Mr. J. Dickie Roberds:
Age 52. A native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL, died on Saturday, November 27, 1999 at a local hospital. Mr. Roberds loved his family and was an avid fisherman, he was C.E.O. of Roberds Broadcasting Company with local stations W.G.O.K. and W.Y.O.K. in Mobile. He was a member of Dauphinway United Methodist Church, and Coastal Conservation Association. He is survived by his wife, Theresa Ann "Terry" McAleer Roberds of Mobile; five sons, Jay Dickie Roberds II, Jake S. Roberds, Grady W. Roberds, Clayton S. Roberds, Chandler M. Roberds, all of Mobile; mother, Shirley S. Roberds of Fairhope; one brother, George W. (Judy) Roberds of Fairhope; two sisters, Shirley "Sissy" Roberds (Byrd) Moore of Fairhope, Mary Stewart (John) Stephens of Pirates Cove, AL; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held from Dauphinway United Methodist Church Chapel on Tuesday, November 30, 1999 at 10:00 A.M. The family will receive friends at the church Tuesday morning at 9:00 A.M. Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday evening at the funeral home. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery. the family request in lieu of flowers donations be made to UMS-Wright Preparatory School or St. Paul's Episcopal School. Mr. Woodrow William Thiele:
A resident of Theodore, AL, died Thursday, November 25, 1999. Funeral services will be held today at 2:00 P.M. from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home. Interment will be in Serenity Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements are by SERENITY FUNERAL HOME, 8691 Old Pascagoula RD, Mobile, AL.
Mr. Martin "Snookie" Cromer:
A native of Mobile and a resident of Citronelle died in a local hospital on Sunday, November 28, 1999. He retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Cromer; 2 sons, Danny Ray (Mary) Cromer and Ricky Alan (JoAnna) Cromer; one sister, Sara Clark Thomas; five grandchildren, Jason Neal Cromer, Steven Ray Cromer, Danielle Cromer and Kimberly Cromer; four great grandchildren, Brett Cromer, Paige Leigh Cromer, Brooke Cromer and Kyler Jean Cromer; nieces, nephews, other relatives. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 30, 1999 from 5-8PM at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 1, 1999 at 12 noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Gladys Mae Hawley Carvalho:
Age 75 of North Park Ave, Dunn, died Sunday, November 28, 1999 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. Mrs. Carvalho, a Harnett County native was the daughter of the late William Davis and Maude Collins Hawley and the widow of Dennis Carvalho. Mrs. Carvalho is also preceded in death by two brothers, Roger Hawley and William Davis Hawley, Jr. and one sister, Beulah Hawley. Mrs. Carvalho along with her husband was the owner and operators of Carvalho's Inc. Dry Cleaners in Dunn. She was a member of Westfield Baptist Church and a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class. Survivors include three sons, William D. (Buddy) & Mary Carvalho of Conyers, GA, Michael P. Carvalho of Dunn, N.C. and Chris Carvalho of Garner, N.C.; three daughters, Patricia C. & James F. West of Mobile, AL, Cheryl C. & James A. Harper of Dunn, N.C. and Kathy C. & Bill Bailey of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; two brothers, Walter Hawley of Mamers, N.C. and Joe C . Hawley, Sr. of Lillington, N.C.; one sister, Gertrude Parker of Lillington, N.C.; 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. The family received friends at Cromartie Miller and Lee Funeral Home, Monday, November 29, 1999 from 7 p.m. - 9 p .m. and other times at the home located at 1105 N. Park Ave in Dunn, NC. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 30, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at Westfield Baptist church with the Rev. Steve Pegram officiating. Age 78. A native of Opp, AL and a resident of Fairhope, AL, died Saturday, November 27, 1999 at a local hospital. Mrs. Peterson was preceded in death by two brothers, J.P Cox and Hollis Cox and one sister, Trudy Mae Cox. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ethel C. Mr. George Ollie Tew:
Age 75, a native of Millry, Alabama and a resident of Fairhope, Alabama, died Monday, November 29, 1999 at a local health care facility. Mr. Tew was an active member of First Baptist Church of Fairhope where he served as a deacon, a member of the Quail Creek Golf Association. He also served in World War II where he received a Purple Heart. He is survived by his wife, Sadie Lee Tew of Fairhope, AL; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rodger and Lee Tew of Mobile, AL and Tommy and Sherry Tew of Mobile, AL; one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Gene Hester of Mobile, AL; five brothers, Prentice A. Tew of Millry, AL, Walter C. Tew of Millry, AL, Clatis Tew of Butler, AL, Delmer Tew of Flomaton, AL and Harold Ray Tew of Millry, AL; three sisters, Maxine Brown of Atmore, AL, Annie Pearl Gant of Millry, AL and Faye Hester of Millry, AL; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
