Mr. William Vernon Portlock, Jr.:
The death angel came Friday, November 26, 1999 and bore the bright spirit of William Vernon Portlock, Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. William Vernon, Sr. and Annie Tinsley Portlock. He was joined in Holy Matrimony and is survived by, Clara Mae Jones Portlock. To this union, 4 children were born. Carolyn (Christopher) Calhoun, Mobile, AL, William Vernon, III of Capshaw, AL, Margaret Elaine (Dwayne) Hayes of Jacksonville, FL and Pamela (David) York of Mobile, AL; two grandchildren, Kimberly LaTrice and Victor DeWarren Portlock; three sisters, Mattie Love, Daisy McGadney and JoAnn Portlock all of Mobile, AL; three brothers, Robert Portlock, Emile Portlock and George (Constance) Portlock all of Mobile, AL; four aunts, Carrie Gulley of Selma, AL, Daisy Morrisette, Mary Williams and Ruth Portlock all of Mobile, AL; two uncles, Roy Portlock of Mobile, AL and James C. Williams of Amite, LA; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, devoted friends, Crystobul Allen, Leroy Williams, Martin Busky, Eddie Washington, Marcus Washington, Doretha Wolf Dockery, Robert "Jitt" Washington, Willard Washington and a host of others. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 1, 1999 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Rock of Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 1105 So. Ann St, Mobile, AL with Rev. Fleet L. Belle officiating. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to HODGES FUNERAL CHAPEL, 701 Dr. M.L. King Ave, Mobile, AL.

Mr. Carl Harold Robinson:
Funeral services were held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Monday, November 29, 1999 at 10AM. Officiated by Rev. Jim Fisher and Rev. Ranny Cockrell. Honorary pallbearers were Greg Foster, Leo Guinn, Pat Ryan, Jim Sears, Charlie Richburg, and Tommy Kitchens. Active pallbearers were Larry Ezell, Charlie Perkins, Felton Mitchell, Wayne Robinson, Chester Harden, and Jimmy Harden. Interment was in Pine Crest Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were by RADNEY FUNERAL HOME, 3155 Dauphin Street Extension, Mobile, AL.

Ret. Lt. Donald M. Warren:
A native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL died in a local hospital on Monday, November 29, 1999. Mr. Warren retired from the U.S. Coast Guard. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eunice Warren; son, Donald (Tina) Warren, II; daughter, Melanie (Dalton) Jernigan; brother, Robert E. Warren and sister, Edna Coker, all of Mobile, AL; five grandchildren, Jessica Warren, Curtis Jernigan, Amber Warren, Brian Jernigan and John Wesley Warren. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 1, 1999 at 2:00 P.M. from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 30, 1999 from 5PM until 8PM at Pine Crest Funeral Home. Rosary will be at 7P.M. Interment in Pine Crest Cemetery. Mrs. Debra Darline Taylor Aikin:
A resident of Mobile, died Sunday, November 29, 1999. Funeral services will be held today at 10AM from the Chapel of the Chimes Mausoleum in Serenity Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 9AM until service time. Funeral arrangements are by SERENITY FUNERAL HOME, 8691 Old Pascagoula Rd, Mobile, AL.

Mrs. Juanita Lee "Kitty" Atchison:
A native and lifelong resident of Mobile County, AL died Monday, November 29, 1999 at a local hospital. She was preceded in death by her mother, Naomi H. Lee and her beloved husband, Mark E. Atchison, Sr. She is survived by two daughters, Deborah (John) Chance of Theodore, AL and Lisa M. Ryan of Irvington, AL; one son, Mark E. Atchison, Jr. of Irvington, AL; one sisters, Ruth (James) Jones of Mobile, AL; one brother, Thomas (Joyce) Lee of Dauphin Island, AL; three grandchildren, Angie (Kevin) Adams of Grand Bay, AL, John (Jamie) Chance, Jr. of Theodore, AL and Alicia Ryan of Irvington, AL; her close friend and companion, Shelton Wilkins; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 1999 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with visitation from 12 noon until service time. Interment will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are by SERENITY FUNERAL HOME, 8691 Old Pascagoula Rd, Mobile, AL.

Mr. Martin "Snookie" Cromer:
A native of Mobile and a resident of Citronelle died in a local hospital on Sunday, November 28, 1999. He retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Cromer; 2 sons, Danny Ray (Mary) Cromer and Ricky Alan (JoAnna) Cromer; one sister, Sarah Clark Thomas; five grandchildren, Jason Neal Cromer, Joshua Adam Cromer, Steven Ray Cromer, Danielle Cromer and Kimberly Cromer; four great grandchildren, Brett Cromer, Paige Leigh Cromer, Brooke Cromer and Kyler Jean Cromer; nieces, nephews, other relatives. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 30, 1999 from 5-8PM at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 1, 1999 at 12 noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements are by MOBILE MEMORIAL GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 6040 Three Notch Rd, Mobile, AL 36619.

Mrs. Helen Harper:
83, of 14201 Barton Blvd, SW, Cumberland, Maryland, died Sunday, November 28, 1999, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, from complications of Alzheimer's disease. Born January 27, 1916, in Commerce, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late William (Bill) Edgar and Myrtie May (Higginbotham) Bailey. She was preceded in death by her brother Ralph W. Bailey and sister Frances B. McCree. Mrs Harper was married for 61 years, and until becoming incapacitated with Alzheimer's, was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She was an avid gardener, a community volunteer, and an active member in the United Methodist Church for years. Most recently, she was a member of Cresaptown United Methodist Church in Cumberland. Surviving is her husband, Dr. Rex S. Harper, Sr., of Cumberland, Maryland; one daughter, Sharon Elizabeth Sokol of Mobile, Alabama; two sons, Rex S. Harper, Jr., of Marietta, Georgia, and Max Christopher Harper of Savannah, Georgia; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be sent to Alzheimer's Association, (1-800-272-3900), 919 N. Michigan Av., Suite 1000, Chicago, IL 60611-1676.
