Edward E. Breaux
Edward Elie Breaux, a former teacher at University Military School, died Monday at a local medical facility. He was 83. Breaux, a native of Melrodia Plantation near Thibodeaux, La., was a resident of Mobile for 49 years. At the age of 13, he joined the Brothers of the Sacred Heart as an aspirant and began his studies at St. Joseph Juniorate and Novitiate in Metuchen, N.J. After completing his studies, he entered religious life as Brother Camille Breaux in 1933, and began serving as an educator and formation master for young men seeking to become Brothers of the Sacred Heart. He taught at numerous schools, including Catholic High School in Baton Rouge, La., St. Aloysius in New Orleans, Menard High School in Alexandria, La., and Sacred Heart Juniorate in Daphne. After leaving the religious life in 1958, he began his career at UMS, where he taught math and science until 1978. Upon retirement, he tutored students in the Mobile area. He also was a parishioner and volunteer at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Among his survivors is a brother, Dr. Van Breaux of Donaldsonville, La. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 9 tonight at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street, with the rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart. Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Pius X Catholic Church on Sage Avenue. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery. Pearl Faulkner
AXIS - Pearl Faulkner, a former Prichard resident who lived in Axis, died Nov. 6 at a local nursing home. She was 95. Faulkner, a Sunflower native, was a retired employee of the Mobile County Public School System. She is survived by a sister, Ella McCall of Axis. Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Reese Funeral Home, where services will follow at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Red Hill Cemetery in Sunflower.
Juanella W. Nobles Juanella Watson Nobles, a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, died Sunday at her home. She was 61. Mrs. Nobles was a lifelong Mobilian. Among her survivors is her sister, Ethel W. Henderson of Mobile. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 605 Donald St., followed by services at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery. Arrangements are by Christian Benevolent Funeral Home.

Jesse L. Presnell
Jesse Leo Presnell, a retired teacher, died Sunday at a local hospital. He was 55. Presnell was a native and resident of Mobile. He retired from the Marengo County school system and later worked for Wal-Mart and an Allstate Insurance office. Survivors include his wife, Mary Wright Presnell; his mother, Bonnie Presnell; three daughters, Deirdre Hall of Prichard, Natasha Presnell of Montgomery and Tramekia Hawkins of Birmingham; a son, Demetrius Gardner of Tuscaloosa; a stepdaughter, Michele York; two stepsons, Gregory Overton and Clifton Overton of Atlanta; a sister, Martha Presnell of Slidell, La.; two brothers, Alvin Presnell of Mobile and Donald Presnell of Prichard; four grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, 210 W. Clark St., followed by services at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lovett's Funeral Chapel.

Ellen K. Swann
Ellen K. "Betty" Swann, a homemaker and parishioner of St. Dominic's Catholic Church, died Tuesday at a local hospital. She was 78. Mrs. Swann, a native and resident of Mobile, was a member the Pirettes Mardi Gras association. She had been a volunteer for many years at Providence Hospital. Survivors include her husband, George Swann Sr.; two sons, Frank Swann of Fairhope and George Swann Jr. of Mobile; one daughter, Theresa Mixson of Fairhope; two brothers, Robert Kossow of Mobile and Alan Kossow of Panama City, Fla.; one sister, Helen Stewart of Baton Rouge, La.; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Arrangements will be announced by Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street.

Raymond Donaldson
PONTIAC, Mich. - Raymond F. Donaldson, a retired auto worker and a former Prichard resident, died Friday at his home. He was 64. Donaldson, a native of Frankville, Ala., was a graduate of the Mobile County Training School. He lived in Pontiac for the past 32 years and retired from Pontiac Motor Co. Survivors include his wife, Marian Donaldson of Pontiac; a son, Leon Eaton of Mobile; his stepmother, Jewel Donaldson of Mobile; four brothers, Charles Donaldson and Ralph Donaldson of Pontiac, Elston Donaldson of Detroit and Terrance Donaldson of Mobile; and four sisters, Florence Benoit and Paulette Wright of New Orleans, Brenda Rogers of Willow Grove, Pa., and Emelda Moten of Channel View, Texas. Viewing will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cobb's Funeral Home in Pontiac, where services are set for 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Perry Mount Park Cemetery in Pontiac.

Thomas E. Howell
SAN DIEGO - Thomas Edward Howell, a native of Semmes, died Oct. 22 in San Diego after an extended illness. He was 86. Howell was a 1932 graduate of Murphy High School. He served as a private in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1932 to 1936. He later joined the U.S. Army. He retired from the Merchant Marine after many years of service. In addition, he had served as an officer with the Mobile Police Department from September 1940 to August 1941. Howell's family lived in the area for generations. His late grandfather, Thomas Jefferson Howell, deeded the land in Semmes on which the one-room Semmes School was built in 1902, as well as the land across the road on which the original First Baptist Church was built shortly thereafter. The church no longer exists on the site. The schoolhouse was rededicated last year and is being refurbished to serve as a museum. Plans are also under way to build a replica of the church, which was formerly called Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and renamed First Baptist Church in 1904. Survivors include his sons, Thomas Ray Howell of Mobile, Donald Stuart Howell of San Diego and Robert Eugene Howell of Los Angeles; a sister, Beatrice "Bea" Howell Gainie of Houston; and a granddaughter. Graveside services are set for 11 a.m. Friday at Allentown Cemetery in Semmes. Memorials may be made to the Mobile Genealogical Society.

Funeral services were held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 17, 1999 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Mack McDaniels officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Monty Holsonback, Matt Holsonback, Terry Joe Debrow and Joe Debrow. Active pallbearers were Beazer McMichael, Scott McMichael, Jason Bethea, Stephen Bethea, Jerrald Zoghby, Eric Bosarge, Gregory Bosarge, Josh Adams, Jamie Dodd and Ty Holsonback. Interment was in Magnolia Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were by RADNEY FUNERAL HOME, 3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile, AL.

Mr. Andy Campbell:
A native of Roan Mountain, TN and a resident of Mobile County for almost 40 years, died Wednesday, November 17, 1999 at his residence. Mr. Campbell was a Veteran of the United States Navy, serving in WWII. He retired from the Navy after 35 years of active and reserve duty. He was a member of VFW Post #49. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Colleen & Mike Phillips of Pensacola, FL; one brother, J.C. Campbell of Mobile; two sisters, Bertha C. Tatum of Mobile and Idell Henley of Johnson City, TN; two grandchildren, Scott and Nicole Phillips; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held from the graveside Friday, November 19, 1999 at 12 noon. Visitation will be Friday at Serenity Funeral Home from 11 AM until service time.
