Nelson Hughes Sr.
BREWTON - Nelson Hughes Sr., a former construction worker, died Thursday. He was 89.
Hughes, a native of Marengo County, resided in Brewton. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a deacon at Baptist Hill Baptist Church and a member of the senior choir. Other memberships included Masonic Lodge No. 943, Progressive Lodge and Circle No. 6.
Survivors include four sons, Nelson Hughes of Livingston, Ala., Isadore Hughes of Brewton, Lawrence Hughes and Willie Hughes, both of Atlanta; two daughters, Creola McClain of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Ollie James of Livingston; a sister, Ruth L. Mack of Philadelphia, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services are set for 1 p.m. today at Baptist Hill Baptist Church, with viewing one hour before services. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Jones Funeral Home of Monroeville, Ala., is directing.

Daisy P. Williams
PINE HILL - Daisy Penelope Williams, a Pine Hill homemaker and a former stock clerk with Alabama Wholesale, died Monday at her home. She was 79.
Mrs. Williams, a native of Sunny South, Ala., was a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Sherman Williams of Sunny South and Jimmy R. Williams of Pine Hill; two daughters, Ann W. Vaughan of Demopolis, Ala., and Judean W. Etheredge of Sunny South; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services are set for 10 a.m. today at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville, with burial at Sunny South Baptist Church.

Edna Hill
WARD, Ala. - Edna Hill, a Ward homemaker, died Tuesday at a hospital in Meridian, Miss. She was 93.
Mrs. Hill was an Alabama native.
Survivors include three daughters, Edna H. Moody of Butler, Ala., Beauty Thrash of Pennington, Ala., and Modine Clark of Linden, Ala.; four sons, James Hill of Cincinnati, Morris V. Hill of Bankston, Ala., Jerome D. Hill of Dracula, Ga., and Thomas J. Hill of Auburn, Ga.; two brothers, Earnest Tanner of Uniontown, Ala., and Willie D. Tanner of Citronelle; two sisters, Ruth Hines of Huntsville, Ala., and Mary Lee Boren of Demopolis, Ala.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8:30 at Bumpers Funeral Home in Butler, Ala. Graveside services are set for 11 a.m. Thursday at Ebenezer Cemetery in Pennington.

EVELYN RUTH WILCOX
GULF SHORES - Evelyn Ruth Wilcox, a native of Mobile and a resident of Gulf Shores, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999. She was 89 years old.
Survivors include her husband, Benjamin A. Wilcox of Gulf Shores; seven daughters, Clara Johnson of Fairhope, Ruth Mayberry of Foley, Mary Blackwell of Silverhill, Lydia Salter, Margie Farr, Hazel Carlee and Joan Dorgan, all of Robertsdale; two sons, Benjamin A. Wilcox III and John A. Dorgan, both of Gulf Shores; 35 grandchildren and 95 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 tonight at Pine Rest Funeral Home in Foley. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with burial following in Pine Rest Memorial Park in Foley.

Mable Brewton
Mable Young Brewton, a homemaker and member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, died Wednesday at a local health care facility. She was 85.
Mrs. Brewton was a native and resident of Mobile.
She is survived by four children, including Lillian Madison, Geraldine White and Margaret Bradley, all of Mobile; a sister, Bertha Tobiasson of Mobile; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 1;30 p.m. today at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Serenity Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are by Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.

Mary S. Duncan
Mary Susan Duncan, a native of Clay, Ky., and resident of Mobile, died Tuesday at her home. She was 75.
Survivors include a son, Thomas M. Duncan; two daughters, Donna S. Thomas and Mary Ann Hansen; two brothers, Elie Liles Jr. and Riley M. Liles; two sisters, Virginia Frances Ames and Ruby Waters; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 11 a.m. today at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, followed by services at noon. Burial will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Lola R. Nichols
Lola Rebecca Nichols, a Chickasaw resident, died Tuesday at a family residence. She was 81.
The Bullock County native was a member of First Baptist Church of North Mobile.
She is survived by one daughter, Jeannie Colburn of Saraland; one son, Leonard Nichols of Chickasaw; and three grandsons.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon today at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. in Memorial Gardens.
