Orlando d'Fonseca
Orlando d'Fonseca, who retired from the banana industry in South America, died Wednesday at a local hospital. He was 90.
A native of Suriname in South America, d'Fonseca was a resident of Belle Fontaine.
He had been a member of a Masonic lodge in his hometown of Paramaribo, Suriname. He also had been a member of the Dutch Reformed Church of Suriname.
Survivors include his wife, Legirnem Kartoredjo d'Fonseca of Belle Fontaine; four sons, Daniel Alexander d'Fonseca and Gerard Eugene d'Fonseca, both of Hammond, La., Bruce Adrian d'Fonseca of Metairie, La., and Paul Brian d'Fonseca of Albany, La.; three daughters, Laska Jean Tacke and Cynthia Spring, both of Hammond, and Gwendolyn Shell of Mobile; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. today at Gilmer's Funeral Service on Zeigler Boulevard.

Nora S. Fantroy
Nora Sullivan Fantroy, a homemaker, died Thursday at the age of 90. Mrs. Fantroy was a native of Mount Vernon and a longtime resident of Mobile.
Survivors include a daughter, Janice M. DuBose of Mobile; a sister, Lula Carter of Prichard; two brothers, Austin Sullivan of Chicago and Henry Sullivan of Prichard; and 11 grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. today at Memorial Funeral Home in Prichard. Services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Temple AOH Church of God, 2257 St. Stephens Road, with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery.

Edward Nettles
MOUNT VERNON - Edward Nettles, a retired maintenance mechanic with Zenca Chemicals, died Wednesday at a Mobile hospital. He was 62.
Nettles was a native of Fairford, Ala., and a resident of Mount Vernon.
Survivors include five sons, Edward Nettles Jr. and Bennie Nettles, both of Mobile, Bruce Spencer Nettles of Vinegar Bend, Ala., Terry Nettles of Mount Vernon and Perry Nettles of Wagarville, Ala.; two daughters, Ann Marie Nettles Hummes of Harrisburg, Pa., and Tammera Nettles of Mount Vernon; four sisters, Vivian Barnes Henderson of Mount Vernon, Lois Dunkin of Mobile, Gwen Dunkin of New York and Mickey Nettles of Lockhart, Ala.; and eight grandchildren.
Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Union Baptist Church in Fairford, with viewing one hour before. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with Andrews Funeral Home in Jackson directing.

Lee E. Ford
WALNUT HILL, Fla. - Lee Edward "Mule" Ford, a native of Prichard and resident of Walnut Hill, died Sunday at his home. He was 56.
Ford, a retired chef, had worked at Jackie's, a restaurant in Atmore for many years.
He had graduated from school in Mobile County.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Redmond Ford of Walnut Hill; his parents, Lee and Edna K. Ford of Prichard; six daughters, Michelle Darling of Newark, N.J., Stephanie Moss of Birmingham and Shannon Ware of Mississippi, Robbins Tolliver of Cantonment, Fla., Yurmonicke Hale and Shivoyer English, both of Walnut Hill; five sons, Kennedy M. Kirk of New Orleans, Pierre Ladd, Fredrick Bonner and Demetrius Ware, all of Mobile, and Larry English of Walnut Hill; two brothers, Grady Ford of Korea and Walter Ford of Prichard; seven sisters, Liza Ford Smith, Carolyn Ware, Phyllis F. Barnes, Mary F. Watkins, Martha McGinsey, Sally F. Rooks, all of Prichard, and Annie Turner of Birmingham; 16 grandchildren; and eight step-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 1 to 8:30 p.m. today at Turner Funeral Chapel in Atmore. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, with services at 11 a.m., at St. Paul Baptist Church in Walnut Hill.

Alma R. Cooper
THEODORE - Alma Ruth Cooper, a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Irvington, died Monday at her home. She was 74.
Mrs. Cooper, who resided in Theodore, was a native of Panama City, Fla. She was the daughter of northwest Florida pioneer Edward James Fox.
Survivors include five children, David Cooper of Irvington, Marjie Thomas of Panacea, Fla., Edward Cooper of Mobile, Connie Webster of Theodore and James Cooper of Manchester, Ky.; a sister, Pauline Felts of Auburndale, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. today at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Half Mile Road in Irvington. Burial will be in Panama City.
Arrangements are by Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street.

Denise B. Daniels
Denise Buford Daniels, a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, died Thursday. She was 40.
She was a member of Georgetown Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph T. Daniels of Mobile; her parents, Cary D. Buford Sr. and Nelda Williams Buford of Georgetown; and two brothers, Doug Buford and Don Buford.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Radney Funeral Home. Burial will be in Byrd Memorial Cemetery.

Melissa B. Redd
Melissa Biggs Redd, a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, died Friday after a short bout with cancer. She was 31.
Mrs. Redd was a member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church. She graduated from Murphy High School in 1986.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn Redd, a son, Josh Redd, and a daughter, Taylor Redd, all of Mobile; a stepson, Adam Redd, and a stepdaughter, Joanna Redd, both of Akron, Ohio; her father and stepmother, Michael A. Biggs Sr. and Linda Biggs of Mobile; her mother and stepfather, Rosemarie Seeley and Charles Seeley of Chickasaw; and three brothers, Gary Seeley of Chickasaw, Mark Biggs of Mobile, and Michael A. Biggs Jr. of Greensboro, N.C.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. Monday at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, followed by services at noon. Burial will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
