay, one daughter and one brother.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Serenity Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at noon Thursday in Serenity Memorial Gardens.

Mary L. Hicks
Mary Louise "Molly" Hicks, a member of Phillips Temple AOH Church, died Saturday. She was 80.
Mrs. Hicks was a native of Camden, Ala., and a resident of Mobile.
Survivors include three children, Jesse Lee Hicks of Lake Charles, La., Rhovilus "Shane" Hicks of Minneapolis and Aurelia H. Williams of Mobile; a sister, Betty Dailey of Pensacola; three brothers Thomas McNeil of Mobile, Woodrow McNeil of Minneapolis and William Scott McNeil of Omaha, Neb.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home. Viewing will also be after 9 a.m. Saturday at Christ Temple Apostolic Church, 801 Virginia St., with visitation from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.
