Mrs. Vera L. Smith:
A lifelong resident of Mobile died Tuesday, November 23, 1999 at a local hospital.
Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her husband, Gorman P. "Smitty" Smith (a meat cutter for Delchamps for 30 years.)
Mrs. Smith was employed by Delchamps for a number of years.
She is survived by her children, Terry W. Smith of Mobile, Jackie S. Lisenby of Daphne and Donna L. Smith of Hendersonville, TN; brother, Rev. Larry Busby of Chicago, IL; sisters, Katherine Barnes of Mobile, Pat Bailey of Chicago, IL and Jean Buxton of Birmingham, AL; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great great grandchild, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Friday, November 26, 1999 at 2:00 PM with interment in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 AM until service time.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by MOBILE MEMORIAL GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 6040 Three Notch Road, Mobile, AL 36619.

Master Carl Jerome Able, Jr.:
A native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL, born December 22, 1991, entered to rest Friday, November 19, 1999 at a local hospital. He attended Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church. He is survived by his parents, Carl Jerome Able Sr. and Gail Denise Able; one brother, Michael Crusoe Jr .; five sisters, Sherra Dena Able, Darnell Portis, Carla (Terrell) Able-McCorvey, LaShaun (Roy) Perkins, and Crystal Able; grandparents, Ocie and Helen Hall, James & Jeanette Lee; two great grandparents, Mary A. Taylor and Lizzie Johnson; four uncles, Johnny Able Jr., Tommy Lee Able, Ronald Able, all of Mobile, AL, and Wayne Able of Birmingham, AL; four aunts, Darlene (Robbie) Pickens of Houston, TX, Glenda Able of Mobile, AL, Deloris Mack of Fayetteville, NC, and Bertha Stephens of Montgomery, AL; one great uncle, Thomas F. Hall; two great aunts, Gloria (Virgil) Bandy of Manassas Park, VA, and Mary Taylor; one nephew, Deontrez Roy Jermichael Perkins; two nieces, Kayla Marcina Vernice McCorvey and Roytisha Perkins; God-parents, Sharon Pettis and Michael Crusoe Sr.; God-sisters, Nastoshia Pettis, Shemeca Crusoe, and Shanna Corbin; one God-brother, Cedric Crusoe; three devoted friends of the family, Deborah Able, Jackie Crusoe and Lagretta Todd; devoted friends of Carl's Jessica Able; the Eighth Grade Class of Government St. and Craighead Elementary Schools; one best friend, Bernard Patterson; a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Saturday, November 27, 1999 at Hodges Funeral Chapel from 11:30 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 P.M. at the Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 860 South Warren St., Mobile, AL with Rev. W. C. McNeil, Pastor, Rev. Darryl Brooks officiating. Interment in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to HODGES FUNERAL CHAPEL, 701 Dr. M. L. King Ave, Mobile, AL 36603

Mr. Willie Armstead, Jr. (Buster Todd):
A native of Thomasville, AL and a resident of Mobile departed this life on Monday, November 22, 1999. He was a WWII Veteran. He is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Williams (Johnnie) Roberts; two sons, Carl F. White and Jonathan (Dorothy) White; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one sister, Earlie Mae (Robert) Moore from Saginaw, MI; one aunt, Dora Burroughs from Thomasville, AL; one godson, Cedric Jasper; a host of other relatives and many devoted friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 27, 1999 at Hodges Funeral Chapel from 8:30 am until the 9:30 am funeral hour with the Reverend W. Marshall Officiating. Interment in Whispering Pines Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to HODGES FUNERAL CHAPEL, 701 Dr. M. L. King Ave, Mobile, AL 36603

Mrs. Irene B. Carter:
A native of Tallahoma, TN and a resident of Mobile, AL for the past 60 years died Monday, November 22, 1999 at a local hospital. She is survived by one daughter, Ruth (Bill) Clement of Mobile, AL; two sons, Jackie R. McAfee of Mobile, AL and Wayne Dees of Mobile, AL; three grandchildren, David Young, Devin Clement and Jessica McAfee; two great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held Satur day, November 27, 1999 at 2:00pm from the Chapel of Serenity Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors Friday at the Fuenral Ho me from 5:00 until 8:00pm. Interment will take place in Serenity Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements are by SERENITY FUNERAL HOME, 8691 Old Pascagoula RD, Mobile, AL.

Mr. Billy Ralph Cole:
A native of Ruleville, MS and a resident of Mobile died Wednesday, November 24, 1999. Funeral services will be held today at 2:00 P.M. from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12 noon until service time. Interment will take place in Serenity Memorial Garden. Arrangements by SERENITY FUNERAL HOME, 8691 Old Pascagoula Rd, Mobile, AL.

Mrs. Victorine Mandeville Nelson:
Age 88. A native of Mobile, AL and a resident of Daphne, AL for over 66 years died Tuesday, November 23, 1999 at her residence. Mrs. Nelson was a member of Daphne Baptist Church. She is survived by one sister, Tillie Mae Mandeville, Daphne, AL; one son, Braxton E. (Brenda) Nelson, Pensacola, FL; three daughters, Sylvia Nelson (Ranny) Bauer, Daphne, AL, Sandra Nelson (Charles) Thompson, Fairhope, AL, Mary Lou Nelson (Harold) Yeager, Silverhill, AL; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Mandeville, Mobile, AL;, Frances Nelson, Daphne, AL; 1 brother-in-law, Jeff Nelson, Mobile, AL, 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 27, 1999 at 10 a.m. from the Daphne Chapel of Wolfe Funeral Home with Rev. Grant Barber officiating. Graveside services will follow at 12 noon at Shellbanks Cemetery, Fort Morgan Road, Shellbanks, AL. Missionary Mary Lou Adams Dixon:
Sunrise 9/23/09-Sunset 11/18/1999].
Born to Deacon James S. and Dicie Ann Adams. A native of Sweet Water, AL, resided in Utica, NY. and a resident of Mobile, AL, departed this life on Thursday, November 18, 1999. She confessed Christ at an early age. She leaves to cherish her memories, six children; Son, James (Annie Lee) Richardson of Saginaw, MI; five daughters, Farrir Wilson (Tut) and Maggie Robinson (Jackie) of Akron, Ohio, Mamie (Odell) Douglas, Lula B. (Lemon) Pearson of Utica, NY, Mary Ann Dixon Richardson, her caregiver of Mobile, AL; one brother, Deacon Jimmy (Bobbie) Adams of Mobile, AL; on e God sister, Gertrude (Leonard) Lockett of Sweet Water, AL; forty grandchildren, eighty-eight great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, church family and friends, one godson and daughter. Visitation will be held at Friendship Primitive Baptist Church, 81 9 St. Stephens Rd. from 11:00am until 1:00pm Funeral hour with Pastor Albert S. Jackson, Sr. of White Stone Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in the Gethsemane Cemetery Mobile. Services of love are entrusted to Azalea Funeral Home Co., 352 State St.

Mr. Silas Clayton Hall, Jr.:
Born August 27, 1953, departed this life on Saturday, November 20, 1999. He was a member of the Holmes Street Missionary Baptist Church and also a member of the Kings & Queens Organization. He was employed as a supervisor for ServiceMaster for a number of years. He leaves to cherish his memories, a devoted mother, Mattie Hall; one brother, Lonnie Hall; a niece, Erica Stewart; four aunts, Nonie Griffin, Bessie Bracy, Clorden (Silas) Kennedy, all of Prichard, Boydee Calhoun of Grovehill, AL; three uncles, Walter (Lela) Gilmore, Emmett (Ginger) Gilmore of Salitpa, AL, and George (Sarah) Gilmore of Prichard; godparents, Calvin (Ethel) Jones; two godchildren, Brittany M. Shoemake r and Tracy Hubbard-Fox; and a host of other relativ es and friends. Devoted friends, Calva Jones Shoemaker of Prichard and Nora Howell of Atlanta, GA. Visitation will be held at the Holmes Street Baptist Church on Saturday, November 27, 1999 from 9AM until the 11AM funeral hour, Rev. T.J. Hatcher, Pastor and Officiating Minister. Mrs. Mattie Lou Hall:
A native of Opp, AL and a resident of Mobile, AL for the past 54 years died Monday, November 22, 1999 at a local hospital. Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her husband of thirty years, Mr. Otis Hall. She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Williams of New Orleans, LA and her devoted daughter, Regina Hall Rocker of Mobile, AL; one son, Robert Ware of Chicago, IL; one brother, Leroy Johnson of Millry, AL; nine grandchildren; two devoted, Michelle Prince and Nicole Rocker; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 27, 1999 at 12:00 noon from Stone Street Baptist Church. Family will receive visitors Saturday at the Church from 11:00am until Service time. Interment will take place in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements are by SERENITY FUNERAL HOME, 8691 Old Pascagoula RD, Mobile, AL.
