Walter O. English
Walter O'Neil "Joe" English, a retired employee of the Mobile Register, died Sunday at his home. He was 89.
English, a lifelong Mobilian, had worked for many years with the newspaper and was a night supervisor in the composing department. He retired in July 1976.
He was a charter member of the Mobile Sheriff's Posse and was a participant when the posse rode in the inaugural celebration of President John F. Kennedy, family members said.
He also was known throughout the South as a champion trainer and judge of Tennessee Walking Horses. He was inducted into the Alabama Horsemen's Hall of Fame in 1997.
English had ridden in many Mardi Gras parades.
Survivors include three brothers, Billie English of Brewton, Ala., Harold Cortez English of Laurel, Miss., and Eddie Lee English of Mobile; his stepchildren; and a number of step-grandchildren.
Services are set for 1 p.m. today at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, with visitation from noon until the services begin. Burial will be at Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Clinton C. Minette
Clinton Chelsey Minette, who had worked with Alabama Dry Dock and Shipbuilding Co., died Monday at a local hospital. He was 90.
A native of East Troy, Wis., Minette resided in Mobile.
Survivors include his wife, Rubye Scott Minette, and a daughter, Jane R. Minette, both of Mobile; two sisters, Muriel Megal and Gladys Mahel, both of Milwaukee.
Graveside services are set for noon Thursday at Scott Cemetery in Butler, Ala.
Memorials may be made to the Alabama Sheriff's Boys and Girls Ranch, or to the United Methodist Children's Home. Bumpers Funeral Home of Butler is handling arrangements.

Denver R. Sellers
Denver R. Sellers, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, died Monday at his Mobile residence. He was 80.
A native of Coffeeville, Sellers was a member of the Guy T. Smith Lodge No. 883 F&AM.;
He is survived by his wife, Virginia T. Sellers; five children, Virginia Danford, William R. Sellers and Mark A. Sellers, all of Mobile, Cdr. J. Keith Sellers of Corpus Christi, Texas, and J. Karen Beyers of Glendale, Ariz.; two sisters, Nelma Powers of Atmore and Alva Hicks of Mount Vernon, Ala.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home from noon until the funeral begins at 2 p.m., with burial at Mobile Memorial Gardens.

George R. Weaver
George R. Weaver, who had worked as a boilermaker with Alabama shipyard, died Tuesday at his Citronelle residence. He was 53.
A military veteran, Weaver was a native of Calvert, Ala.
Survivors include his wife, June Weaver, and three children, Perry Weaver, Cloyd Weaver and Jennifer Weaver, all of Citronelle; two sisters, Carolyn Vermont of Bay St. Louis, Miss., and Simmie Brown of Atlanta; and a brother, Steve Weaver of Chunchula.
Visitation will be tonight from 5 to 10 at Rivers of Living Water Church. Services are set for 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with burial at Byrd Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Ala.
Radney Funeral Home in Saraland is directing.

Kanisha D. Crawford
Kanisha Danisha Crawford died Dec. 22, shortly after birth.
Survivors include her parents, Robert L. and LaKausha Crawford; and a sister, Kiashia Durham, all of Mobile; and her grandparents, Fred and Annie Durham of Mobile, and Ceola Crawford and Robert Young of Theodore.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street, with graveside services set for 11:30 a.m. in Sunrise Cemetery.

Norma Jean Draper
Norma Jean Draper, a homemaker, died Sunday at her home. She was 59.
Mrs. Draper was a native of Clara, Miss., and a longtime resident of Eight Mile.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Draper of Eight Mile; two daughters, Tammy Furey of Kushla and Schelle Simmons of Daphne; her mother, Lizzie Patrick of Eight Mile; her brother, Wayne Patrick of Eight Mile; and three grandchildren.
Memorial services are pending.

Annie Faulkner
Annie Faulkner, a homemaker and former medical secretary, died Tuesday at the age of 72.
Mrs. Faulkner was a native of Sulligent, Ala., and resident of Mobile.
Survivors include two sons, Don Faulkner of Mobile and Ronnie Faulkner of Prattville, Ala.; a sister, Frances Hilleke of Northport, Ala., three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services are set for 2 p.m. today at Norwood Funeral Home in Sulligent, with burial in Sulligent Cemetery.
