Flora C. Brock
Flora Cantrell Brock, a Grand Worthy Matron in the Order of the Eastern Star, died Wednesday at a Daphne nursing facility.
Mrs. Brock, who resided in Mobile, was a member of Friendship Baptist Church of Reo, Ga. She was a native of Villanow, Ga.
She is survived by her son, Rufus Carl Brock of Fairhope; two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, with burial at Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Council Jackson Sr.
Council Jackson Sr., a senior volunteer at the Douglasville Community Center, died Wednesday at a local hospital. He was 87.
Jackson, who resided in Eight Mile, was a native of Oakhill, Ala. He formerly resided in Bay Minette.
He was a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, and was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 945 F&AM.;
Survivors include 15 children, Sullivan Jackson and Lillian Childress, both of Pensacola, Yvonne Thomas, David Jackson, Council O. Jackson and the Rev. Frank Jackson, all of Birmingham, Dr. Sylister J. Thomas of Miramar, Fla., Lois Gulley of Brandon, Fla., MacArthur Jackson, Wilbert Jackson of Decatur, Ga., Curtis Jackson of Atlanta, Leola Washington of Jamaica, N.Y., Council Jackson Jr., Moses Jackson of Bay Minette and Lillie Anderson of Eight Mile; four sisters, Catherine Jenkins of Cincinnati, Pearline Monroe and Maggie Smith of Oakhill, and Hattie Turk of Mobile; a brother, William Jackson of Cincinnati; 42 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be at Union Missionary Baptist Church in Bay Minette on Sunday from 1 p.m. until services begin at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Sunrise Cemetery.
Christian Benevolent Funeral Home is in charge.

Mavis M. Stringfellow
Mavis McFarland Stringfellow, who had been employed with Lucas Income Tax Service for 17 years, died Thursday at a local hospital. She was 81.
Mrs. Stringfellow, who resided in Saraland, was a native of Grove Hill. She sold Avon products for 15 years and was a member of the Avon President's Club.
Survivors include three children, Charles Leon Stringfellow of Satsuma, Beverly Kleinschrodt of Saraland and Joe E. Stringfellow of Mobile; a brother, Curtis J. McFarland of Satsuma; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Radney Funeral Home in Saraland will announce arrangements.

Mary Louise Thomas
Mary Louise Halsted Thomas, a Mobile resident who was a native of Port Chester, N.Y., died Wednesday at a local nursing facility.
Mrs. Thomas, 82, had resided in California from 1920 until moving to Mobile in 1977.
Survivors include four children, Mary St. Clair of Jacksonville, N.C., Bob Thomas of Fairhope, Janet Laurence of Mobile and Annie Prosser of Honokaa, Hawaii; four sisters, Rita Grode of LaVerne, Calif., Bobbie Grode of Ramona, Calif., Frances Herman and Jane Halsted, both of San Clemente, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial Mass is set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Little Flower Catholic Church.

Elvin C. Weaver
MOUNT VERNON - Elvin Carey Weaver, a native of Washington County who resided in Mount Vernon, died Wednesday at a Mobile hospital. He was 66.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie Weaver of Mount Vernon; four sons, Donald Andrew Weaver of McIntosh and Scottie Weaver, Timothy Alan Weaver and Elvin Christopher Weaver, all of Mount Vernon; three daughters, Regina C. Evans, Kerri Elaine Byrd and Sherri Lynn Snow, all of Mount Vernon; his stepmother, Ethel Snow of McIntosh; a brother, Guy Weaver of Eight Mile; two sisters, Frankie Rutland of Chunchula and Betty Brandenburg of Jackson; and 16 grandchildren.
Visitation will be this evening from 5 to 8 at Freeman Funeral Home in Citronelle. Services are set for 3 p.m. Saturday at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, with burial at Byrd Cemetery in Mount Vernon.

Phillip J. Woodard
THEODORE - Phillip James Woodard, a U.S. Army veteran, died Wednesday at a local hospital. He was 74.
Woodard was a native and lifelong resident of Theodore.
Survivors include his wife, Mary T. Woodard, and four sons, Stanley Woodard, Billy Martin Woodard, Ullman Woodard and Daniel Woodard, all of Theodore; three sisters, Dorothy Edwards of Grand Bay, Thelma Harden of Mobile and Mary Louise Hunter of Theodore; and three grandchildren.
Viewing will be Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home. Visitation is planned for Monday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until services begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Fowl River Cemetery.

Essie M. Jackson
DENVER - Essie Mae Jackson, a former member of Truevine Baptist Church in Mobile, died Tuesday. She was 92.
A native of Mobile, Mrs. Jackson resided in Denver.
She is survived by four sons, Oscar Jackson and Jerome Jackson, both of Mobile, Robert Jackson of La Grange, Calif., and Carl Jackson of Berlin, Germany; and three daughters, Charletta James of Lewes, Del., Gerri Fears of Denver and Marcella White of Mobile.
Visitation will be today from 1 to 2 p.m. at Stewart Memorial Methodist Church on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.
On Monday, the cortege will leave Christian Benevolent Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. for burial at 10 a.m. at National Cemetery in Mobile.
